Flying along the runway at an altitude of 4 inches smooth as a dream. That is a fine airplane. If the wings folded for storage, it would be a top seller. Or even if they don't. Simple, simpler than an airbike. I think it may be the best ultralight flyer I've seen.
It`s even fun to hear you both talking. You guys give us the exact feeling that flying is too fun I`m getting closer to have my own ultralight. So proud.
My brother and I traded an old truck to a old man that lost his son we were kids bout 13 and 14 we needed to replace the silk was just going to get it running so I sit in it we were in the back field I still have the farm anyway I say prime it it starts right up but the throttle was stuck wide open I took off like a bat out of hell I thought oh I'm going flying and boom right into the trees lol it's crazy my brother was chasing me stop stop I'll never forget that I'm 40 now good times we traded it for a boat
Finally a fresh new Back to Basics ultralight with a possibility of becoming a standard home built. Kind of reminds me of the Dormoy flying bathtub. Very nice!
it's for added drag and reduced weight. Part 103 has a max cruise speed that this thing would probably break if it had a cowling to improve aerodynamics.
Generally they are made from solid spring steel so they bend and "spring" back.... Being the overall weight and speed is so low, I think these are fine.
Light Sport and Ultralight Flyer The high boom fuselage tube and shape of tail from ultrastar. The pilots legs on both sides of the fuselage is airbike.
Affordable? We shall see. It's a matter of perspective. In most cases to a lower middle income dude, IT'S NOT!!! Some of these gadgets cost more than a used cessna ready to fly....
Yes you are correct. When I was a kid these could be made for around $4000. Now money isn't worth shit and you can get a used piper warrior for the cost of an ultralight kit that doesn't even include an engine or instruments.
But they cost less to actually FLY! (Heck, you can buy a jet for a price lower than its yearly cost of operation.) You can keep it at home, use mogas ...
they even said in the video they will price it high so most people wont be able to afford it. the website says aprox 20,000. you could make one for way less. its cool but bot worth more than 5k
@@buddchan The trouble is that aircraft engines are expensive as all hell. Which... is mostly liability and very limited demand. Most are just oversized glorified 2-stroke engines. If a person builds their own engine alongside the rest of the aircraft, they could likely create one with only $2,000.
Wow just aircraft moving? Or just this? That’s big news the rep at Midwest Lsa told a friend last week it was being redesigned because Troy was not happy with handling of prototype. Thanks I’m sure you hear lots more than we do.
There are a number of low wing 103's, Fisher and Mini Max are just two manufacturers. Having flown both parasol and low wing, I can't say that a parasol is more stable, it is just a pilot preference. The Ultralight Flyer
I work very large gravel parking lots at music concert and a race track. I wonder if the FAA will get upset if i flew this to work (with permission from the boss) xD
Chapel Hill folks don't listen real well, huh? They have a website. They mentioned it. You *MIGHT* find information there. =OR, continue asking dumb ass questions and continue to get NO replies...
HELP PLEASE. FAMILY AIRFIELD IN TROUBLE. Looking for any way to help keep my family's airfield alive. I know most of u have been to a small friendly airfield somewhere in the US. To gas up or just stop in to get grounded and check out a new place. My grandparents and I used to do it all the time. Well now grandpa is gone and grandma retired. This left us with no flight instructors and in big trouble. If there is anyone out there that can help a once great but now dying airfield in Colorado, please contact me. I hate to see it lay to waste after 50 years. It messes me up inside to be powerless and not be able to help my family. Thanks for your time.
imagine if a few of your mates had these and yuou would just hop in and fly over to their house and they would hear you and jump in their and youd both fly over to you other buddies house to wake his lazy ass up and get some gas and all three go crusing up and down the beach making dudes jelous as fuck and making bitches panties hit the deck
OMG! Please please close the ar, the cockpit and engine compartiment...it will cost maybe 4-5 kg of aeronotic textil but it will reduce the drag a lot!
I guess some redesign would be needed. Either case this seems to be a one man show. But the prototype as some edges to polish. The above mentioned would be a good start. The too fast is not an issue per se, smaller engine solve it on the spot. Polini also as a less powerful version. Save weight and save cost. ;-)

That is one of the most reasonable looking Part 103 Ultralight designs that I've seen, and I've been looking over quite a few.
this is my new personal favorite. Like a cross between a Legal Eagle and an Airbike.
Exc., better...and looks too....
I've always been enthused by personal aircraft since I was a kid. Cool stuff
It`s even fun to hear you both talking. You guys give us the exact feeling that flying is too fun I`m getting closer to have my own ultralight. So proud.
I love it! Wouldn't mind having one myself.
Reminds me of the Airbike, in a good way.
Now that's an awesome little Part 103. Simple and light
1:42 why right spar od more down than left side is up? Different degrees.
OK. Where's it at?
Any updates on the Just 103 Solo?
Gosh Darnit...I hate being in Texas...All the fun is on the East Coast !!!!!!
What braking system are you using ?
This guy has a sincere "Huell Howser" type of smile. It should help his sales.
This aircraft will grow bro. Keep up the faith.
Part 103 ultralight aircraft is very good perfect
they need to raise the weight limit
Nice project Sir
one of the best plane in the world to fly because safety is high
So good flay. I can like this enterview.
How much and when can I buy one? I really like this design!
Current assumed price is 20k USD
I wish this was available as a 120kg LL in Europe. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Where do I find the kit? What is it called?
Whoa, this is awesome

Where is the fuel tank? Thank you!
I'll take it!
I would love to start an ultra light company
Nice Summer flyer
Ok, so this is 12/12/20! How much longer do I Ned to wait?
Very cool design.
This looks like so much fun
If I were to run a parachute can I run bigger horsepower and tires under part103?
Love it!
wow how cute is that tinny plane, I will build one for myself at the end of 2018
so how did it go?
Good design
Looks like a nice little plane. I wonder why there's no cowling around the engine though?
Weight savings?
Not sure the weight saving outmeasures the drag increase though
Drag is NOT the problem - weight is! To make part 103 the weight is limited, thus every ounce counts.
The Ultralight Flyer
it's for added drag and reduced weight. Part 103 has a max cruise speed that this thing would probably break if it had a cowling to improve aerodynamics.
@@Hyperious_in_the_air Well the plane is already designed for that speed from ground up Also cowling weighs very little.
Is this the engine made byRotec in Duncanville, TX in the 80's ?
No it is an engine made in Italy - used by a lot of paramotors and ppg's.
The Ultralight Flyer
What's the wingspan and minimun take off speed?
Appreciate it.
How do you get training???
How much for the kit
And where do you get it
This thing with a Verner 3-cylinder :-)
Doesn't that engine idle like you lost one prop blade.
I was thinking the Valley Engineering V-Twin. Air cooled, 4-stroke, electric start, and 40 or 50 hp depending on which version you get.
wonder if it would do well with a 1/2 VW engine
Anything beats that shrieking 2 cycle sound. i totally would love to see the Verner engine on it!
Those verners are totally awesome, especially when fitted with a proper exhaust.
You could call it a STOLtralight
doing it. dont care. ima call it that
cost for kit now in 2020 ?
This is cool. Could oversize tires be fitted for dirt or grass runway.
Yep! Bigger engine and 22's would be perfect
@@rasonjason4066 ..I wont "spinners" on mine's and the ability to "drop it like its hotttt"....
It might just be because of the camera angle but this plane appears to fly a little bit slower than a F-14 tomcat.
I'd definitely would be installing arm rests
Excelente 🇩🇴🌎
This is extremely interesting ........front mount engine....
That gear looks incredibly fragile.
looks like they may snap off under heavy breaking let lone landing in a paddock
Generally they are made from solid spring steel so they bend and "spring" back....
Being the overall weight and speed is so low, I think these are fine.
Sure
nah it's got barely anything to support
If you landing that hard, you gonna break more than that gear...You gonna need a surgeon and a wheel chair..!!!!!
I love it! Any pricing info yet?
TIM HARDIN the engine alone is 4000. Looking like 8 to 10k.
Hello good sir!!! Any word on when this aircraft will be up for sale? It’s been quite awhile with no word. A lot of people ready to order!
Because all of the shows have been cancelled this year so far, we haven't seen them to get an update. Airventure in July will be the next show.
According to their website it’s 20,000$ USD
I have to have one!!!
It's the Wright brothers with a modern engine and better material..
Looks like it's heavily 'inspired' by airbike and kolb ultrastar, however neither were mentioned.
Airbike uses a welded fuselage and a wood wing, Kolb is a pusher with the engine mounted above the wing - what is similar?
The Ultralight Flyer
Light Sport and Ultralight Flyer The high boom fuselage tube and shape of tail from ultrastar. The pilots legs on both sides of the fuselage is airbike.
I like how he only has an hour of logged flight time and is prepared send to market in 3 months hahaha
Kinda reminds me of a legal eagle
this makes the Eagle look like a model-T. I used to want a Legal Eagle as well, but after seeing this on 22in tundra tires, this is my new dream plane
@@Hyperious_in_the_air I like this design as well.
How much hp it has?
Single Cylinder, 36 HP, Polini, liquid cooled aircraft engine with clutch, electric start and charging system.

What's the range ?
As an ultralight it will be limited to 5 gallons of fuel - so two hours of flying.
The Ultralight Flyer
So Dan is going to fly it! Well, how does he get his “Dual Instruction”???
Dan is already an experienced flyer!
What happed to this product? It’s late 2019 and nothing and no updates.
My information is that the design/production of the craft is moving to the west coast.

They shouldn't be, as a license isn't required for these small aircraft. Your boss might not be very happy about it though due to liability issues.

That thing with a 582 will be NUTS. If it had a cockpit area wide enough to keep my feet inside vs outside I'd be all over that.
Nonsense, Rtx582 is too heavy and too much power and high fuel consumption - it couldn't fit on it.
you can probably mold fiberglass or carbon fiber foot cowls for the rudder pedals.
Super!!!
Is there a link to their site
It is on the cover page, the intro and at the end.

Wouldn't it be pricey with this Pollini 250 ?
The landing gear looks fragile asf
How much does it cost?
Generally somewhere around 15 to 20 thousand bucks for the least expensive.

Oh yeah!
Sorry, I have no idea.
gimmie 2 matter of fact going to check out how I do that now
can we see a engine out landing?
ok how much and where
how can we order some and where do we send deposits
I don't like the engine right in front of me. Put it behind the wings so you get a better view.
Should be called just barely aircraft
🤣🤣🤣
