Hello, mate. Nice start of the campaign and the unification with Dol Amroth gave us a bunch of territory which makes good money- and, as you pointed out, some more problems too. Of course, the Adunaim will attack you, as you are their archenemy and they are dedicated to Sauron. Boromir and Faramir will surely hold the line of Anduin and Eastern Osgiliath will be a good grave for the Orcs if it is properly developed. I liked very much the look of Gondor Pikemen, though I think that the typical Gondorian shield is simply too big for someone who has to use a weapon with both his hands... I hope that later the Pikemen will not have shields (please, mate, pass this to the dev team, it's more logical). In other terms, you have Duilin and one unit of Blackroot Vale Archers sitting in a fort, they should go to reinforce Hirluin in his attempt to hit Cirith Iaur- Hirluin needs these archers and you'd better give them to him. Then, surely Tharangrondost should be your next target. The other forces you have in forts need to get assembled and go forth. You have some very good generals in there, that add a good flavour to your forces. I believe two of them, along with some militia units, need to go for Tirithoros and Barad Harn, as Bolger states that there are some cool javelin units that you can get from there. Have this in mind for your development: the towns that are close to the front must priopitise military infrastructure, while the towns of the inner circle are your big money-makers, covering Lossarnach, Lamendon and Belfalas. Otherwise, good start and please show us the new units should you use them in battle. And now, I have to invent a character for a story... 🤔🤔🤔I had a bit of a trouble to get one, but having considered some options, here we are: Denethor was going back and forth, as the news for the first attacks from Mordor arrived to the White Tower. "So, it begins", he murmured. He then gave the order to form new battallions to march forth and the smiths should start to work on new armours and weapons. The messengers bowed and left with the orders of the Steward to hold the line of Anduin. Just some few days later, the news were better and Denethor didn't hide how happy he was, as both his sons had held heroic victories against armies two times bigger than the men they had, moreover Boromir has passed in the attack, claiming Eastern Osgiliath. "This is my firstborn", he said, "he knows the will of the Steward and does his best with steel and might. Tell immediately the others to march forth with what they can". "My Lord", said one of the councellors, "Hirluin of Pinath Gelin has gathered a force with him and marches on to Cirith Iaur. He says in his message that his intention is to claim the town and have an eye towards Enedwaith". "And he asks for what?", Denethor asked. "Reinforcements, my Lord", the councellor replied. "Tell Hirluin that he has the affirmative response of the Steward", was Denethor's reaction. "Duinhir has some archers with him, tell him to reinforce Hirluin now. After Cirith Iaur, the target should be Tharangrondost, so as to have the whole line". "Of course, my Lord", the councellor replied before he left. A bit later, Denethor was in the smith district with the leader of the smith guild, a man named Egalmoth. A new blacksmith had appeared in the town and Denethor wanted to visit him. He claimed to be Indrazor, a man of Numenorean descent, who had come from the south and seeked refuge with his two children in Minas Tirith. He was a capable smith, doing a lot of tools in the months of his presence, as well as some good weapons. Egalmoth said that Indrazor showed a big interest towards the sword smithing and he had made around twenty of them, which had gone to Faramir's forces in Cair Andros. Boromir's servants had also ordered some swords and it was said that Boromir had asked Indrazor to make some for him. Denethor was interested in the fact that he came from the south and he was a Numenorean. Outside the place where Indrazor lived, Denethor saw a simple place, like every other smith had in the district. Inside, there was a girl sitting behind the stand tyding some tools, while from the inside noises were heard, showing that someone was working. The girl raised her head. "My daughter", Egalmoth said. "we seek your father. The Steward of Gondor has shown his interest. Could we please meet him?". A tall man came from inside, wearing black and having a boy by his side. Both were holding hammers. The man stared into Denethor's eyes for a while, before giving the correct greeting: "Hail Denethor, son of Ecthellion, Steward of the Kingdom of Gondor. How can I be of help?". "So, you are Indrazor the Numenorean", Denethor said. "I just came to see you, as my sons seem to have you at the top of their expectations in what is about swords". "A great honour, my Lord", Indrazor replied, "but I don't deserve it. I simply do my job". "How come that you know of sword smithing?", Denethor asked. "I come from a smithing family, my Lord", Indrazor replied. "My father Eldrazor was a trader and a smith and he passed a lot of his years in the South selling a lot of weapons, but mostly swords. As a child, I have passed with him in many places in Rhun, Harad and Khand selling swords and I have learnt from him how to make a sword". "I see", Denethor replied. "I heard that you seek refuge in Gondor". "Unfortunately, my Lord", Indrazor replied. "I came here from the passages of Ethir Anduin after an attack in the village I was living with my family. I was the lucky to be here with both my children, but others could not". "Where you lived at first?", Denethor asked. "Amon Eithel", Indrazor replied. "We tried to seek refuge into the town as the Haradrim advanced, but the army set the siege before I could reach the walls. Be bypassed the town and reached the passages from Tirithoros, afterwards fro m Linhir and Carasast I came here". "It's only you three, I see", Denethor said, to receive an affirmative nod from Indrazor. "Welcome, then, to Gondor. Every capable man is needed in the dark hours to come. If you serve Gondor well, you'll be awarded". As Denethor left, Indrazor all his children bowed in a greeting. "What do you think, my Lord", one of Denethor's close servants asked him. "He seems a good man and a capable smith, but I feel that there are more things to say about him". "Sure for this", Denethor replied. "Where is his wife? And I feel that this man is hiding too much. Have him under watch". The servant nodded in agreement.
@@mavericksus1160 hey Mav! Nice to see a comment of yours. Thanks for the explanation. VERY nice work, I love them and I look forward to see the other units too.
This city was once the jewel of our kingdom! A place of light, and beauty, and music. And so it shall be once more! Let the armies of Mordor know this: Never again, will the land of my people fall into enemy hands! The city of Osgiliath, has been reclaimed, for Gondor!
Yes! Gotta love a faction that's heavy on defense and holding back the tides of darkness. More than anything though, I absolutely _love_ the way Gondor's units evolve and develop as the game goes on. Unlike pretty much every other faction, Gondor's units tend to have actual visual changes for each armor and weapon upgrade and honestly that's my favorite thing to see. I'd love more than anything if the devs went through and added visual upgrades to as many faction troops as possible, because watching your forces visibly become more advanced and powerful as they upgrade is immeasurably helpful when it comes to immersion and depth. EDIT: On a different note, if any devs happen to read this, _please_ for the love of god get rid of auto resolve restriction for hardcore mode! I'd love to activate it and get more immersion by seeing armies basically suffer attrition while trying to keep a settlement under siege, but removing auto resolve means I (and everyone else I've seen talking about it) will never touch that feature in a million years. Without auto resolve you'd have to fight every tedious battle no matter if it's a full stack against a single unit, you'd not be able to use it to make sure a general (allied or enemy) is able to escape if they lose (since auto resolve typically doesn't kill them), and you'd lose ways of auto resolving battles that are bugged and crash the game. I can't tell you how many times auto resolve has saved my campaign since once in a while I'll run into battles which immediately crash the game.
Would love to add visual upgrade for everyone but sadly we are lacking modelers in our team and its a bit of a learning curve, atm we are relying on the AGO mod team to update models which we get by default, all of the new units for Gondor do have visual upgrades though. The hardcore mode is not something we added but is a feature from AGO as well, Ill bring it up with the team and we can see if we can figure something out
I think what makes pike generals so easy to get killed are the fact that the general itself is a sword user so he tends to charge ahead while the rest of his soldiers stand in formation and finally pikes take forever to turn around and retreat so the general has to wait until they are ready
It is indeed, as long as you put the General's pike unit center and on hold position you are usually good, but its a good idea to keep a unit close by in case he decides to rush out on his own
In SUS there are multiple new fiefdom units. One of these units you can only get in Tirithoros and Barad Harn it is a Javelin Cavalry, so make sure you grab these settlements!
Man, I totally feel you pain managing the pike general. While pikes are excelent unit to hold the line, the fact that their commander is roaming off the post with only a sword is a pain in the ass. I also tried every trick to save those generals, putting left flank somewhat back instead at right angle or overlaping the left side of line with another unit to shield the damn fool - with mixed results. Once I was defending Tharagrondos from Corsair invasion (in original TA:TW) and I won the encounter but didnt end the battle as I want to kill 85% of enemy forces and my Tower kill him, once I mop down twofull stack armies of Mordor, led by Gothmog and nazgul with less that 200 loses, but Boromir was one of them, despite his unit lost like 4-5 men (he is pike/helebard genereal in DAC and AGO so I replayed the battle and still won but this time with almost 800 loses, so I was foreced to stop my advance and regroup my army giving Mordor time to fortify Minas Morgul...
I don't want to spoil any scripts if you don't want it spoiled but if I remember right from one of the developer notes that there's a script in place that slowly makes denathor insane from the planteir and once he'd gets really bad off and he is killed off boromir gets an improved bodyguard
In a sense it was to be expected that the faction would come out champion. It's interesting the path and the choices you made. very careful with the borders of the kingdom!!!
Very good one, i would muster the Cair Andros and Osgiliath armies and march forward, your troops are good and once you retrain the hurt battalions you are good to go. i would either go for Minas Morgul or for the rebel settlements across the river. Getting Minas Morgul tho will bring Mordor to a stop from going south on those rebel towns, so i would go for that.
