  • Here's a method on how to make a great survival food packed with a lot of protein and calories... First bake some corn bread in a canteen cup and then fry some spam on a alcohol stove....

    before i was disabled i took spam sandwiches to work once or twice a week we live in the south and i grew up eating a lot of spam love it

    Nice video, thank you for taking the time. I love the creativity of the cornbread baked in a cup. If you were pressed for time (or fuel) you can also make the corn bread mix pancake style right next to your spam. That would also make good sandwiches & possibly free up your cup for a nice hot drink or instant soup. Again, thanks so much.

    Someone like me. After all the years of living outside and eating MRE's (translate yuck, 2nd gen MRE's) you put a bit of thought into your Bug-out bag. Learned the trick from another soldier who could take MRE and make a tasty meal.

    Thank you for the part I forgot about dried egg ( known here and on MASH TV SHOW, as powdered egg) , and the dried milk,, I was unsure how to do that part. Thanks again for GOOD food videos.i will be using those parts with my Jiffy corn bread mix!!!!!!

    Matt - absolutely love your canteen cup oven - have you tried wheat bread using the same technique - although it would have to be in a slightly different setting to allow the dough to rise a bit

    I guess that would be awesome. I think for the money and what everything weighs and the time involved, I would just pack a lot of energy bars and keep on trucking while I eat. But that looks like a fun hot meal.

    @faranglaw good question man....definatly the micro stove for the sheer fact that it boils water fast on the run... you can turn it off and from my experience the canister lasts 4 times longer than a bottle of heet.......thanks for asking that scenario question.....

    Since you can eat spam right out of the can or bag, I'd skip the fried spam part and just bake it into the cornbread. I love this, thanks!

      not nearly enough heat to fully cook meat and bread....and the. eat will add extra liquid not good

    Spam gets a bad wrap. I grew up on spam when food was short. One of my favorites, Ramen and Spam and green onions.

    Of all your videos, I've never seen this one. I wonder, could you also try cutting the spam into cubes or slices and doing corn dogs? Handy on the run.

    How and what do you need to make corn bread, it looks really good but I don't know anything about it (Until I watched this video) and would like to learn more. If you could please point me in the right direction then I would be greatfull. And great video that looks like a great meal.

      Brent Bowling You can also use pancake mix to make a sweet bread, using the same canteen cup method.
      Krusteze brand mix requires only water, no eggs or oil.

    Spam may be the butt of many jokes but it's a very thoroughly tested survival food.
    It was used as a ration by the US military and it's allies in WWII.

    i guess it would be harder to cook if you had only one stove but spam doesn't need to be cooked so the sandwich would be hot cornbread and room temp. spam sandwich WHAT A COMBO PASS THE KETCHUP *thumbs up*

    Suggestion: Buy "Spam LIGHT" whenever you can find it. (It has far less salt in it.....regular spam is very salty)....spam light is quite good

    Nice cookin there...bread turned out neat...
    hyperthetical: Solar flare knocks out grid, your area becomes unsafe and you have to BugOut you only have room for one stove in your backpack..a full butane/gas cartridge and burner OR can stove with 1 full bottle of HEET...you will be buggin out for about 4 weeks..and can ONLY take one,which one do you take..???

    @survivalists2012 Yeah, but if the grid fails...I can rob a liquor store easy enough to get the alcohol I need...and even cheep wine can be distilled to make alcohol that will burn in the stove. there really isnt a right or wrong answer I dont think....preparedness is key
