All Trails ranks this as “moderate,” it’s not too long but it does have over 1,000 feet of elevation gain! If you’re an active person, this should be able to do this- just take your time, start early so it’s not too hot, and bring a lot of water! Good luck and have fun! :)
Route 9W North Bear Mountain, NY 10911 is the address in Google, the trail starts at the main parking lot area by the big lake. It should pop up in AllTrails that’s what we used.

I wish i had watch this video before my hike. I decided to hike this trail for a 1st timer. Man I almost died going down major welch trail.
Bear mountain's great.. been going there since a teenager.. first hiked it in 1967.. never gets old

We did the Bear Mountain Loop Trail and parked in the main lot.

Is this good for first timers? This trail looks amazing. Friends & I are possibly planning to do this trail in the next few weeks.

Hi, how do you get there from Manhattan?
FYI. There is a bus from Port Authority Bus Terminal that goes to Bear Mountain.
Would this be doable for small and medium dog?
I can’t see why not, we have 2 medium sized dogs and they had no issues.
