NIce video and nice bike. I have a CB300R that my wife is taking and I am getting a Rebel 500 today. I got the same indicator in blue for my wife. Do you find it's not bright enough in the sun? I tested it out and couldn't really see it in sun with me wearing a tinted visor. Also it came with an extra cover?? Is that in case you scratch or trash the original? Finally do you know if there is a way to reset this or does it reset simply by unplugging? Thanks in advance.
Thank God I can have a real Gear Shifter indicator for my new 2019 Honda Rebel 500 that works! Thanks. IDK why they never put one on for Honda rebel but they do now for the Honda rebel 2020 model :)
I Chris crossed a couple of small zip ties on the wire near the head. Seems to hold well. Doesn’t vibrate either. I heard one guy used black shoe goo and had very good results.
Really like it. To me it’s worth the money. But one incorporated into the gauge would have cost Honda very little and would be nice to see the gear position with the clutch in.
Search amazon Idea gear indicator bracket. A few come up, you need to buy the more expensive one if you don't want to grind some material out. A bit of black shoe goo works well to mount it on the side of the handle bar mount. Or 3M double sided. I just criss crossed 2 zip ties near the base around the wire no vibrations holds well.
Yeah you just plug the White in the red diagnostic plug very easy. Setting the indicator requires a long stretch of road or a stand. and is easy too. To reset it, turn the ignition on and off when it gets between 3 and 5, 6 times.
Yeah the blue is cool, not a perfect match. Sucks the 2020 Rebel got every little improvement I thought it needed, LED lighting, gear indicator built in and improved seat. Oh well. Maybe a 2022 1100 rebel is in my future. LOL
It was the saddle bag stays I flipped upside down. Worked good. But sold them with the saddle bags that came with the bike. I have a cheap eBay rack on there now. Works good
Its a Dowco tail bag call Rally pack, i believe its discontinued. I bought it on amazon for 50. Don't see it any more. The rails are saddle bag stays I flipped upside down. sold those with the saddles. Bought a cheap rack i'm happy with on ebay. Some of my later vids will show that.
Hey, I just mounted it thanks to your vid, awesome man thank you. However, I couldnt find a "hold ring" for my idea gear indicator (to put on the handlebar). I'm afraid that by only sticking it it will eventually comes off from wind...
No ABS on the 500, the 300 did have ABS. It doesn't make a difference for the gear indicator. I did hear that sprocket changes with ABS can mess things up. Not sure on that.
@@williamhoughton5051 Stuff is expensive here now, the U.S is definitely suffering inflation this year. I do really like the indicator. Mostly just to look down and see I'm in top gear.
They are stock honda saddle bag stays I flipped up side down. Crazy Idea but worked. I got them with the bike so used them, but at 129 dollars I wouldn't have bought them. I have since sold them and the saddle bags, then got a nice rack off ebay for around 100. Check some of my later vids to see the rack.

They finally got the Gear Shift in the Display now for 2020 models mine is 2019 so happy I seen this video bought one from IDEA

I didn't see how you plugged it up??? Did the white plug, plug into the red plug? Or was there more to it?

Is your bike the rebel 500 with abs
