- This is my Pentax DA 21mm f3.2 Limited lens.
This was one of my main lenses for the street on my Pentax DSLRs, and this is a quick video with reasons why I like it and many of the photos I made with it.

It's funny how in the video I forgot to say this is an APS-C lens. Makes the "wider than 35mm" comment at the end quite confusing.
But if you are watching this you know this already--it's an APS-C lens, it is not full frame 🙂
In the video I forgot to say this is an APS-C lens. If you assumed (incorrectly) that this is a full frame lens, then "a bit wider than 35mm" makes no sense.

@@JuanBuhler Have wanted that little prime since entering the Pentax system with a K-7 back in 2009. Now a good-as-new smc DA21 cropped up in an eBay auction and I managed to get it for an equivalent of less than $220. The first test shots on my K-3 suggest a fine copy. This looks to be one fun lens; can't wait to give it a proper run.

@@JuanBuhler Also kinda glad that now that I've finally assembled all the smc DA Limiteds that really matter to me (15, 21, 35, 70), I can return to photography, which is what these lenses are for after all. Before the lucky occasions that added the 70 and 21 to my kit, I had bought my last lens in 2016. I've always felt that it makes a lot of sense to give yourself the time to really learn a new lens properly before getting another. But, yeah, some opportunities are just too good to be missed. As photographers, most of us do have a soft spot for gear, be it used or new, even if we pretend we don't. The thing is just not letting the gear take precedence over the photography, at least as long as you see yourself primarily as a photographer, rather than a collector of photo gear.
Wow, I am more surprised that a Pentxian actually knows how to make some good photos and a decent review. I have this lens on my K50 and it has not come off in 2 years. Love the combo.

Not me BTW, I've gone mirrorless a while back. Still have and love all these Pentax lenses though.
I mainly shoot olympus and panasonic, but since i wanted a camera for my old m42 Glass with less of a crop and an ovf, i have arrived at the k5. I first started the pentax Journey with the k10d earlier this year, all because of snappiness. Then i got the pentax f 50mm, the af was too bad on the k10d, and i bought the k5. It works great for mf and af glass.
It seems really essential I should try one…

I cannot agree with one thing, I have other, much older metal Pentax kenses and they are not even 10% as worn as my 4-year-old 21limited lens. The quality of workmanship (especially the black coating) does not deserve to be called limited!! Someone made a big mistake by allowing it to be sold in this finish. We need to talk about this openly so that Pentax will bear the consequences

It is a little wider than 35mm on a full frame.
It is equivalent to 33mm on a full frame.

Trying to decide 21mm limited or just go for the 20-40mm??
I haven’t used the 20-40, although I’ve heard great things about it. I imagine it will boil down to size, the 21 is tiny and makes for a super compact kit.
