I'm glad you were just as surprised by the end of the mission tree as I was. It was fantastic but also just a bit horrific to see all of Cannor just empty like that. I truly felt like a swarm of incredibly large locusts.
I played Skurkokli in a multiplayer game; before the current MT. I ended up allied with the Dwarves, fighting off their various enemies [Pheonix Empire; a Troll military Black Castanor; Black Demense]. Even funnier; is I went Artifice Ogres. I was second only to the Gnomes in artifice since so many relics spawned on the plains. It was a larp lobby so my reason was "Ogres eat shiny gold stuff and become smarter". By the end my Ogres had "eaten" enough Precursor Relics they were larp-wise like 1/4-Precursor Elf 3/4-Ogre.
It's really awesome the Lake Fed survived you, it would make for a great story in this tragedy of them reconquering your former, devastated lands and eventually fighting you again in the future. I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed this MT so much. The creator left the Anbennar discord shortly after finishing the MT because of so much negative feedback I think. Last time I read anything about this nation, there was also talks of introducing a mechanic for the faith, but I guess nothing has come out of that yet. A shame. I love the ogres, I just wish they had a 'good' tag to form as well. Maybe an ogre reformer nation. Maghargma isn't the worst I guess.. Merry Christmas pukey!
@@pukebeard6406 I believe that it is a combination of a few things. I think the MT was mostly developed/commited to Anbennar almost in one go, without the usual design process or balance/lore reviewers. So almost no feedback on modifiers/mechanics (6/6/6 immortal ruler with a bunch of ae reduction and hugely buffed ogre military when it was uploaded first) and no feedback on lore stuff, eg. demons in Anbennar. He deleted his account almost immediately after the first round of feedback without saying anything, even though the comments weren't all that negative design-wise and mostly due the modifiers/gov reforms having 2x or even 3x times current values. This all left other people picking up the pieces balance and localisation-wise which didn't have anyone jumping from joy from having to do additional stuff besides their current projects. Also weird vore fetish references :)
The creator left immediately after finishing the MT, in fact. Before finishing it, from a certain point of view. Certainly before getting any feedback on their final version.
I completed a campaign with these guys a fair while back. Pretty sure it holds my record for how overextended I have ever been after one of their eating sprees. Having rural farmland become more developed than a dwarven hold literally overnight was quite a trip, and quite tough on the old admin capacity. Still, I do really like these campaigns where the devs do something wildly different and unique, even for someone who's done as many campaigns as I have. Do kind of wish I'd gone in more blind than I did though, as I already knew roughly what to expect, and I'm sure that reduced some of the shock and surprise.
As someone who is playing the Oni RN this came out at a great time, I'm really sad that the only real ogre content is just Skurkokli/Azjakuma/Mire Maw, as I would really love to do way more interesting things with Ogres given how much I like their military, and only having 4 mission trees makes that hard once you've played them all. Great video then and the christmas theme was funny and cute.
I'm not sure what other content could be done with them, every ogre subgroup has a decent mission tree. One thing I've thought of that could be cool is Oni "deserters" in Xianjie who switch to Righteous Path, sort of inspired by the Swallow Hobgoblins and the civilized monsters Fenwuzhe and Balrijin. Maybe you could get missions/events as an existing tag to accept the Oni deserters and can release/play as a new RP ogre tag after taking territory from Azjakuma.
I played Anbennar for the first time yesterday, but picked Maghargma instead of the Frosthides. Kind of feel stupid now, just felt like a normal EU4 game with some names changed
Idk what is going on in the comment section...how come nobody talks about how terrifying this is, it actually made me shiver holy shit, and the sounds he played, this video was scary af to me xDD it started all cute and degenerated into something so terrifying omg, I love this video xdd
I can imagine a really fun multiplayer scenario where ogres decolonize much of Cannor, and there is a colonial race from Cannor, Aelantir, and Bulwar to reclaim it after a coalition breaks the ogre kindom.
It’s one of the variants of the united lame federation. I didn’t bother disbanding it, so the leftover townships drafted a constitution and formed Kasuknisat. There’s 6 different possible constitutions.
You have a clear advantage when it comes to sieging. Avoid their armies and go for their capital. Their armies might wreck you. You get a bunch of army quality bonuses early which might help, but it‘s not guaranteed. Also, if any unlucky centaur clan borders you, take them out. No mercy!
I will add on what I remember from when I played the campaign a fair while back: There are 3 things to keep in mind: terrain, terrain, and terrain. Cavalry (and therefore centaurs) have massive bonuses on the plains, but significant penalties elsewhere (like forests). Do whatever you have to to never fight them on flatland, unless you have truly overwhelming force. I seem to recall I had a fort on forest terrain about midway up my lands - I'd let the centaurs run rampant through my southlands (while I sieged their provinces down), but they'd inevitably get to that castle sooner or later, and there, I'd just as inevitably crush them. I did also have to attack any centaur tribe that looked to be gaining a good few vassals, before they became too powerful. But fortunately, if they had that many vassals, I could usually find a way to attack at least one. I think that was it, though, as far as I recall: never, ever fight on a plain, and don't let any one tribe get too powerful. Oh, and pray for good rng.
I would love to do Corvuria too. I have heard rumors that the vampire estate is being reworked. I‘d rather do them after this if it is true. Otherwise Corvuria was my second playthrough and very dear to me so eventually yes. Just not sure when.
