A very well known abandoned place, the Buzludzha monument. A good place to test my new gear in extreme weather conditions.
It was a real adventure in the freezing cold and a thick layer of snow. Don't forget to watch the drone footage.

That moment from 8:01 when you have to check twice if it isn´t actually a post-apocaliptic movie. Outstanding!
Thanks, those drone images made it look so surreal indeed !
I have been inside and it feels like a post apocaliptic nuclair wasteland
It is, the end of the great socialist Bulgaria is a true apocalypse for the country and also for the international working class.
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath Where do you find all these places?
This place is really impressive. Great adventure and ace drone shots!
Thanks, in the future we will feature more unknown stuff ! This was a good place to test the gear in extreme weather :)
Looking forward to it!
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath Waar vind jij zulke plekken? want ze voeren hier gewoon raves bij militaire basisen 🤣🤣
I've visited this place as a kid when it was functional. By itself it was a beautiful structure with mosaics on the walls and fully lit up.
Nice video! The Bulgarian government should restore this to its former glory. An investment for the tourist industry.
Linus Wärn good idea, but do you really think that the Westerns would allow such a thing?
Although the Bulgarian Socialist Party has made attempts to make the government fund its restoration, they failed. They even wanted the government to sell them the monument so they could restore it themselves, which also failed.
Most Bulgarians, though, being anti-communist with all the western propaganda spread since the 90s, do not wish to (costly) restore such a powerful symbol of communism.
It was never in any 'glory.' It was never completed.
@@dieselscience It was. It 'opened' in 1981.
It fell in disrepair and got plundered in the 90ties.
It became a pretty big tourist attraction after articles and videos, such as this one, and they had to put guards even for the safety of the people trying to enter it.
UNESCO and EU are actually funding it's preservation and restoration.
No matter what it represented once, it's a monument that deserves a better fate.
@@uzogsi I think you have not seen it lately.
This place is so beautiful and amazing 😂😂😂😂. They should make a Theater out of it.
The vandalism physically hurts me to see. Like that beautiful panning shot of the tower, ending with some graffiti. It made a rage in my chest build up I could hardly believe. It's just so disgraceful. I can only imagine the karma of the person who did that. They deserve whatever comes to them.
Krystal Myth tbh the graffiti adds to the symbol of the fall of the USSR
Disgraceful? Yes, the destruction of a country and a society is rarely elegant
From 8:00. It is one of the best things I have ever seen on youtube. Sending chilss back to my spines.
What a fantastic place. You boys are very brave and well caught with the drone. Many thanks for sharing
Thanks Jacky !
I wasn't able to say thank you earlier for giving me the link to this video. So I'll say thank you x2 for the video and English subtitles. This is SO cool! Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks for watching! This beauty is now being preserved! The tiles are “fixed” so they don’t fall off.
The place is amazing. The view is one of a kind. I'm from Bulgaria and support the restoration of the monument (i'm not communist). It will be a good museum but nobody from the politics care. The party that rule now doesn't want to be connected in any kind with communist and the opposition (the kids of old communist) support it, but only if they put the rules how the restoration will be done (they will hire their people and firms to make the restoration, one word only MONEY is what they care....) So that is the sad true about the monument, I have visited it this summer and was amazing.
Yes, they should renovate it. It's a part of history.
I believe something IS going to happen soon.
I am 48 now. When I was a child communism had killed millions. When I became an adult it had killed tens of millions. Now it has killed one hundred million - apparently. I expect that at this rate the number of communism's victims will be approaching the billions by the time I pass away. If true it will be catching up with combined tally of colonialism, imperialism and capitalism.
@@aquilarossa5191 you must have been a bad student or lived in a communist state as even in Communist Bulgaria we knew about the Mao death toll, the concentration camps in Bulgaria and the Soviet union and the existence of some political prisoners during my time (and I am 43 now). Your lack of knowledge doesn't make the research of the atrocities of the communist regimes any less real
Klasse gemaakt! Dit kanaal verdient veel volgers. De opnames met de drone zijn helemaal geweldig! Keep it coming!
Bedankt Paul, ben nog niet tevreden, maar dat komt wel goed in de toekomst ;)
Ik vind het klasse Bob!
supervet. The wall mosaic could've come straight out of a good Alien scifi movie.
Wowwww! Beautiful video guys! I thoroughly enjoyed watching it!
Thanks Eric ! Checked some other episodes aswell? :) We have some more thrilling adventures. This was our first video.

The star on the tower does NOT represent Soviet Russia it represents the communist movement. It was also the largest Architectural Star at the time.
It is said it could be seen both from Greece and Romania
The monument is in Bulgaria not in Russia lol and It's done by Bulgarian Communist Party, not from Russians
Cant beleive you guys walked up there to the top? Crazy! What drone do you use?
+GTBOARD.com dji mavic, i am really impressed by this drone !
They used the DJI Mavic amzn.to/2gTtyxC Some info about it if you're looking.
I went there and filmed it a few months ago. Awesome explore for sure! Nice drone footage! I stayed at shipka it hotel too.
I enjoyed several of your videos now and I have to admit this IS actually really great work! One could see that you put a lot of effort into your trips. Great videos and pictures! Stay healthy and keep exploring! Thumps up to you guys :)
Thanks, glad you like those! This was the first episode we uploaded.spread the word☺️
Awesome stuff, guys. That building gave me some serious "Brotherhood of Nod"-vibes :D
+MigeMaur thanks mate!
Almost a year old and just 50K views? Awesome videos guys, keep it up! Greetings from Mexico City.
Потрясающее место! Я сам родился в Советском Союзе, - глядя на эти кадры, я понимаю, что мы не просто страну потеряли в 1991-м, - мы потеряли целую цивилизацию.
Whoever graffeti'd "Enjoy Communism~" in the Coca Cola motif, was a genius!
Haha indeed, thanks for bingewatching👍👊
Lmao.
The irony is glorious
Incredible footage of a location I would love to travel to, but most likely will never be able to experience beyond a RUclips video. This footage is the way that I will experience this wonder of abandonment. Excellent work and thank you.
Guys, you're going to a peak full with snow with an Audi, next time try hiring some Lada Niva from somewhere, you'll make your lifes much easier. :) Otherwise great video, I've never been to the Flying saucer myself, have to go.
Bobby Kalaydjiev yes we learned from that ! We now rent big 4x4 cars for offroad adventures :)
Amazing, incredible and breathtaking! Thanks for putting this out.
Thanks a million for watching. This was the first episode we published. Have you seen some adventures in the playlist “most dangerous adventures”?
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath I will check it out, thanks :)
I didn't understand a word but really enjoyed it. What a mind-blowing place. Thx for share it with us. 🇧🇷🤝🇳🇱
Thanks ! All videos should have English subtitles, newer ones even in 20+ languages :)
you guys where really lucky to be alive. did you know there are a lot of holes covered with snow in to winter to fall in to? This place is really dangerous to go inside , especialy in the winter!! ( i come there already 15 years, so what i am talking about.)
Beautiful views, Thank you
Note To Self: MUST PACK SNOW CHAINS.... Haha nice vid man!
Awesome video! Impressive footage. I am very much attracted by abandoned places, and your channel just scratches that itch in the perfect spot. I would love to a video of Pripyat shot by you. And if you ever go, remember to make a stop at the Duga 3 site.
It was good to see you with your old shipmate Eelco. I was wondering about him and thought you might have ruined him after Nicosia.
heerlijk om naar te kijken 😆. nog leuker om een keer mee te mogen. 👍
Thanks ! Keep you updated :)
Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing your experience guys.
Thanks a lot !
this has to be restored
They never will. Russia hates communism. Notice the fancy monument in the front is totally destroyed. Most likely from former communists being pissed and going there and destroying it cus they're angry at the government.
Russia hates communism for allot of reasons. Mostly they were evil. But also even the people who like Communism now hate it because it failed them and ruined the country. Aka rich soviets who loved the star lost it all when the soviet union collapsed.
They got some funding in July 2019 ($185 000) to help conserve and now are doing studies to see the best way forward in restoration of the site. That was in Feb this year (2020). They claim they took concrete core samples checked plumbing and heating and that it all looks good and worth restoration it even mentioned the mural being able to be restored
Proletariats of all countries, unite
This one is one of my favorites.. Just unreal....
15:00 reminds me of Denver airport .
Wauw indrukwekkend! Mooie beelden 👋👍👍

Awesome!!! But why did an UFO land on the monument? Lol
Honestly, you guys are the Modern Historians totally awesome!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Amazing Pictures !
Thanks mate! On Instagram I upload lots of pictures (exploring the unbeaten path)
Looks like a base on Hoth. Amazing.
Damn, you guys have balls of steel for climbing that pillar. Respect!
Check the top 10 most dangerous adventures ! It's outdated since a lot more happened but cool to see.
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath i definitely will
Siempre me llamo la atención ese lugar
Was the star designed to be viewed from close to the base or perhaps high above and looking at an angle? The elongated "tails" of the star remind me of how advertising is painted onto sports fields in that weird stretched way so they look correct from one specific camera angle, and of course the communist star did not have elongated tails like that. Pause at 11:49 for an example of what I mean.
wat een uitzicht ook, prachtig!
What about the hands with torches on the foot of the mountain?
Stunning!!!! another place to add to the list!!
Heel mooi filmpje! Vooral de drone shots!
Increadible csenery really! But have you noticed, this is pretty much how horror movies begin.🙃
Brought me to your channel. King Bob!
Thanks mate, this was the first episode I ever made 6-7 years ago☺️Nowadays the episodes are better and English spoken😇
I’m from morocco 🇲🇦🇲🇦
De subtitles met de uitleg van het gebouw op 10:50 gaat nogal snel om allemaal te lezen, anders wel mooie beelden :)
Aangepast, thanks !
those murals are fucking intense
I loved how much you guys complained about a perfectly balmy -20 Celsius. Just wear gloves.
The star is so beautiful
What an incredible view
It’s an amazing place! They are currently renovating it.
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath really? To be opened for public visitation? Glad to hear it! I understand it's a rather controversial monument, but still, a very valuable and remarkable piece of history.
I hope I have yet the chance to visit it.
I am a follower of your videos; this one is one of my favourite; thanks from France; if you are interested I have a suggestion for you: an abandoned Navy hospital closed to where I live
Thanks ! Do you live close to La Rochelle? OR is it another navy hospital ? :)
Stunning footage!
Amazing...
Nethur Thanks a lot !
ahhahah ;D listening summer special when going to -18.
I hate what this monument represents but the drone shots really takes my breath away. Absolutely incredible. Nice work guys!
Thanks a lot, saw some of the other videos?
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath of course! been binge watching over the past few weeks :)
vette video! idem locatie :D
Exploring the Unbeaten Path
ja da zou idd mss wel kunnen zijn . is nogal een k*tbaan om er te graken he :p .
What a shame people and time ruined this monument. Bulgaria should restore it for cultural interests.
Awesome!
Too bad they don't preserve this as a museum or something. Quite a structure and really amazing views. Good vid!
Thanks, this was the first episode we shot for the channel!
@Exploring the Unbeaten Path Great intro into the series! I've been checking out all your content. Really great quality and excellent commentary and background on the places you've visited. Very enjoyable, keep it up!
great channel guys
Niezwykle miejsce.

Crazy Crazy COLD! Love the drone footage, which drone is it?
It’s the DJI Mavic 1… crashed this little buddy. Rip
in the shot of like 12:50 - I can see 3 of you at the top of the tower but also two people near the bottom left.
well cought sir, indeed, near the entrance
Wow. Thats pretty good observation. It almost looks as if there is a 3rd person below the second person.
Nice futurist architecture.
Amazing footage :)
Great video. A few points:
1. 8:27 should be the thumbnail, that's the most stunning image ever on this channel.
2. You complain about the cold, but where are your winter hats?
3. We live at the dawn of a dark age, where great monuments and ideals like this are no longer built, only vandalized.
It is in my country and i saw it inside
This is soooo cool! Abo and thumps up! regards Robert
Thanks, you won't be disappointed :) Seen some other video's already?
No it is the first! Other videos will follow! I'm looking forward to! :)
Nice adventure!
Immagina a bungee jump festival from that tower in summer time ...
Mooie video's! Wat ik mis is meer achtergrondinformatie over waar jullie precies zijn en waar de gebouwen voor gebruikt zijn.
Can you guys make the vids longer? It would be awesome to see the full material.
Did you checked another monument at the bottom of the hill ? There is two hands with two torches in their hands
Believe me I traveled to this place and it is huge... I felt like a ant🤯🤪
Yes it’s huge!

Bellissimo...
Visiting the place in spring or summer is much nicer. And easier.
Yes, but way less adventurous😄
Need to find the heater switch.
00:10 where is the location with the tanks in the intro?
Awesome video!
Wat voor een drone gebruiken jullie?
Excellent
Very interesting.
what was that monument meant for? looks like it could be a theater from the inside
fantastico video
I wanna visit this place
WOW! Is it still possible to visit?
There are motion sensors, camera's and security now. When there's a lot of snow it's possible because security isn't going to walk for miles through the snow. When there's no snow it's another story...
haha, okay. Will it be any video from Kazakhstan? ;)
Just home ! gonna edit it asap :)
Good! Can´t wait! I will definitely join next time haha
