@@AmityAlfie Retrack and repaint. Last closed season some sections of the heartline rolls were replaced. No track replacement this year but there will be next year!
I love how you are using the original music. I used to dislike Colossus but this year, I rode in the front row and it was surprisingly great! A very intense ride
@@rayc9539 Ride is currently undergoing a repaint though 😊 I probably won't hold out hope that the ride will be smoother, but I reckon I'll give it a shot when the 2024 season finally comes.
I think this coaster has been really unfairly overshadowed by the new ones, it is genuinely so much fun and you wouldn't expect it to be so. It is no where near as intense as you think it would be by looking at the videos - I would say the most intense bit are the airtime hills which are my favourite part of the ride, besides that it is super manageable and the line is themed so well. Currently my 4th favourite ride at the park behind Hyperia, Stealth and Swarm.
The back to back corkscrews then the reverse corkscrew at the end for good measure! Unique ride. Best experienced on the front row so you can see right down the corkscrews. 😂 I'll be back again in 2024 for more enjoyment.
Colossus Is one of my all time favourite roller coaster because it has ten inversions. first a Vertical loop, then air time, then you go into the cobra roll, Then two corkscrews, then my favourite part where you do four heartline rolls, and then a heartline roll but the opposite to finish
This coaster has been around for over twenty years. I went with my son's primary school as a supervising parent and one of the teachers persuaded me to 'give it a go' as I was not a big rollercoaster fan.
I don't know why but recently it's been so much smoother than usual, especially at the front. I rode it yesterday in cart 1 and It was genuinely smoother than Nemesis and Saw - obviously not as smooth as Swarm or Hyperia but very impressive for its age.
@@all-caps3927 was near back, been on it before it past and it felt alot better. i know you have to keep head back in seat but i couldn't as ride was so rough
Thorpe Park/Merlin Entertainments I love that you are giving Colossus the TLC it needs with the Sparkle Project. But please, PLEASE give Colossus what it actually desperately needs, some new trains. They don’t need to be like the ones on Sik, just something to improve accommodations for larger riders and general rider comfort.
Agreed 100%, it's stopped me going on it a couple times because of the pain, even if I slimmed right down it would still hurt my thighs a lot because of my height
Worst trains in the country, and that's saying something as we have way too many unnecessarily lap-barred coasters. I'm 6ft3, sat back row and had no room for feet or knees, balls crashed by stupid seat bump, shoulders bruised, had to ride defensively the whole time, awful.
I think they have modified carts at the back for bigger people if I heard correctly on the speaker. I'm 6'1 and I really struggled at the front, but if you place your knees correctly early on so that they don't bang it can still be more comfortable than SAW
In DIRE need of new trains though honestly.. amazing ride but too rough and uncomfortable. Not suitable if you're over the 6ft mark and want to be comfortable. I think as well as retracking they should invest in new trains to make the experience more comfortable
Completely agree here. Went to thorpe first time this week. I am 189 cm (6,2 feet) and regularly build. The harnass left me bruised on the upper chest and shoulders. Never had this issue with any other coasters before. The max length listed is 195 cm but I really cannot believe anyone that tall can even fit in it. It was the only coaster I only rode once that day for this reason as well.
My personal opinion: Such an underrated ride the part upside down three times is better than i expected and not scary. i counted ten times when i watched the pov before hand and it doesn’t feel like it at all. its a good ride overall. just a bit jolty
I WAS ON THERE AND MY HARNESS THING WASNT ON ME PROPERLY AND STAFF DID NOTHING DIDNT EVEN CHECK IF WE WERE CLICKED IN loved it though good ride just had to literally stop me from falling out y on this ride the most loops bruuuu hahaha
This ride is a lot of fun, sadly its such a hard ride for me, not because of roughness but the train/restraint design! Im 6ft2 and quite big so getting on and off is a nightmare and the restraints are hell on my thighs! Would be nice to see them replace them as part of sparkle but thats wishful thinking lol
>None of Intamin's lift hill release sound is heard LEMME HEAR IT, DAMN YOU 😂 Seriously though, I can't wait to give this another try when the new season comes along with the new repaint and stuff! Give this iconic ride Sik's trains too, while you're at it!
I remember going on this the first time and having a panic attack and then on the same day I went on it again and was screaming but hey at least my heart was beating 2000 per minute
My god the GP in the replies don't know what they are talking about. Yes it 100% Needs lap bars and more open trains like Sik at flamingo land (Which is the same coaster model, same layout, but it's taller, much faster, and has lap bars)
@@3brenm There are only 2 corkscrews, you mean the heartline rolls, and with lap bars you actually get enjoyable hangtime which makes this stupid repetitive element actually enjoyable, rather than just a shoulder bruiser
This had such a long queue even though you have the cut in pass i had platinum meaning i could go on all cyt through more than once but even having the pass the queue was still long
It honestly needs the Sik Lap bar trains more than an actual retrack those bulky restraints are horrid and no chance for big or tall people trying to fit in them
Was amazing however very shakey and came off with ringing ears and a headache becauss of poor padding if the ride were smoother and dint near give me a concussion it would have been one of my faves 😁
i went on it for the first time in april 2022. My. Head. Was bleeding... I went on it again in april 2023 :) My. Head. Was comforted :) it was so nice coz the seats actually had pads :)
