  • In 2021, five-year-old Minenhle’s life in Ngwavuma was a daily struggle. Living with her grandparents who had no stable income, finding themselves in dire straits day by day. That year, World Vision's Sponsorship Programme gifted Minenhle an indigenous chicken -a gesture that marked the beginning of a remarkable transformation.
By 2024, that single chicken had multiplied into 43, providing financial stability and nourishment for her family. Minenhle’s grandmother sold some chickens to buy a goat, which, in turn, gave birth to a kid, further increasing their assets and security. The income from selling chickens has covered Minenhle’s school bus fees and even bought her a warm tracksuit for winter.
The transformation didn’t stop there. Thanks to the Sigwe Water Project, launched by World Vision Eswatini in partnership with Esicojeni Foundation in 2019, Minenhle’s grandmother could start a backyard garden, something she couldn't do before due to the lack of accessible water. This garden now provides fresh vegetables for the family and extra income from selling the surplus at the local market.
Minenhle’s story is a testament to the profound impact of sustainable support. From one chicken, their journey has evolved into a cycle of growth and stability. Through World Vision’s initiatives, this family now has #ENOUGH food and resources, giving them hope, security, and a brighter future.
