John, this cover, along with the others that you've done, are top notch and provide a great learning resource for drummers. I hope that you will come back some day and continue to share your talents.
My God, that looked difficult...and to think that Danny created it and plays it likes it's a walk in the park...for most, it takes weeks and weeks for even experienced and talented drummers such as yourself John, to learn to play it, and just to memorize all of the songs parts is hard enough! Nicely done...keep up the good work!
Danny Carey is an absolute genius. Most cannot comprehend what he is playing. Those who can comprehend... Cannot replicate it. And even those who can replicate Danny, cannot match him. But you did an amazing job!
Congratulations John that was pretty amazing!! I'm sure there isn't a better cover of this fantastic song in all youtube. You're simply brilliant ;) 6:55 to 8:20 it's always been my favourite part in the song and you did so great, you seemed a rythim machine or something like that moving your whole body xD. And the end feels so epic! Congrats again man!
Thanks man! Those parts were definitely the most difficult to learn with all of the Swiss triplets and polyrhythms. I had to start at half speed with just my hands, then bring in my right foot, then my left foot, then slowly raise tempo in increments of 5 bpm, to learn this part!
simply awesome cover of a true drumming masterpiece. the quality is truly outstanding too! thank you so much for sharing your talents and for all the time and energy you devote. You make RUclips a better place!
Yes!!! Love the drums only! Plz do this with all your other tool covers. I play all bass covers to your tool drumming, and I love playing with the drums only ones to challenge my timing and rhythm, memory and structure of the song. Keep up the good work man!
Trying to count the polyrhythmic ratios without the rest of the band is way easier this way. Tool and Meshuggah (especially Clockworks in the latter case) songs always throw me off because there are so many layers of pulse that you can feel in different ways that it becomes difficult to nail them down without pulling some of them out of context. Thanks for this. It's clarified much.
