You just brought back some old memories. When I was a teenager in the sixties our radios were am. We listened to wls from Chicago at night. We lived in Georgia. Night time on am radio was a glorious time. I ordered this radio today. I enjoy swl and especially at night.
I have ordered one PL-330. As a radio amateur I want to have a small and compact receiver to bring with me. I am also a SW-listener, and I think this radio is a great choice.
Me the same. I bought mine as a travel radio, and I'm perfectly happy to deal with a slight increase in weight and size compared to "traditional" traveler radios, to gain the many, many extra features of the PL 330.
With shipping, I had to pay just pennies under One Hundred Bucks for mine. Not that I care. I like this radio so much, I quickly ordered a second on! Just to have a spare to take out on hikes, overnights and camp outs! Still worth every cent.
I've received (from China) the Tecsun PL-330. Interestingly, when the MW (AM) band is selected, both icons for "MW" & "SW" are displayed and MW reception is terrible!! Tried cycling the power off & on with no improvement. The Tecsun has the most recent firmware (3305). I've looked for a "reset" button on the back, sides & battery compartment, plus searched online for an explanation. I'm at a loss!! Has anybody experienced the same issue?? Did I miss something in the user manual?? Thank you!!
Try this: With the radio on, press and hold the Number Three button. Keep it pressed till it shows CH-A, this tells the radio to use the internal antenna for MW. If it says CH-5 it is using the External Antenna Jack and disables the internal ferrite antenna. When the external antenna mode is active, it displays the MW and SW icons. This should fix it :)
Hej thanks for the info yes have seen many tests and videos on this radio and it gets thumbs up everywhere. And i have the Tecsun Pl-380 nice radio but the Tecsun PL-330 is a nice upgrade take care.
@@SangiTariq Hej I agree with you Tecsun 380 does not have such a good sound but it came out on the market a long time ago. But when it comes to Tecsun's newest radio devices that have come out, they have improved the speakers Tecsun 990 also has very good speakers. I have bought a small radio from Katio KA-345 I am very happy with that radio good sound and todderbert has also tested it. I have bought some radio devices that todderbert recommended and have always been satisfied. Todderbert knows what he's doing, he knows his stuff so glad I found his RUclips channel. Love radios shortwave, Am, FM and very fond of listening to the airbands take care be safe out there have nice week.
@@SangiTariq Hej Tecsun PL- 330 have synchronous detection, single-sideband reception and upgraded ETM called ETM+ which the Tecsun PL-380 does not have and the PL 330 have better sound. Furthermore, the Tecsun PL-330 is powered by a single BL-5C i would have preferred it to be powered by standard AA batteries. But but I'm starting to get used to BL-5C batteries seems to be getting more of that type in new radio devices. So it should be interesting to test the PL-330 this summer i like to be out and try the shortwave bands take care.
Is there any link to PL-330 like yours, EU or international edition, with 850 memory slots? All pictures shows 650, but in review on Amazon (there is only one) user says it has 850 memory slots.
The 660 has the advantage of being an analog radio, therefore no muting or chuffing as you tune it. My big interest is ham SSB and I think I had a radio with a problem as the BFO just didn't work well to tune in weaker SSB signals. I've heard more SSB on the PL-330 in three weeks of owning one than I did in two years of owning the PL-660. The ETM+ feature on the PL-330 is nice too.
Hi Todderbert, Which battery powered (AA or AAA) small pocket radio has the best (excellent) FM reception according to you? Could you please advice me? Thank you....
I just got this radio, how do I know what firmware version I have? The back of the radio has Chinese writing. I heard there was issues with older firmware.
Press and hold the VF/VM Button when the radio is off, the screen will fill up. Let go, then watch for a number in the top right display box, mine is 3305 with a sticker on the back of the radio Dated 1-2021.

Given the good reviews and the price, if any SWL doesn't add this radio to their collection they must be nutty.
I have the R9012. Cost 20.00 and worth every penny.I do agree,it looks like a very solid radio loaded with many useful features.

You sold me. The fact the ferrite can be disconnected means I do beacon searches on longwave. Got mine ordered and looking forward to getting it.

Looking forward to one of these radios.
Thanks for the video!
I'd love to own one of those, but they're still quite expensive for me

Curious question: are you looking at a chart that tells you the different AM radio stations and their call letters or do you just know them?
I know most. There is a cheat sheet handy next to me in case I draw a blank.
Lovely Receiver I have one

How do you switch from internal mw antenna to external
Power on Radio, select MW band, Press and Hold the Number Three button till CH-5 is displayed. To go back repeat the process till CH-A is displayed.

Is this radio an upgrade to my PL-660 or just a newer alternative? If I bought it would I find myself picking it up before the 660?
Great question
I found this model great, but in the present world situation, I will be rewarded by waiting for the next model. That will be awesome.

DSP radios do very well on FM. If you want stereo you`ll have to carefully check descriptions.
