Wow, that's a pretty neat setup. I especially like that switching mechanism, so simple it's elegant. A rough looking unfinished kind of elegant only certain people can truly appreciate, reminds me of the ole saying "There's nothing more permanent than a temporary solution that works."
You made an awesome machine! Thanks for the ideas and tips. We are to making plans to build something for our young daughter who has difficulty walking.
@Bill Blanning~ This version really turned out slick! I like the alterations you made to it so that the lift now carries you all the way up to your living room area....avoiding the 2nd set of steps all together. That was really smart! Ingenious! I sent you an email this morning and look forward to chatting with you soon! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and innovation with us! ~~Christy~~
I'd prefer full width, completely covering stair. I suppose it would need to be sturdy enough to walk down in case of power failure. I'm wondering whether altering the stairs at all would violate code? Excellent video, I've need wanting to install an escalator forever.
I'm years late, but I love it!! I think apartment complexes should have these for delivery. Lolol. Especially when they are on 3rd floor with 5 cases of water. Lol. Never mind. I see the grocery video. Lol
this is great! is there any way you could post the link to picturs of the blueprint? the focus of the camera is a bit off so it makes it hard to see. fantastic invention and plan though!
a walker must be able to go up the stairs too. It's a nice leap forward but inability for a walker to advance up the stairs with a passenger is a major obstacle.
Would it be possible to build this as an outdoor solution to stairs? How would I protect the motor and mechanisms? Thank you kindly! I live in a steep area and can’t keep using the stairs to get to my car.
@@billblanning2068 Would the rail part be safe in wet weather and using in the rain? It’s just using a hoist with wire cable right? So as long as the motor is safe? But what about wet cable? Should I build an overhang to prevent as much rain as I can from getting to it? Can this be built to any steepness? Is it dependent on being built on stairs or can it be built on a slope, let’s say along the side of a stilted carport?
@@TheSoulAlignmentCoach lYes steepness doesn't matter. You might use Superstrut (Home depot electric area) to center it and certainly not need stairs except you might get stuck without them if it failed.. I found wheels with a V on thrm that could be used on superstrut but I can't remember where
The hoist motor was a Harbor Freight 1300 lb hoist using 2 lines but I only used one which put it at 650. Look at my other 2 on youtube under BLANNING. the $250 elevator escalator used 2 lines and did fine at 440 lbs.

Your invention is extraordinary, and it can help many people who have problems with their knees, feet, etc.; can you sell me one? I need it for my sister, she lives in Cancun, she has knee problems.
I'd worry about how safe it would be once you get a bit older and balance and mobility become more of a problem - the time when you need it the most...
It is exactly like walking up the stairs .. you use the bannister for stability and there is no problem, plus the safety line on the side quickly stops it ... if needed.
@@lisamarieragazza8014 I didn't make one, I just planned and built it from plans in my head ... trial and error. using the "$250 elevator escalator" and the "moving stair" controls.
I used to climb the stairs over riding in an elevator all the time until Fibromyalgia entered my life and changed everything. Some days, I can climb 20 steps without a problem, most times however, two steps are problematic. I used to love to hike, play tennis, walk 5 to 10 miles a day, swim and all kinds of things. Now, those things are sad to even remember. Don't get me wrong, I'm not feeling sorry for myself and don't want anyone else to feel bad for me either. Even with all this, I'm still better off than others. I count my blessings all the time. Not everyone can enjoy the climb of the stairs for many different and very real reasons, which makes the need for stair lifts real.

This is super clever and well thought out. Thank you for taking the time so share it.
Absolutely Outstanding, clearly a pleasure to have stumbled across this video , such precision used what a brilliant mind!!!! ROCK ON !!!!

Your welcome, glad to help
Simple but well-thought out and precise design. I wish you were my friend so I could pick your brain on some of my ideas. Keep inventing!
THANKI Y0U, IT'S TRIAL AND ERROR AND TRY AGAIN TIL IT WORKS.
Your invention is awesome!! I could use two. One to the basement and one upstairs!
Sorry, but it is a DIY or a Do it yourself video
Great one Bill! All I need now is a house in which to install it!! :-)
Dude, You're a genius !!!!!!

Mis respetos buen hombre, y muchas gracias por ayudarnos a entender el sistema
Amazing . Keep it up. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is great!
Very cool!
Bill Blanning, i think this is wonderful. Would you be willing to draw out instructions for installation?
Sorry, it is like the $250 elevator escalator, which has some instructions but there are none for this one.
Ingenious Bill!

You might look at the $250 diy home escalator elevator video. Sorry ... or the "moving stair video. There are no pictures for any of them.
a walker must be able to go up the stairs too. It's a nice leap forward but inability for a walker to advance up the stairs with a passenger is a major obstacle.
Would it work outside, going up a simple 5 steps to a deck, especially in the NorthEast in the winters?
I think so ...just cover the motor, pipe and parts and brush the snow off
Would it be possible to build this as an outdoor solution to stairs? How would I protect the motor and mechanisms? Thank you kindly! I live in a steep area and can’t keep using the stairs to get to my car.
Yes, I think it would be the same but need a cover over the motor ....perhaps removable at the top of the stairs.

Csn you send details and fixing diagram..do you have in 220 volts and shipping cost to BAHRAIN
No, we have 110 volt and you have to work out the details ... it just demonstrates how I did it. Sorry
how about a box to cover the motor to reduce the noise
Your right, but the motor overheating if used more than a few times in a row means it would have to be done carefully. Certainly woth a try.
@@billblanning2068 I don't know anything, but would a simple fan help?
I honestley thought when you were riding it up you had like a remote or push button panel like on that dumbwaiter system you also showed
No, there is only the safety cutoff line on the side in case you have a need to stop.

Still really neat and certainly way cheaper than spending around 20 thousand dollars on an actual automatic elevator system
Could you get patent for this idea of yours, so that you can sell it
