    I'm shocked all these years later not one director could recreate the darkness and magic of the past Terminator films, all three directors failed. Only James Cameron succeeded.

      +Aydın ALTAŞ Yeah it's sad really. It's like the directors of our time have forgotten that these types of films is what built this town. It's like a bunch of students who have forgotten who the master is, and now think they are the master when in fact they have much MUCH to learn. If that makes sense.

      It is because Cameron got some true talent. It is sad he stopped shooting films. I do not like Avatar too much. I like darkness horror sci fi movies with deep thought :)

    • @matthewburns3471
      @matthewburns3471 5 лет назад +2

      Maybe because the directors afterwards didn't try to outdo Cameron?
      T3 had Arnie sporting stupid glasses basically making fun of the character.
      TSalvation was totally it's own thing compared with T1-3.
      TGenesys was a weird mess.
      It seems to start off being clever and ends up being ridiculous, cheap, and frankly it's boring.
      The VFX are decent but the characters are totally off, all of them. The Story is nonsensical and shouldn't have ever been greenlit at all.

      Christopher Spaulding My theory has always been that they made T2 too well. It made it difficult to do follow up films. It's almost impossible to match what was done which is why T3 and Salvation were disappointing with fans. I feel hopeful with the New movie that's coming out though.

    Folks, what is really scary is that in another decade or two all the action stars of the 80-90's and talnted film directions will be gone and what will we be left with? Today's action stars and movie makers are beyond horrendous ....

    • @duckrutt
      @duckrutt 8 лет назад +3

      What are you saying, that the trend of interchangeable generically attractive action heroes is the wrong way to go? Or that writing a lazy script with an ending that leaves the film wide open for a sequel rather than telling a complete story is bad? Or maybe you think directors should have the freedom to use the creativity they were hired for rather than bowing to studio pressure?
      Movies cost too much to let art get in the way of business.

      @bigblueassbaby9074 5 лет назад +3

      As Hurricane said, it's mostly about the abuse of CGI. Some things that can be done in practical effects aren't. For example, in this movie, the Judgement Day scenes were done with miniatures and actually caught on camera. Today, they would've animated that scene in CG. Also, the T-1000 effects had to be done in CGI because it wasn't feasible to do it with practical effects. At the time, these were groundbreaking effects. Almost 30 years later, admittedly, they don't hold up. However, almost all of the practical stuff still holds up. Effects are more believeable when actually caught on camera. If an effect can be done practical, it should.

    This is one of the best movies ever and one of my personal favorites with lotr and tdk. What i love about t2 is the sense of hopelessness and doom that cant be escaped from. The score helps with bringing those feelings to life. The cast was brilliant especially arnold schwarzenneger who embodies the terminator, his face expressions and mannerisms as the human looking killing machine were perfect and the character development was awesome especially in his relationship with young john connor. Robert patrick was the perfect villain in contrast to arnie. Jim cameron is a master director, one of the greats and after t2 every terminator movie failed to capture the spirit of the first 2. Maybe genisys will get this franchise back on the right track even though i doubt it....

    I can still remember being 11 yrs old when seeing the first 5 minutes of T2. That future war scene with the endoskeletons and flying HKs... I kept asking myself "How did they do that?" They mind-fucked me. I really thought they might of dressed up actual helicopters or something. There has NEVER been any CGI shit to duplicate what they did in that beginning scene.

    This is by far the best of the terminator series. In 1991/1992, watching this in cinema was a luxury for me in my country. I managed to watch it twice. And then laser discs came out, managed to watch the special editions.
    James cameron is by far the best director for all the terminator movies. I like Terminator Salvation though, Christian Bale makes an awesome John Connor.

    I will never forget seeing this on the big screen. We hired a teenage babysitter to watch our 2 young sons. I told her to give my youngest son a bottle of prune juice. When we got home he projectile vomited prune juice across the room. Apparently, she let him drink about half a bottle of prune juice, instead of the 4 oz baby bottle I set out. I'm just thankful it came out of the top end of him instead of the bottom end. Ah, memories...
