This is still probably the funniest comedy bit I have ever seen. We've all had funny observations and ideas, but the ability of key and peele to turn theirs into an actually funny sketch is 2nd to none

I actually think they portray it from the beginning as them being strangers...it's really subtle, but if you look closely, it appears that Key was just walking by and about to pass Peele until he saw what he was looking at
I don't think we assume they're friends. We know that they are strangers, but we (as well as Key's charakter) assume they have a common ground, so that they can immediately start a conversation about women with one another: They are both men and they are interested in women. The sketch tells us that we cannot assume we're knowing each other just because we are men or look like men. The totally different type of clothes underlines that they're total strangers and they have in fact nothing in common.
