- Can you see air? Not exactly. But you can feel air, right? What makes up the air that is so important for the survival of life on earth? What are its constituents? Air is not just one thing, a number of gaseous substances above earth’s surface together form what we call air. Let’s learn about the composition of air through this video.
The earth is covered with a blanket of air called the atmosphere. Among the few fundamental elements, it is the most important because no life can exist for a pulse of time without it. The atmosphere is an ocean of these gases. It consists of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1 % other gases and water vapour.
Properties of Air
Some common properties of air are as follows:
Colorless
Odourless
Occupy space
Exerts pressure
Expansion
