- The 2020 BMW 8 series IS The BMW of all BMWs. Think of the vehicles with 8 in the name, Z8 and i8. This is the top of the line for BMW. This is the first 4 door 8 series to be produced. This is the second generation of the 8 series. The last year it was produced new was 1997. 6-gran coupe was the sexiest looking car of it’s time when it came out. 8-gran coupe definitely can fill those shoes.

Neither the 6GC neither this 8series is suposed to be a 4 door. They look (sorry for the word) retarded. These cars are developed and designed from scratch to be a coupe, and one can see the lines on the 4 door version dont look natural. Want 4 door? Buy a 5/7series.
ferfire9 i agreed. Gran Coupe looks stupid. Now I understand there’s a demand for these cars to have 4 doors, but you are right from the get go the design is for a coupe. If you want a car designed to be a grand coupe go look at an RS7 or a CLS. They nail the gran coupe design.

This new flagship design for the 8 series is just awesome, in my humble (and long-time Lexus owner) opinion. As with a number of the newer models, Scott, I'm really impressed with how the BMW designers keep coming up with new, cool ways to design those wheels. I may well have to consider a purchase of either this or the 6 series as I mull over the idea of buying German the next time around. In any event, another excellent video from you and Lauren.

My choice would be an exterior silver or metallic grey but it's a sexy car . Congrats on owning a 2001 E38 ! That model is possibly the sexiest 4 door BMW ever made .

The 8 series Gran Coupe ( any model 840, 850, Alpina ) is the best looking 4 door on the road. If you need 4 doors and want to arrive in style, it is ultimate driving machine.

Unfortunate they didn't go with the hatch style trunk like on the 435i GC. That's got to be my single favorite practical feature on my F36 and makes a world of difference. I've taken the car to multiple tracks and transported a flat-packed KING mattress frame from Ikea. It has more storage capacity than a lot of small SUV's!

I really wish I could have ordered these wheels on my M8 Competition Convertible...these wheels look much better! I love the GC overall as well. BTW, I love that she's a true BMW driver!!!

Love your videos Scott but can’t agree with your comments re comparisons with the 6GC. As someone who owns an M6 GC this is basically the next generation upgrade to that car series. By calling it the 8 BMW have a reason to add on an extra 20-30 grand above and beyond the normal price increase from what this would have been if it was the new 6 series generation. Of course what you now call the 6 is the old 5 series GT. fair play to BMW no doubt we will keep buying them none the less so why wouldn’t they do this.

A very lovely looking car. I have to say though had a bit of a laugh. At 16:46 if you look at the title of the song displayed it was "Crash into Me" Dave Matthews Band.... not sure really what you want to have happen. I noticed on the sheet when Lauren was reading it out, you briefly mentioned the sound upgrade... Is it worth it and is it much better than the standard Harmon and Kardon ( or is this not the standard one in the M850i ?? The doors already had Bowers and Wilkins on them so as I was of the understanding that on its own is a very good sound system? so from that I assume there is more than one level of bowers and wilkins sound system? I assume the "upgrade" is number of speakers and wattage change? or is it much more than that ?
Depends how much this is important for you(how much of an audiophile you might be) , I think the Bowers and Wilkins is absolutely incredible, not worth it if you're in the Convertible. I think Harmon Kardon is just fine and you really won't be missing out THAT much if you don't have Bowers and Wilkins, but if you can go all in, and price doesn't matter, I'd say enjoy it to the max! The Bowers and Wilkins allows you to choose sound profiles, so if you like playing around with that, it is truly an experience in itself whilst in the car....but not necessary. M850i and its crazy 523hp are for sheer driving pleasure :) :)
