So we know there’s £65m available right..? Are you telling me there is no one better than either Miggy/Murphy or Krafth available for that sort of money? I think we need to hear from Mitchell and Eales because this has been quite shambolic
Osula = squad player Hall = here last year Vlachodimos = squad player Ruddy = squad player Kelly = squad player If those players are deemed appropriate by the hierarchy to catapult us into the next stage then they haven’t got a clue. No marquee signings to show our intention to the rest of the league. We have stood still whilst others strengthen. If this is all we have we can aim for a top 10 finish and that’s it. It’s been an woeful transfer window
Vlach was solely brought in for psr loophole. Wouldn’t be suprised to see him leave either for a fee or atleast get a loan fee for him. Ruddy was brought it for experience as a professional which we’ll never fully see behind the scenes. Osula was brought in as a player to progress into hopefully a solid striker or atleast a decent option off the bench. Kelly was free and highly appreciated by Bournemouth fans. We’ve still not seen the best of him and could cover our arses by playing lb and cb. We’d all love to see 60/70/80m players walk into the training ground but atm it just doesn’t seems possible. The cash was obviously there to spend on guehi tho so I don’t agree with how long it’s went on either, last week or week before I would have been looking else where and bringing in a rw + cb for 30/40m each. But hopefully the club proves why they didn’t do that
Midtable finish is a bit over the top, we finished last season, 8 points off top 4. With a season ravaged by injuries. We simply cannot suffer that many again this season due to how many less games we're playing in the first half of the season. We've also kept our best players. We'll finish inside top 6 I've got no doubt
@@adamc5477 but whilst we have stood still and arguably went backwards with our transfers, other teams around us have strengthened. Teams like Brighton and West Ham have done far better business than us and will look to push up the table. Look what happened in 12/13 we finished 5th under pardew in 11/12 and only brought in Anita the following season, then we finished 16th because we simply didn’t add enough quality to the team and we suffered. Yes we had Europe that season, but it’s shown as an example that if you don’t strengthen the club stands still and the rest push you further down the league. I hope you’re right, but we are only a few injuries away from being completely hamstrung.
@jonathanward7320 yes I agree a few teams around us have signed a lot of players, especially West Ham. But it doesn't always guarantee success, and they've signed a shit ton of new players which I don't think will work straight away. Brighton are good but I don't think they'll sustain it over the course of the season, and Villa will probably struggle with the Champions league like we did. As long as we keep the main bulk of players fit, like Pope, Bruno, J7, Isak and Gordon etc, I think we'll honestly be fine. 5th could also get a Champions league place, so who knows. I think a good win against Spurs at home is a must though
@@adamc5477 The issue is, those teams we have both mentioned are showing serious ambition to try and compete and trying to break the top 6. Are you suggesting that with the players we’ve signed so far in this window that we have the same ambition as a club that they have shown?
Question for all - if the club agreed to spend 500m and had a discussion with the existing players and 5 world class signings to say we are planning to spend a season in the championship through PSR to then go on to challenge for the Premier league there after, would that be worth doing rather then plodding along the europa conference train for the foreseeable???
Disgrace the club not backing Howe after all he’s done since coming here, they are wanting to replace him imo which would be mental. They can bang on about PSR all they like but fact is every other club is able to spend while we are sat on our hands doing nothing. We will finish mid table at best this season as we have a strong starting 11 but a couple of injuries (which is inevitable) and we are fucked.
People need to remember at the start of the window there was fear about Bruno, Isak or Gordon being sold. We've kept all our stars from the 2022/3 4th place squad, no-one of huge importance to the team has left, and we got great deals on Anderson and Minteh who did leave. Since that campaign we brought in Tonali and Barnes who for various reasons weren't available most of last season but are now better integrated and settled; and Livramento and Hall who have (for the same "various" reasons) had a lot more first team opportunity than anticipated and arguably are both now first choice in their positions. A year ago we had those 4 available but all untested and uncertain (and add Miley to that), so that makes the squad stronger. Every squad can be improved and it is encouraging to see the level of player the club has shown interest in, but also their discipline in considering PSR and future consequences rather than trading for the sake of trading and risking losing stars before next June 30.
@@Cristobal_2012 I don't know if it will finish 4th, that depends on injuries and other teams. But they've done it before and they are certainly capable of doing it again. There were hundreds of commenters like you saying the exact same last season after we were out of the ECL and hovering around 10th in the EPL. Well, they're still here. Get used to being wrong.
@@Cristobal_2012 I'm basing what the team is capable of doing on what the players already at the club have already done, having only been strengthened since then, NO key components of that team have left and Gordon, Tonali, Livramento, Hall and Barnes have all been added, along with extra firepower in Osula. Perhaps older players like Trippier and Wilson are arguably less of a force than 2 years ago but the rest of the players have improved as individuals, Howe's strength is in coaching after all. The defence is (temporarily) disrupted but the five key members of that 2022/3 2nd-meanest back 5 are still at the club and arguably Hall and Livramento are upgrades, or at worst stronger competition for Burn and Trippier.
@@Cristobal_2012 We're a long way from Liverpool under Klopp but they have a whole new manager/system to get used to and tailed off badly last season. First 3 games (or for most of them) we've been without both our first choice central defenders, the two coming in are not as comfortable in possession or as capable of playing through presses which has left midfield under pressure. Joelinton tried to do too much against Bournemouth rather than pass back to an (ideally smartly-positioned) central defender and that cost us the goal. With Botman (or Schar, or a Guehi-type) been on the field that is much less likely to happen and the rest of the team have more opportunity to break the lines.
@Kyle_Demp for the right player to improve us. I honestly believe we are struggling to attract the quality players as Newcastle isn't classed as a fashionable place to live and we can't offer European football.
The amount of fans who think real life football is like a career mode on fifa is ridiculous! 'Just go and sign this rw from this club, give them the 50mil and get it done' it doesn't work like that unfortunately, the only way we will be able to spend that sort of money every window is if we can sell about the same value of players every window. PSR will come to bite quite a few clubs over the next few years and I'd rather not be one of them, especially with the added scrutiny we quite due to the PIF
If anything the last few days of transfers for Liverpool should show everyone that not a single media outlet has a fucking clue about our transfer targets. 2 months ago it was “Valencia will only accept offers of 35-40M for Marmadashvilli”. Liverpool are picking him up for 25+4. A month ago there was Chisea speculation (for what seems to be the 4-5th window in a row), with outlets saying Juve would only accept bids in the region of 20M, and again, Liverpool managed to get him for 12.
@@kyletomey43yes, attractive to players, but that doesn’t explain the differences in transfer fees between the clubs. Why would Marmadashvili be be 40 for Newvastle and 25 for Liverpool?
Love it when the seasons over before it began. Suppose a tough fight for 8th place is more exciting then the Ashley era. 5 year plan looks a joke though
Hello, I have a question for the local fans. I haven't seen Newcastle in a long time, but I don't like the current coach and board member. What do you think about the local fans' transfer market and manager?
That mackem reporter has some nerve to accuse Eddie of being disingenuous. She is an embarrassment. She can spin any of her fairy tales in the rag she writes in without wasting everyone's time with such questions.
i will add that it was in no way eddies fault and that like he says the player needs to right before they commit to them, if not it potentially puts more strain on the club in the future which is not what we want. my only concern is that the few star players we have wont see it this way and may be tempted to jump ship but eddies hands are tied, so we shall see.
The reporters are embarrassing! Always trying to get Eddie to talk about relationship between other members of staff! Its getting boring listening to them go on and on about it! He's just short of saying "stop asking the same questions in different ways....You get the same answer"
If Amanda was still here Guehi would be having his photo taken in b&w. Firesale of our young talent followed by a very badly handled transfer bid. Our first two bids were so low if CP valued him at £65m . If these bids were close to our valuation we should have walked weeks ago. All in public too? An Ashley window. Were we ever serious with Guehi or are we back to spinning the fanbase? "We tried so hard but ... in the end just couldn't get him over the line ..." Yeah right?
Best way to deal with the more annoying members of the media is not to. Don't click their links, don't buy their publications. They'll soon go away. They're just trying to make money no matter what the means.
'Newcastle i think arnt anywhere near where they hoped to be cause of PSR issues.... And it's showed in the first 2 games.. I can't see a top 6 unfortunately
We have had plenty opportunities to upgrade the right side of our attack , you can’t pretend that a scouting network at a club our size hasn’t got a portfolio of players in that position that would be a vast upgrade on Miggy and Murphy .. this was the season to finish off the front three and finally balance the quality on both sides of Isak, failure this season will lead to the loss of our best players .. and failure it is because PIF put these people in positions at the club with a definite remit for each roll and a salary to match .. no excuses and no pretence at “difficult” windows .. you are all tasked with dealing in this arena .

PSR is stifling investment into the Premier league. That means less quality being brought in by many clubs. It works for the top six, as they make so much money they can offest their debts, and afford to splash the cash. Man Ure and Chelsea get to do what they want.

I feel like we shout give Trips a try on the right wing now that we have solid full back options. Going forward is his main strength and we haven't got anyone else who can get the ball in the box on the right .... just a thought
He’s better at overlapping from full back. Gordon or Barnes are the best right wingers
@@RoddieCole Barnes - not convinced, Gordon better on the left. Trips can get backs in the box, that’s all we need really
I don’t hate it as an idea but he can’t take on/beat a man and doesn’t have a finish on him. So yeah, I hate it. Don’t be daft.

Howay the Toon. Lets give Spurs another North East whooping 👍
When Palece didn't accept the 65 million we should have walked. That's what they priced him at, anything after that was just taking the piss
Why are these released hours after it happened? Instead of live, or shortly after? Not hours after the fact!
It got released 2 hours after it happened 😁
It is available live on the club app.
WHY would it bother you ? - You're seeing it 48hrs before the game !(pre-game press conference)
So we know there’s £65m available right..? Are you telling me there is no one better than either Miggy/Murphy or Krafth available for that sort of money? I think we need to hear from Mitchell and Eales because this has been quite shambolic
It is what it is
Osula = squad player
Hall = here last year
Vlachodimos = squad player
Ruddy = squad player
Kelly = squad player
If those players are deemed appropriate by the hierarchy to catapult us into the next stage then they haven’t got a clue.
Please journalists stop asking the same questions!!! Its boring!!!
Not talking about ‘specific names’ doesn’t really wash when it’s been played out in public.
❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😅😅😅😅😅😅
Very true.
About time someone talking reality and sense. Great post
Sick and tired of hearing about “PSR” as an excuse. Every single club has to deal with it yet make signings…..
Aspirations are far bigger than PSR will allow. Need to increase revenue. Getting into Europe essential this year
@@Sybertrader8 clubs setting Howe upto fail. Not backed for 2 windows…. Howe will be gone by the end of the season and we’ll not have Europe again 🙂
Most other clubs have got and have sold players with value. We started with no players with any transfer value which is the biggest problem.
@@kyletomey43 we literally have £70 mil bids on the table, cash ain’t the problem
Most of the speculation is media related, rather than club related.
Liverpool are more attractive than Newcastle currently for players which makes it easier for them in the transfer market.
What a whopper.

I hope there’s a surprise up their sleeve or this has been a disaster window
100% a disaster window, hate to say it but Ashworth would of got us a few through the door, Mitchell has a lot to prove.
With PSR, get used to disappointment.
i will add that it was in no way eddies fault and that like he says the player needs to right before they commit to them, if not it potentially puts more strain on the club in the future which is not what we want.
my only concern is that the few star players we have wont see it this way and may be tempted to jump ship but eddies hands are tied, so we shall see.
It's almost like you haven't watched the video...At all...

Our first two bids were so low if CP valued him at £65m . If these bids were close to our valuation we should have walked weeks ago. All in public too?

In terms of "Profit and Sustainability", can the PIF not just show the Premier League a screenshot of their Monzo account with a balance of two trillion dollars and say, "don't worry, it's sustainable" ?? Or is that a massive oversimplification? 😅
PSR is stifling investment into the Premier league. That means less quality being brought in by many clubs. It works for the top six, as they make so much money they can offest their debts, and afford to splash the cash. Man Ure and Chelsea get to do what they want.
