If police are choosing to wear a political symbol, they have now stopped being an unbiased policing organisation. To that end, I will choose to ignore any demands they make as I do not follow their political ideology. I am more than happy to go to court on this matter.

As a former Met. officer I retain the belief that the pride in the uniform is the only "badge of honour"
needed.for any officer who knows the essential value of impartiality in police work. The apparent
development of politically influenced police management has seen a depressing shift away from

Considering ten times more people have died in police custody than police officers in the line of duty, would it not be more respectful too wear a badge for them, show people they are trying to learn from their mistakes.

The pride flag is a political flag. Why is the police - an organization that is funded by the public and is there to serve the public - aligning themselves with a political movement? They are supposed to be completely neutral.
They are meant to exercise their duties without fear or favour.

Remembering fallen colleagues with a badge is respectful. Wearing a pride patch is not something that should happen as it is a way of life. Perhaps we should have a straight patch/flag so the police can wear them as I am offended my sexuality is not being put on police uniforms. To stop any arguments perhaps the police and any other bodies like that, (fire service, NHS) should only wear the union flag to signify they are British police, fire etc.

The Thin Blue(police)/Red(fire)/Green(ambulance)Line badges aren't defaced Union flags as they're not Union Flags and therefore can't be defaced ones.
The entire pride and rainbow population in the UK is about 3.2% of the population. Probably the same percentage in other Western democracies. If the whole society is to be organized according to 3.2%, the other 96.8% will probably feel reasonably pissed off in the long run.

That badge does not honour fallen officers, it tells officers like Simon Harwood, David Carrick, and Wayne Couzens that the wearer will turn a blind eye to their infractions.
