      Hi, is it best to sync carb's at 1300rpm or 3000rpm, and if the outer carb's are jetted smaller than the inner do you have to sync the outer carb's lower then the inner carb's with them been different sizes, or just sync them all the
      same.. Thanks

    • @TheMotorcycleMD
      @TheMotorcycleMD  Год назад +1

      @@cbrf4r579 Carburetor synchronizing has NOTHING to do with air/fuel mixtures and how they are metered inside the carburetor. Simply put, the purpose of carb synchronizing is to ensure that your bikes carburetors are all in the same RPM range at idle, so that each cylinder is drawing the same amount of vacuum through the carbs…

    Out the right side is a little easier for some reason. Especially if the black magic does not work to disconnect the throttle cables. Also after a few times in/out I started using a wide strap (nylon tie down) to hold the airbox and airbox boots back. It gives you an "extra" hand to slide carbs out. Looking forward to the next video.

    Everyone under the sun tells me to get rid of the fuel valve permanently. I heard you call it "Stupid Fuel Valve" too. LOL! Does that mean I should get rid of it? Mine is off now but wondering where you stand. LOVE your vids and I got a T-Shirt! 🙂

    Isn't that flat sliding spring supposed to be on the bottom of the air filter to push it up to seal the filter to the top of the air box?

    Diisconnect the hoses, pull the carbs out the left side, THEN remove the cables. Do the reverse to reinstall.

    I'm no expert but those clamps on the engine side don't look stock to me. They should be the same style as the clamps on the airbox side. (I think someone bought the engine side clamps at the hardware store.) I've been told not to use clamps with open slots in them because they dig into the rubber boots and can damage them. I'm glad taking the carbs off my 1975 CB750 is a much easier process than this CB900F.

    • @TheMotorcycleMD
      @TheMotorcycleMD  3 года назад

      I’m glad for you too! Over time the slotted clamps can definitely eat into the rubber, especially if they are never changed and over tightened the max 20 times through the years.
      They are not stock clamps. Maybe “bone stock” wasn’t the correct wording to use. This also have a Kerker pipe and the grips were aftermarket. But pretty dang close!

    Hey man I just watched all your carb videos. I got a 89 yamaha FZR 400 i got off of a guy on ebay unseen, no history and im trying to get it running. Wiring was a nightmare but thanks to your wiring vid I've gotten it as far as its turning over and starting try to chug to life. its a 4 cyl and on carb 3 i have fuel dripping out of the drain screw. I switched drain screws with carb 4 and it was still carb 3 that leaked. Also on the fuel rail i have 2 pipes which im not sure of. I think theyre breather hoses but I'm not too sure. Anyway I uploaded a video on my channel of the bike and what I'm talking about it. If you got a second i'd appreciate it.

    Thanks for the video! I just picked up a tip from your video. Use a piece of wood against the head and with a pry bar, pry the carbs off the manifolds. I've been screaming, cursing, and grunting to pull those carbs off all this time. Thanks!

    Stupid fuel valve is correct. I think I found the last original stock part for this in Greece for my Honda CB900c. Paid ridiculous money for it. I couldn't find a replacement for the rubber diaphragm inside. Any tips on where to find this would be helpful. Also for the connecting tubes.

    Hey man love the videos … am not super tech guy but thought I would ask here
    The rubber slow jet plug on 79 CB750
    What would symptoms be if the leaked or were too dried out?
    I have looked couldn’t find anything specific. I ordered 4 new ones but was just curious what happens if they don’t seal or worse yet you forget to put them in?
