Thank you. I needed this. These days I feel like I know nothing because everything I already learned is only on 15% - 60% level and I was always thinking that it is not enough. I hate myself when I see word I used to know perfectly and I have to look for its meaning. Its really frustrating.
To be honest, my "100% or nothing" thinking made me procrastinating because I set my mind "Well, I can learn this and that but after some time I will know only 40% of this and I cant everything repeat again and again" and I wont do anything. I hope this will change my mind. :)

Glad it was helpful! It’s very important to go easy on yourself and be patient because learning anything, especially Japanese, takes time^^

Right there with you. Two years in, and while my reading is pretty good, speaking, ugh! Listening, UGH! Getting sad about it all.

1st (but fr ) this is really good advice for anybody who is struggling with progression. If I could go back to starting studying Japanese I would have spent less time on Hiragana and Katakana, seeing things in big sentences and putting things into context train your brain to start to understand things so much faster than learning meaningless kanji/kana is so much more beneficial for long term progress than in retrospect consuming the same vocab over and over again.

Yessss, I definitely recommend spending time on kana at the start but it’s good to move on relatively fast to other stuff and just having a chart easily available somewhere to reference when you forget something
