My favorite thing about these reaction videos is that you can take a song like this that I've heard so many times that I never bother putting it on myself anymore, but watching somebody react to it for the first time brings me back to how I felt many years ago when I heard it for the first time.
I admire your courage. Taking a monumental song apart, being open to the genius of his words, the indescribable music. You lifted the rock to see what made it roll. There isn't much around today to compare it with. He was one of a kind. Thanks for opening your soul for his interpretation.
Its about a socialite, rich, concieted and proud. But she has a fall from high society--finds out how it feels to be on the *other* side, she's not so "high and mighty" any more. Loved that song way back then, still love it.
One story is the song is a warning by Dylan to Edie Sedgwick, whom Dylan was supposedly in love with at the time, when she was hanging out with Andy Warhol.
Bob Dylan started out playing an acoustic guitar and harmonica. The first time he performed with these musicians, he was booed. He knew it was the right move for him.
Bob Dylan won a Nobel Prize for his work. He's THAT big a deal. He is admired by millions of people, including President Jimmy Carter. He became a huge star (a reclusive and defiant star), and everybody listened carefully to his lyrics, just as you are doing. Great reaction. Peace.
In his disertation for the Nobel Prize he spoke only of writers that he loves in detail because he did not feel worthy of the prize. He does deserve it though as his poetry set to music spoke to a generation and those that followed. It's on You Tube and I disagree with him because I can get lost in a Dylan album as easily as a good book.
@Angela Owens I’m so glad to know that! Somehow I had the idea that he didn’t show up. You know the Adele/Garth Brooks song To Make You Feel My Love? Bob Dylan wrote that!!!
So glad to see a young man appreciate Bob Dylan. You broke it down perfectly ! That's exactly what it means. Dylan is known for putting his poetry to music. Check out all of his songs, especially " Positivley 4th Street "
My man. Dylan is the only songwriter to win the Pulitzer and Nobel prize for literature. They considered his songwriting such good poetry they broke the rules to give him the two highest honors in literature Check out Motorpsycho Nitemare for some more lyrical genius
Jimi Hendrix really loved his music so much he covered this at Monterey, where Jimi saw Dylan's grandma sittin in audience. Also covered Dylan's All Along The Watchtower.
You genuinely appreciate Bob Dylan for his lyrics, fantastic. This guy is an excellent rabbit hole if you're into bars. Keep listening to Dylan. Hurricane
To Make You Feel My Love is a song that both Adele and Garth Brooks recorded, but Bob Dylan wrote it. He’s a genius, and I’m so impressed by you that you listen to the lyrics and really feel them.
It's wonderful to watch you discover the brilliance of Dylan's lyrics. He's one of the greatest poets and a Nobel prize winning one. Love your reaction.
In my opinion he was the first one to see that modernist and simbolist poetry (eliot, pound, etc.) could be put in musical framing with very good results.
I had a chuckle when you said he is a very good writer. Listen to more Dylan and you will realize what a understatement that is. Some people like his words but not his voice. I like both. First song of his I remember hearing is "It ain't me babe".
Young Man, what you just listened to was voted by Rolling Stone Magazine as the Greatest Rock and Roll Song of all time. They did a Top 500 Rock and Roll song's of all time. Bob had about 5 in the top 150, including this as The Number 1. I appreciate your intelligence to recognize Greatness. 🤔🤗😎
My favorite by him. I remember being a teenager and we all listened so intently to 'the Prophet' Bob Dylan. We listened but didn't always follow through his words through life. Youth is wasted on the young they say. Thanks for doing this one. He has many more.
"Don't think twice, it's alright", "Blowing in the wind", "Buckets of Rain", "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall", "It Aint Me, Babe", and my personal favourite Dylan song of all time, that nobody else seems to know about, "When the Ship Comes In" (a song about revolution in hearts and minds).
Fav dylan songs. Like a rolling stone, chimes of freedom. Stuck inside of mobile with the memphis blues again. Tangled up in blue. Hard rains gonna fall.
Again, this time I was 14, and i listened to this song over and over, and now, age 69, I still listen to it, Its so good. And the Rolling Stones made a great video of this, portraying the story of this song. Please try Positively 4th Street.
He definitely passed English class lol. Hilarious description. He actually went on to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. A million thanks for the video. Would love to see you react to Leonard Cohen (everybody knows, democracy) or Kris Kristofferson (austin sessions: Sunday morning coming down).
The lyrics seem to be directed at a person, but I’ve always felt it’s a general coming of age song. It’s about someone young, privileged, naive, and confident coming into the real world and getting a dose of reality
May have been about Edie Sedgewick's fall into addiction. She was involved briefly with Dylan and then one of his mates, sfter falling out with Andy Warhol.
Man I love the young bucks trying to understand Bob Dylan lyrics. I'm a life long Dylan fan pushing 50 years old, and still trying to understand it myself. God bless you brother. Hope you have better luck than I have so far. Keep up the great work.
“...when you ain’t got nothin, you got, nothin to lose.” Some people have never been there, but boy do you ever get a reality check, once you’ve been down and out. Some do climb out of the hole, but some just get stuck, and can’t find their way home.
His harmonica is like a trademark with him. He plays it more country-style, not bluesy. Has many Grammys, been on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine like 17 times, among the first to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has written and published hundreds of songs, sang on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial when Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I have a dream" speech, changed rock music forever, influenced so many other musicians, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Nobel Prize for Literature 4 years ago. He is a one of a kind genius. And it's not just his lyrics. Albums have been made by other artists of his songs and they are strictly instrumental. Loved your reaction.
My first time ever hearing this back in the 1960s, I had to have this in my fairly new record collection - a vinyl 45 rpm record (anyone remember those?) with the red Columbia record label and the song was on BOTH sides of the record! I played this record soooo much that I turned it white! (Anyone remember turning records white by playing them over and over?!) ! This was my introduction to Bob Dylan and I still listen to him, and still see him in concert in the New York City area, and no matter what people say about his voice, I love his voice, his artistry, writing, words, and listen to Patti Smith accepting Dylan's Nobel Prize for Literature in his honour and performing his music. And all the recommendations other people have written here - I love them all. And Twon, it is so refreshing to hear a young man like you listening and reacting and appreciating different kinds of music! Don't let people freak you out; stay Twon, Twon!
Dylan is simply the best lyricist/poet of them all. He has written dozens of songs which will be the best you ever heard, again and again and again. You like lyrics so listen to It's Alright Ma, I'm only bleeding. Bloody incredible lyrics and yeah, he's rapping in 1964/65.
my favorite line is "Never understood that it ain't no good, you shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you". If you let other people tell you how to have fun, you let other people tell you how to live. Think about that in the context of entertainment today - are we all just out here imitating films and shows that tell us what it means to live? If so, is that the cost of losing the ability to entertain yourself?
Good song choice, course u can’t go wrong with any of Dylan”s songs ! As a young Marine in Vietnam he helped me get through that difficult time! Bob’s the best !
When she got "juiced," she got drunk. Thank you for reacting to Dylan's greatest masterpiece. Timely from the time I first heard it in 1967, it has only gained in relevance and poignancy, without losing it's street-wise toughness.
Bob Dylan - It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) Changed my life and made me a lifetime BD fan. Also, watching you react to these takes me back to the first time I heard Dylan. Goosebumps on the skin, tears in the eyes, thank you!!!
I played this over and over on my record player, I think I was 14 or 15. I've still got the record, and quite a few more Bob Dylan records, and even after all this time I never tire of them.. Try reacting to some of his other stuff, maybe Forever Young and Make You Feel my Love.
Thank you. I was "ridiculed" the other day for saying Bob was one of the first Rappers. And yes I was referring to Subterranean Homesick Blues. You just had my back Thank You. Greatly appreciated. 🤔😎
To many, Bob Dylan is one of the most significant singer/songwriters of the 20th century. Check out his "Lay Lady Lay," "Rainy Day Women #12 and 35," and "Knockin' On Heaven's Door." He also wrote "Blowin' In the Wind," another timeless classic.
One of the all-time great lyricists - if not the greatest... and this is one of the greatest diss songs ever! Dylan's songs redefine the term "deep". "Visions of Johanna", "Subterranean homesick blues" (possibly the first ever rap!), "Desolation row"... Dylan has literally hundreds of great songs. Good move to have the lyrics available - there's plenty of meat in the words, and they take a lot of thinking about.
Warms the heart of this grumpy old man seeing appreciating that which we've loved & listened to for a lifetime, thanks for sharing & appreciating... now my sons going make me do the same with the latest Kendrick Lamar... payback time!!!
I am 20, and I listened to this for the first time a few months ago. I cried my eyes out.
The greatest rock song ever written by the greatest singer songwriter of all times.
Well... He did win a Nobel prize 🏆 for literature/poetry :)
Obama did win the Noble Prize for not being George W Bush
Ya..there's that!
He IS impressive. He won a NOBEL PRIZE FOR LITERATURE due to his lyrical genius.
He's probably got 25 of the best songs ever written
Agreed. Every time I try and list a top 10 at least 5 are Dylan songs
At least
My favorite thing about these reaction videos is that you can take a song like this that I've heard so many times that I never bother putting it on myself anymore, but watching somebody react to it for the first time brings me back to how I felt many years ago when I heard it for the first time.
LIKE A ROLLING STONE...Drop the Mic! This is so MAUDLIN babe. Dylan=Genius
I always assumed "juiced in it" meant she was drunk all the time.
Exactly
Or juiced up " drugs "?
I always thought it meant screwed.
I thought juiced in it was being taught things that didn't help her in the real world. Like bull s.
I thought maybe, juiced in it, she was really in her rich high live
Yes, go down this Dylan rabbit hole. You'll never regret it. The greatest songwriter ever maybe.
No maybe!
I admire your courage. Taking a monumental song apart, being open to the genius of his words, the indescribable music. You lifted the rock to see what made it roll. There isn't much around today to compare it with. He was one of a kind. Thanks for opening your soul for his interpretation.
The greatest of all time……………. Long live Bob Dylan !!!!!!!
Its about a socialite, rich, concieted and proud. But she has a fall from high society--finds out how it feels to be on the *other* side, she's not so "high and mighty" any more. Loved that song way back then, still love it.
Nailed it!
And ending up on the game is my take on it.
Original Diss Track
One story is the song is a warning by Dylan to Edie Sedgwick, whom Dylan was supposedly in love with at the time, when she was hanging out with Andy Warhol.
It's about everyone of us, at least now and then.
Bob is considered to be one of the finest poets in all of popular music, really an icon for so many of the 60's generation.
Someone said that nearly every Dylan song is like a sermon. AMEN!
Bob Dylan started out playing an acoustic guitar and harmonica. The first time he performed with these musicians, he was booed. He knew it was the right move for him.
"The vacuum of his eyes" I've always thought means that he has an empty soul. Eyes being the window to the soul and all...
Think he was talking about Andy Warhol
He’s a true wordsmith his songs weather the test of time He’s timeless
Bob Dylan won a Nobel Prize for his work. He's THAT big a deal. He is admired by millions of people, including President Jimmy Carter. He became a huge star (a reclusive and defiant star), and everybody listened carefully to his lyrics, just as you are doing. Great reaction. Peace.
Rainy day women #12 and 35 is another great song by Bob Dylan.
Glad you're appreciating one of our greatest songwriters and performers ever! BOB!!!
A great wordsmith .I have followed his music since very young.
He won a Nobel Prize for writing!!!
I have mixed feelings about it.
Also worth trying the studio versions of Dylan’s “It’s Alright Ma” and “Hurricane.” Really mind blowing
You gotta do “It’s Alright Ma” if you want a perfect example of how he was “rapping before rap”
Bob Dylan is my favorite for many reasons. The thing is, his live performances are usually not as good as the studio versions.
also Subterranean Homesick Blues and My Back Pages
Studio versions *only*!
They considered his songwriting such good poetry they broke the rules to give him the two highest honors in literature
Check out Motorpsycho Nitemare for some more lyrical genius
Rolling Stone magazine placed like Rolling Stone has the best song ever written
Jimi Hendrix really loved his music so much he covered this at Monterey, where Jimi saw Dylan's grandma sittin in audience. Also covered Dylan's All Along The Watchtower.
He was the voice of my generation. If you want to be a song writer study Bob Dylan.
You genuinely appreciate Bob Dylan for his lyrics, fantastic. This guy is an excellent rabbit hole if you're into bars. Keep listening to Dylan.
Hurricane
I spent around 3 years in that hole. I could only get out when I discovered Beethoven's last string quartets, aka THE LAST FRONTIER.
Dude you ain't heard shizzit yet!!. One man..no drums, no bass...like he could be sittin' on yourcouch
Wore my Bob Dylan shirt yesterday always get a thumbs up 👍 from folks . Dylan is the legend so freaking smart 🙏🙏🖤🖤🖤
Great reaction! Another great Dylan song you'll enjoy "Stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues again"
Bob played the Hermonica also. I was 16 when this song came out & I still love it, love all his music!👍👏👏👏💛💛
"His words are really good"...thats your assessment of Bob Dylan. Thanks for your penetrating insight!
The genius of Bob Dylan, fell out of the sky and drops the lyrics and songs of all time
There are lists of the best songs ever written and Like A Rolling Stone is always at the top of these lists.
No one knows how he did it. Genius just arrives fully formed out of nowhere.
He made a deal with the you know the big guy
In my opinion he was the first one to see that modernist and simbolist poetry (eliot, pound, etc.) could be put in musical framing with very good results.
That is TOTAL bullshit. Genius is a by-product of so many things. Mostly just living and interests.
The people saying 'It's Alright Ma' are 100% correct too.
“ Subterranean homesick blues” 1st hip hop song and also 1st music clip of all time.
Voted best song ever by many magazines
I think you would like Dylan's "Tangled up in Blue" and "Positively 4th Street" .
Positively 4th street ( wow) FKN AMAZING)
"Tangled up in Blue" is everything.
I had a chuckle when you said he is a very good writer. Listen to more Dylan and you will realize what a understatement that is. Some people like his words but not his voice. I like both. First song of his I remember hearing is "It ain't me babe".
Please don't exaggerate. It is fair to say he is a good writer. Nothing more.
I think the Nobel Prize committee would disagree with you there!
I was impressed also at his appreciation of the lyrics.
My favorite by him. I remember being a teenager and we all listened so intently to 'the Prophet' Bob Dylan. We listened but didn't always follow through his words through life. Youth is wasted on the young they say. Thanks for doing this one. He has many more.
Someone below suggested Joan Baez's "Diamonds and Rust". I second, third, and fourth that suggestion.
Love your Dylan reactions
Tangled up in Blue!!
Fav dylan songs. Like a rolling stone, chimes of freedom. Stuck inside of mobile with the memphis blues again. Tangled up in blue. Hard rains gonna fall.

That completely satisfied nod of approval at the end said it all, brother..
Get juiced meant getting drunk. Love your reactions. Really love the way you're getting Dylan.
A book of his lyrics is a tome of pure poetry.
The lyrics seem to be directed at a person, but I’ve always felt it’s a general coming of age song. It’s about someone young, privileged, naive, and confident coming into the real world and getting a dose of reality
I agree 100% well said
May have been about Edie Sedgewick's fall into addiction.
THE LEGENDARY MR. BOB DYLAN, "LIKE ROLLING STONE"... THE AMERICAN POET, AND SONG WRITER.
WAS ONE OF A KIND...
Best freaking song I ever heard.
“...when you ain’t got nothin, you got, nothin to lose.” Some people have never been there, but boy do you ever get a reality check, once you’ve been down and out. Some do climb out of the hole, but some just get stuck, and can’t find their way home.
Dylan's got bars man haha - best flow of any folk singer
Loved the two Dylan reactions and how you actually tried to analyze them. It's been a while but I hope you cover more of his work
His harmonica is like a trademark with him. Bob's a way of life.
“Where it’s at is a common expression of the Beats and Hippies
He was a poet and a great observationalist of people on the streets growing up.
He actually won a Nobel prize for literature ☺️ He’s literally one of the best songwriters ever!!
My first time ever hearing this back in the 1960s, I had to have this in my fairly new record collection - a vinyl 45 rpm record (anyone remember those?) with the red Columbia record label and the song was on BOTH sides of the record! Love your reaction. You are highly intelligent to play Bob Dylan.
Good song choice, course u can’t go wrong with any of Dylan”s songs ! As a young Marine in Vietnam he helped me get through that difficult time! Bob’s the best !
Highly suggest the following Dylan tunes: Tangled Up In Blue, Visions of Johanna & Shelter From the Storm
When she got "juiced," she got drunk. Thank you for reacting to Dylan's greatest masterpiece. Timely from the time I first heard it in 1967, it has only gained in relevance and poignancy, without losing it's street-wise toughness.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Bob Dylan - It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)
Changed my life and made me a lifetime BD fan. Also, watching you react to these takes me back to the first time I heard Dylan. Goosebumps on the skin, tears in the eyes, thank you!!!
I think of Bob Dylan as one of the first rappers. Like your reactions to bob Dylan. Greetings from an elderly man in Norway. 😀
I played this over and over on my record player, I think I was 14 or 15. I've still got the record, and quite a few more Bob Dylan records, and even after all this time I never tire of them.. Try reacting to some of his other stuff, maybe Forever Young and Make You Feel my Love.
Wars of war by him will blow your mind!
Bob Dylans... With God on our side! Will blow your mind!!
Keep listening!😁
Really enjoyed watching you interpret this song. Another great lyrical journey is Tangled Up in Blue.
Made me hear like it was my first time too (and that was in '65). Thanks No Limit, impressed!
Dude I like your reaction you may as well realize Dylan is the best songwriter ever hands down
My English literature book in college was loaded with Dylan songs. True poet. 👏👏
He is considered the greatest American songwriter. Check out Hurricane. It became a movie.
If you want to hear him rap listen to Subterranean Homesick Blues.
Absolutely
Thank you. I was "ridiculed" the other day for saying Bob was one of the first Rappers. And yes I was referring to Subterranean Homesick Blues. You just had my back Thank You. Greatly appreciated. 🤔😎
@@donjenkins3861 probably one of the first music videos too (where you don't just stand there and sing )
Woody Guthrie did it , it was called talking blues.
Yep, 1st ever hip hop song, and happen to also be the 1st music clip video of all time.
Bruh listen to “It’s alright ma (I’m only bleeding” if you wanna hear amazing words check that out!
Many consider this to be one of the greatest songs Ever written
One of the all-time great lyricists - if not the greatest... and this is one of the greatest diss songs ever! Dylan's songs redefine the term "deep". "Visions of Johanna", "Subterranean homesick blues" (possibly the first ever rap!), "Desolation row"... Dylan has literally hundreds of great songs. or subterranean homesick blues (almost a rap)or tangled up in blue.
Great songs! Also, Positively 4th Street and It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry.
Twon...you got it!!! He is genius. "Fire" is right.
Never really got into him but he is a fixture of his genre and influenced many others in the music industry.
Same for me. Appreciate his talent. My favorite song is "Things Have Changed". Expresses so much attitude and the video is so good.
Bro you would love..'Lily,Rosemary,and the Jack of Hearts'...omg..the Master can paint some pictures with words!!!
Need a Bob Dylan week! 🤗
Bob Dylan the godfather of all rappers/Songwriter
Robert Allen Zimmerman, and juiced meant tipsy-drunk, he's from Duluth.
Hibbing...in the Iron Range, not so far from Duluth
born and lived 6 years in duluth
He was a true poet!
Warms the heart of this grumpy old man seeing appreciating that which we've loved & listened to for a lifetime, thanks for sharing & appreciating... now my sons going make me do the same with the latest Kendrick Lamar... payback time!!!
