I always thought it was weird how he switched to a more baroque-style sound for the third one after over thirty years of his more romantic style being such a huge staple of Hollywood cinema. I wonder if that was done on input from Cuarón or if he came up with that angle independently, but it really gives that one a unique sense of identity compared to all the others.

The movies have tons of flaws, the acting quality has aged, and it can be confusing if you don’t follow it closely. But I think the main appeal is more so the universe it creates, and the imagination rather than how good the movies themselves are.
That's one of my biggest isues for me with the Harry Potter movies because i'm more interested in the story, characters and the technical side of the filmmaking (direction, acting, cinematography, lighting, innovation, effects, etc.) when i'm watching a movie and not really in the whole "wish fulfillment, power fantasy, i wish i lived in that world" escapism of it all. Escapism is good but if that's the only thing something offers, i lose interest. BTW, to all the Potterheads, i know that Harry Potter has a story and characters. I just found both the story and the characters too derivative of other works of fiction and the story just too littered with plot holes.
Tonyyyyy!!! I tell people this everyday as I am a history and fantasy nerd who grew up with things like Warcraft 1 & 2 (when the game manuals had orcs holding decapitated human heads), Doom, and Warhammer. I am Tony's age and yes, by the time 98/97, rolled around, Harry Potter was Baby's First Fantasy, pretty dull and childish compared to the others. A few things that sort of messes with the logic of the Harry Potter universe. The wizards are FAR more powerful as young children and without wands. Without a wand, Harry apparated onto a roof he's never been on before and thus displays teleportation skills; he 'vanished' a window with zero damage to anything else around; at one point he performed human transfiguration and blew up/levitated away a foul aunt, etc. WITH a wand and education, he took 7 years to be able to duplicate even a few of his childhood feats. If this was in anime, he would be Gohan. Started out SS2, ended up Derpy Book Nerd... except Harry is never smart enough or good enough to earn Book Nerd status. The whole "learning to say magic words" and "wave the wand in VERY specific ways" is useless from the very start, and that's why they eventually just give it up and start waving wands and doing laser fights. The 'curses' are stupid as well. The magic in this movie makes no sense, and the books don't make it better.
The use of magic words is far more prevalent in the books, where they say the spell almost every time they use their wands. They did away with that in the movies, probably to simplify things and make it more cinematic. Harry did not have control over his powers as a kid. Making thing happen accidentally (like making glass vanish, or causing people to inflate like a balloon) isn't much good if you cannot control it. Throughout the books Harry is still a student, and doesn't learn to fully control his powers until he is an adult (after the books storyline has concluded).
the thing about the dumbledore being gay is that it didnt need to be brought up as it wasnt necessary to the story they were telling and it wouldve been weird for a teacher to discuss that w their students. It is however necessary for the prequels where its a imporpart of the story

The entire class but me got to go and she even took pictures of the trip and placed them by the door which i would look at. Hated everything harry potter since
I'm sorry your teacher rubbed it in your face with the pictures. I'm sure it was not delirate; she was just clueless. Based on your comment, it looks like you overcame your dyslexia. And you are more sensitive to learning difficulties. That might make you a good teacher/parent.
John Williams scored the first three movies. The second one was more so handled by William Ross due to Williams being busy with Catch Me If You Can but either way, FANTASTIC score all-around
yeah it's mostly just reused songs in cos.
I was 16 when this debuted. I always made fun of one of the other kids for liking it but then after watching this a year after it released I started to like the fanfare.
Had no idea Johanna was packin so much sweater meat heat
Lmfao at Justin shooting a m&m mini tube through a screen 😆🤣😆! I used to work at a movie theater in high school as well but in the year 2005-2008. Those God damn kid packs as well really bugged me. I got to see Harry Potter on IMAX on a school field trip so can't complain much.
I remember when Haggar was the mayor of Metro City
I Did Go See 2001's Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone With My Mom Kelli Krajci And My Brother Jesse Krajci At Regal Showplace 16 In Crystal Lake, IL Back In 2001, It Did Scare My Brother Jesse Krajci Because Of Fluffy, The Three Headed Dog But Not Me And My Mom Kelli Krajci.
I love how Justin goes into test mode once Ryan shows up
Can we get an episode where Mike and Mint Salad are the guests?
Great job Jessica!
18:41 they touched their noses at the same time
lmfaoooo good eye champ
The movies have tons of flaws, the acting quality has aged, and it can be confusing if you don’t follow it closely. But I think the main appeal is more so the universe it creates, and the imagination rather than how good the movies themselves are.
I totally agree with you
That's one of my biggest isues for me with the Harry Potter movies because i'm more interested in the story, characters and the technical side of the filmmaking (direction, acting, cinematography, lighting, innovation, effects, etc.) when i'm watching a movie and not really in the whole "wish fulfillment, power fantasy, i wish i lived in that world" escapism of it all.
Hey, that's my opinion, glad I am not alone in it 🤷♂️
The Only Version Of 2010's Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & 2011's Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 That I Prefer Is 2011's Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows (276 Mins).
Can't believe Johanna would Minority Report Tony from Hack the Movies' future kids....
4:28 Justins look at the camera 😂😂😭
The Only Version Of 2001's Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone That I Prefer Is The Original Theatrical Version (152 Mins).
Hold on. Newt is „He who should not be named“ now?
It seems that you guys are the worst friends anybody could imagine.
EDIT: Yeah well, thanks to a couple of responses I get that Voldenewt-thing now. My bad!

@@GamePlayMetal context? I don‘t know what you‘re talking about^^
@@LordOfClarkness newt was fired from Cinemassacre for plagiarism lol
@@LordOfClarkness Newt's online presence conveniently vanished after it was found that the reviews he was supposed to have written for CM's Monster Madness were plagiarized, and I just made a Redlettermedia reference, from when they reviewed Re-Animator (RLM also made a subtle jab at the plagiarism scandal)
@@GamePlayMetal 😆 WHAT? Oh boy. I did not know that.. now I get why he’s been so thoroughly removed. Thanks man!
They played quidditch at my high school and I knew a guy who was playing the wooden broom handle broke and stabbed him in the face leaving a large permanent scar on his chin
Oh no clickbait!
Points at the title of the review: "That's bait"
"That movie where Hagrid and Frodo go on a river rafting adventure after escaping his father Hellboy, only to end up trying to rob Ellen's ex and Xena's widow." "You mean Huck Finn?"
I'm with Tony - I was the right age for this but was already too jaded to like it. I have since read all the books and seen all the films. They get better as they go along.
The Only Version Of 2002's Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets That I Prefer Is The Original Theatrical Version (161 Mins).
The Only Version Of 2005's Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire That I Prefer Is The Original Theatrical Version (157 Mins).
Actually Puerto Rico is part of the United States and San Juan which is PRs capital, is turning 500 years old in 2022.
Lmfao at Johanna when she said I dodged a bullet about Tony 🤣 great video I love this show
This is my fav crew. Justin, Jessica and Tony! The Best!
I did not watch the Harry Potter series until I was 32. I was one of those kids when it came out I couldn't read the books or watch the movies because of something anti-christian. 🤪
I agree! Books are evil!
Only in ‘murica
i read that every scene where they have the philospher's stone, they shot an alternate take calling it 'sorcerer's stone' instead for the US audience.. thing is, what is the original take was better acted?
i can really relate to tony's objections... a giant walking around and nobody reacts. when i was two i saw a curly man with red hair and i freaked tf out.
1:17:03 is when I was just laughing....but then when Justin says "uh actually, yes" and Johannas face after that I just start cryyyyying 🤣 😂
USA in a nutshell, lmao. Not even catholic countries are that manic when it comes to religion.
People that don’t like things because they don’t understand them always confuses me.
Fantastic episode! That Manscaped commercial is ridiculously funny!
mud blood sounds like something my father would call an athlete who doesnt breed with other athletes
6:08 She also randomly said Hogwarts students pissed and shit where they stood then got rid of it with magic.
the thing about the dumbledore being gay is that it didnt need to be brought up as it wasnt necessary to the story they were telling and it wouldve been weird for a teacher to discuss that w their students. It is however necessary for the prequels where its a imporpart of the story
Love the Rochelle Rochelle dvd in the background.
Need to review Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollowpoints
Is there a full version of the intro song?? Its so dope.
Hey Johanna, just remember you gotta find a rocketship to get to Pigfarts lol
Reminder engaged!!
