  • June 2021. In my focus on Small, Simple Caravans, we take a look at the Barefoot Caravan Trailer, one of the best compact caravans on the market today.
Barefoot is made and sold in the UK by www.go-barefoot.co.uk/
In North America it is made under licence by nuCamp - nucamprv.com/barefoot/
The video is broken up into the following sections:
    00:00 - Introduction
00:40 - Exterior of the Barefoot
05:30 - Wide angle interior sweep
06:32 - Continued look at the exterior
07:52 - Detailed interior tour of the Barefoot Caravan
    12:26 - Bed Sizes
17:34 - Washroom / Bathroom in the Barefoot
19:28 - Conclusion - is the Barefoot the best small caravan, or are there compromises?
    21:31 - Outro - He Never Smiles! :)
In order to give you a better viewing experience, I reject 99% of the sponsorship offers received because they would be of no interest to my audience. I also switch off the ads during the video, and I hope you enjoy the lack of intrusion.
    This video is therefore self-financed.
If you appreciate the lack of interruption and lack of spiel about Squarespace or Skillshare, and you'd like to support the channel and make up for the lost ad revenue, feel free to buy me a coffee! www.buymeacoffee.com/andrewdi...

I love it. I am a little Smurfette at 5 foot 2 and it looks perfect for me. I can't imagine I would ever have that money available though and I would be a bit worried about security with them being limited edition and so collectable. They would definitely stand out and catch people's eye, even thieves!

Hello, thanks for the video, you just reminded me why we went for an 8m twin axle, fixed bed, large center bathroom caravan! However, I was talking to the manufacturers (Watsonian) a couple of years ago before the Barefoot was launched, and they told me that this was not aimed at the traditional caravan market. It is aimed at people new to the idea of caravanning who want to go away for the weekend to a festival or suchlike. I think that it fits that market, which is very style conscious. Us traditional caravanners would find it very pretty but not at all practical, but as I said it's not us they are aiming at.
Well done to Watsonian for backing a new idea.
    KH

I am 5'7", not really diminutive, but not really tall either. But I never sleep completely stretched out (who does?). So, I think I would have no problem with the sleeping arrangement, even the single. I love this caravan. Been watching it for several years and now it's available in the U.S. It's so bright and cheery, I don't think I would get claustrophobic at all. But, it's just me and my little Shih Tsu dog. Two adults might be really bumping into each other.

What a pretty unit, it seems a shame that when it was first designed the internal inches were compromised. I am 6ft so would never be able to sleep (or shower?) without discomfort........ Another great video and great to have you back. I parked my Go Pod next to a Bare Foot in Scotland it made the Go Pod look big, but Freedom & Go Pod are half the price, that’s around £15k extra for a small bathroom, but still a lovely well made caravan.

What a great review that was. Honest and factual. Great idea measuring stuff. If you're 6;7" you're going to struggle, but of course someone that tall isn't going to buy one, but it doesn't make it a bad caravan.
They are beautiful, without a doubt, they are pricey, however it's built to order and bespoke and I think you get what you pay for!
You can't get away from the size of it, of course. I'm sure there are many that consider a twin axle too large. Each to their own and we all have different requirements and budgets.
    Thanks for sharing...

    • @andrewjditton
      @andrewjditton  3 года назад +1

Cheers Graham! Exactly, it is NOT a bad caravan by any stretch - it's all about giving folks the facts to be able to make up their own minds what they can and cannot live with. It's not often I wish I were smaller - but it would certainly be a bonus if I were to buy this one! Thanks for watching mate.

Honestly... It seems very much more about style than substance. They really haven't thought about the user. For instance; the bed is for shorter people, but those shorter people would struggle using the loo. Also, how hard is it to put a tap in the washroom? And a door catch! Looks great, but honestly I couldn't live with it.

I love the style and the fibreglass construction. The seating area reminded me a bit of your Airstream. When you gave the dimensions and weight I was surprised. I thought it was smaller, and would be lighter. In fact it is similar weight to my 6 berth Lunar, which looks enormous in comparison. However, I think it is a very attractive package, and can fully understand people that want something a bit different and rather special would be willing to choose the Barefoot.

Curious is there a hidden or sliding screen in the doorway? I also would worry about that door without a stop or protector from hitting the outside. I also did wonder what the ground clearance is because there is no additional step and it's very easy to just step up into it. Little bits of things that may or may not catch other peoples fancy too. I do love the size and weight and would also like to see some outside storage like under it and or roof rack for solar panels and wired for such with possible bike rack or a tail hitch where one could be inserted. Overall lots to like. Thumbs UP!

  • @davidmbell
    @davidmbell 3 года назад +1

Some small details that need thinking through, like socket placement etc. The mains one in the kitchen needs to be lower down, and around the side of that cupboard, rather than on the front, so the cables won't need to trail over the sink. The other mains socket, along with 12v and aerial point again need moving from the side of that locker (your head or feet might end up there in bed mode) and moving to the vertical wall unit above the dresser. Surprised these sort of things not been picked up by the designers? Yes, it's expensive, but it's bespoke, and that affords that premium. It's not for me but I see the appeal.

Cracking SMALL CAMPERVAN - NOT CARAVAN vid guys. Despite the obvious internal space constraints, which doesn't mean 'problem', we're going for a stealth, pro-conversion with pop-top, with our NV200 (tailgate rear door) and we can't wait.
I'll still be able to drive the van to work, park it up in a regular space - or even multi-storey parking - with no probs.
And at weekends, (or any day for that matter), or just for a few hours..... 'aaah, lovely.... and so appealing. A drive-away awning will be used for longer stays.
And all this without the obvious limitations of a caravan ownership. We've owned several caravans, and loved them, but there is so much more scope to be realised with an NV200 campervan, in my humble opinion.
The pro-conversion prices are around £13,000 (inc. VAT) which is fair - and will make the van a much greater asset to us.
Prices for converted vans, have sky-rocketed due to understandable appeal, desirability and demand, but also to greed, sadly.
Continued happy travels both of you ok :-)

Why didn’t they have a useable large drop down wash hand basin. They could have but a small shelf for a kettle above the hob attaching it to the dividing wall between the WC and kitchen area.. I probably would have preferred to see a solid front instead of that huge window .replacing it with sky light strip instead..

Surprised to see such a good looking wet room. But the sizes overall are rubbish, for the sake of six inches longer and wider the bed could be useable but at 29 grand and one high up socket in the kitchen it's way overpriced even for being bespoke.

I would have one tomarrow to match my classic car but....I would have to take out a second mortgage to buy it and that is not a figure of speech!. 12 years ago I could of afforded one. Still I am still very lucky to own an Eriba Puck*.

Why do caravan and motorhome manufacturers put high toilets in vans clearly meant for short people? I'm 162cms or roughly 5 foot 4 inches, so I would fit in the bed no problem, but my feet would dangle 8 inches or 19cms on the loo! I have to take a fold up stool on journeys in my Autosleeper

You didn’t try the bed in the most obvious position to sleep in ie the head at the head of the caravan down the middle … thanks tho … love your detail

It seems that the smaller and less caravan you get the more they cost.
