How safe are these buildings then in case an earthquake hits? I mean $60k or $70k is not peanuts, it is a lot of money and one does expect safety in the roof over one's head. How can one guarantee that these buildings are safe in case of earthquakes?
Hi Shaima, unfortunately you can only guarantee that if you have asked the developer if the building is earthquake compliant or not. In other words, the developer should have informed you about the compliance. This doesn't mean that developers have a choice to build non-compliant buildings. All buildings are built in compliance with the regulations. However the most recent regulation and in our opinion , the strongest regulations are the ones that passed in the year 2000. So if the building you have purchased your unit in is built after 2000, you're technically on the safe side.

You guys constantly trash Esenyurt and Beylikduzu. Are you suggesting that the building code is not followed in these particular areas or are all the bad builders in Esenyurt and Beylikduzu? Also when you put properties in these locations, do you make buyers aware that the quality of the buildings is poor? It is kind of interesting that almost in every episode you raise some serious questions about the desirability of these locations and yet you list properties in these locations with some flowery language. So what gives? Also you push the value of buying in central Istanbul, but these days people in general do not want to live in congested areas. So you need to get on the program if you are holding yourselves out as objective advisors although I see a conflict of interest here because you are also brokers of property.

I bought an apartment in Esenyurt via property turkey and since I couldn’t travel yet… will property turkey inform me about these things regarding my property even though I bought it in February. Property Turkey told about a government app which gives information about the building. Kindly help the remote buyers to install and check their properties remotely.
Appraiser or not, one thing that concerns me about buying one property at 250k-300k is an inflated price.

How safe are these buildings then in case an earthquake hits? I mean $60k or $70k is not peanuts, it is a lot of money and one does expect safety in the roof over one's head. How can one guarantee that these buildings are safe in case of earthquakes?
Hi Shaima, unfortunately you can only guarantee that if you have asked the developer if the building is earthquake compliant or not. In other words, the developer should have informed you about the compliance. This doesn't mean that developers have a choice to build non-compliant buildings. All buildings are built in compliance with the regulations. However the most recent regulation and in our opinion , the strongest regulations are the ones that passed in the year 2000. So if the building you have purchased your unit in is built after 2000, you're technically on the safe side.

You guys constantly trash Esenyurt and Beylikduzu. Are you suggesting that the building code is not followed in these particular areas or are all the bad builders in Esenyurt and Beylikduzu? Also when you put properties in these locations, do you make buyers aware that the quality of the buildings is poor?
