You are probably going to get some power steering line leaks at some point due to aging rubber hoses, especially when cold weather hits. I'm going through that now, just replaced the power steering reservoir and soft lines on the passenger side of the return system. Driver side is now leaking and is next. You can replace the return line with 3/8 hose but the OEM spring clamps will not work, I've used worm-gear hose clamps. The suction line from reservoir to pump is best to go with OEM hose and clamps. Not much room in there to work either, thought it would take an hour...it took 3.
@@KennyHaan I picked mine up, same color, tan interior, similar condition but higher miles at 240K for $7100. Southern vehicle, brought it to Kansas. It was a non nav non ML sound though and dash cracks were warrantied so there is some additional value there. Seats are in OK condition, not great but not the worst I've seen, cracking but no tears.
I love the GX platform and the V8 smoothness. I owned a 2002 LC Prado for a while living in the Dominican Republic back in the days. I sold my 2016 Toyota 4RUNNER and purchased a 2018 GX460. I live in NC. My wife and toddler enjoy driving the SUV in the mountains and the beach. Enjoy that GX. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Honestly just do mild lift less than 2 inches and some nice ATT and call it a day people go way overboard on these trucks that they don’t end up using it in the first place. Enjoy it and go visit some interesting places.
@ I would try the truck out oem stock personally and see how it goes first the first one is some good quality all terrain tires. Then next look into just Bilstein/OME/Ironman, keep the lift below 2 inches you’ll do solid on mild trails and go from there just don’t get caught up on the GAS (gear acquired syndrome that many in the 4wd world suffer). Follow GX460 Off Road as well I subscribe to his beliefs about gear and off roading.
Air suspension and electronically adjustable shock dampening. I picked up some FJ wheels, had them powder coated bronze for $110 a wheel. Got the set of 5 for $300.
Also, this is not AIR suspension, those are hydraulically adjusted Shocks that allow to raise and lower the vehicle on stock suspension springs. I suggest you keep it stock. It rides better that way.
@@KennyHaan if you are not planning of taking this to Mountains of Colorado, desert of California and or Moab UT, just update the stock suspension from Lexus and enjoy 😊
7400...? Cheap? That's about the going rate or higher than normal. Seen a good amount of these for 3-4500. Deals don't last. But seen it many times. Clickbait, unfortunately
@@Jarph0821 it depends on your area and what you think is “cheep” but 7400 for my area is pretty cheap. Especially with the low/manageable amount of rust and air suspension still working. I would consider that fairly cheep.
What do you guys think? Is this the Best overland platform? 😅

Lol my Power Steering Resevoir needs to be replaced...slight leak but I guess it's not too bad
@ I went with a Cardon reservoir. So far so good. There are things that I feel are best to be replaced with OEM, PS reservoir isn’t one of them lol.
@@rafterwhomestead hmm thanks for the heads up. Will go with OEM!
That’s a crazy good deal. Like 50% market value
Right? I will admit though…it wasn’t in the best condition when I found it. But it’s getting there!

Another Dominican here with a GX lol picked up a 2022 thinking it would be the last year. Black line edition in NY 23-24 mpg can beat it man.

Congrats @KennyHann on the new whip. Great choice and looking forward to the build. Low key always liked these.
Yessir, maybe we do a collab soon? 👀

Got any suggestions in mind for the lift? I do want to go on some mild trails..wondering if 2inch lift is adequate for that haha

Bruh idk if you're living my life or something, I also live in Illinois and all im missing is a supra lol Welcome to the GXOR fam!
Finally apart of the GXOR Fam 😭

Yo bro it's buscarlo. Love that we going to be building the same platform together! Also I subscribed haha
lol hi Carlo! Maybe Supra in the future 👀😉?
one day brotha lol😆
Do a budget prerunner build. Kings + long travel. Pure 4x4 for some inspiration
Oooohhh RACE TRUCK? Dakar edition? Lolol

I am considering to switch it out...due to the nature of it being 19yrs old.

@@KennyHaan not in Illinois unfortunately
There is a spot for Offroad fun in Attica IN and for trails you have to go west… like Colorado west.
The rear has airbags with an air compressor. I picked up an 06 about 4 months ago.
One of the most reliable Engines in the history of Engines, as long as you take care of it, it will last for 300k.
💯 agreed
thats a deal ! perfect compliment to the supra
Yes right?! Literally can go anywhere now haha
Air system is probably shot! Go static and swap to springs. BEST 4X4 PLATFORM FOR SURE!! Congrats!
Actually, it still works! However…I’m sure it’s nearing its days haha. Got any recs? I hear people say EMU a lot.
@@KennyHaan hmm I have bilstein 6100 in the front and 5160 in the rear on dobinson springs. keep posting vids!
Hey bro did you check the frame that is one of the killers if it lived up north.
Yeah the frame is decent, some rust. But i coated it before winter came :)
Mines at 270k unbelievable car
Dude it’s honestly so good
Advise skipping the first 5 minutes of annoyance with nothing to do with a GX 470

I bought a super clean 2004 with 71k miles for $21k. Spent about 3k so far on random OEM cosmetic parts/light rejuvenation.
@@KennyHaan for that price I'd buy a lx470 imho
