Today is a small rant, something I want to see in the future for FIFA games: Making gold cards great again. In the past, you could use some OP gold cards until TOTS or even until the end of the game, but now you're done with most of them after the first week. I want to see a return of sweaty golds being able to compete with the best cards in the game

FIFA 17 was also a year you could play with lower gold cards until the very end. Its so nostalgic cause afterwards it died off…

fifa 13-15 were FUT's golden age imo. It was just perfectly imperfect, balanced like it should be. You dont need any other promo than team of the week, team of the year and team of the season.

End of an era cards are cards are a quite good idea too. Besides the TOTW/TOTY/TOTS, MOTM, record breakers, team of group stage and team of the tournament for champions league and international competitions like world cup and euro, league sbc and maybe some promos for some holidays (like, you get one promo for christmas and some other major holidays), ones to watch, heroes and futties since is already in the end of the game anyway would be good
Ibarbo, Biabiany and Gervinho used to give me heart attacks back in Fifa 14 and 15. None of my full backs could handle them 😂

Back when In Forms meant something. I miss my Fifa 13 81 rated TIF Benitez and Fifa 15 80 rated SIF Chikhaoui. Obscure players, obscure leagues, had to link them up with silvers and you could WIN Div 1 WITHOUT swapping out the silvers. So much fun, it was mad. As an OG, I know fifa will never get back to those years. My most used team in FIFA 13 was a pro-league/brasilvers hybrid. For FIFA 15, it was a Russian League/Portuguese League hybrid with chikhaoui. Those times are long gone...

I just started playing fifa again after not playing since fifa 15 and I definitely noticed the promo overkill. Its non stop. Ive also packed way better cards than I ever used to in previous fifas.

Literally a new thing every week I absolutely hate it. I just don’t even pay attention anymore I get zero excitement when I see a new promo. I’m so happy to see people who share my point of view everywhere else it seems people hold the opposite view point

This is true that golds will never be at their best, but evolutions is a great addition that is similar. And I think next year it’ll be improved upon.
Definitely Evolutions will be better next year. They’ll find out what worked and what doesn’t to tweak it all.
Counter point to that is often when they have introduced something new the next game it would come out a bit worse. Like objectives slowly getting worse and so on.

Evolutions is absolutely a 10/10 idea. However, they similar issues with golds in that there isn't a more casual mode to use them in more consistently. You don't see evos too much in Champs or Rivals :/
I think the main problem is lack of grindable content. Back in the day (eg: Fifa 17) you could just spam Div Seasons until you got enough money to buy someone for your team. Nowadays that's not possible, so to compensate they just release a promo every week, and when they don't do something for a single day, you get "nontent", and no one plays. Fun and grindable gameplay should ALWAYS be the priority, and that's where they got it wrong.

100%. You could load up into divisions and just play for the hell of it and get rewarded whenever you finished. It was semi-sweaty, semi-casual but you could play at your own pace instead of having to get a certain amount of wins per week and then waiting until rewards come out
New players never gonna now how overpowered trio Ibarbo, Gervinho and Doumbia was. What was even better it was like 10k and everyone was able to affrord it.

An emphasis on TOTW
FUT Fantasy- You start with 75 or so rated versions of items, and for each goal contribution they have +1 ovr increase, +2 and +3's for other milestones. This way, these items aren't Insane until the end of the season, when TOTS is coming out anyway. These cards are risky, because if you pay a lot for a card in it's early stage, that player could get injured or fall out of form, and you've suddenly lost thousands on a card you thought would be a stud.
Holiday SBC's of course.
POTM's for respective leagues.
I want an emphasis on real life performance. Enough of these weird 99 certain stats cards for players who haven't done anything IRL. The emphasis in FIFA should be on PLAYING THE GAME. This is not a pack opening or trading simulator, it is a Football simulator. In FIFA 14 if you won Division one you got like 15,000 coins lmfao, and people loved that game because it was fun and enjoyable. People hate this FIFA because you have to spend at least $300USD to be competitive not including the game purchase (which you need to do at release, if not it's even more you gotta spend). In FIFA 14 you could get the game at Christmas and after maybe a few days of playing build a legit competitive 41212 BPL or Bundesliga or Serie A team that could compete with Ronaldo's, Messi's etc.
Those were the glory days. Bring them back.
I mostly agree with you but this "This is not a pack opening or trading simulator, it is a Football simulator" is sadly not true. All they want is moneymoneymoneymoney. And by giving this tiny hope almost every week "oh, maybe this time I will get that card in the pack" they are getting literally millions of dollars

People complain the game has nothing new, want new promos, then complain about the promos, proceed to want better players in promos, then complain the power curve is too high and gold cards are useless, in the end, it's impossible to make everyone happy. But I have to agree with the current game modes that make you use the most meta cards, with the exception of SB where you can have fun with anyone.
Back in fifa 14 - 17 I don’t think I ever saw anyone complain about lack of content in UT. It was always gameplay stuff or other game modes not getting content. No idea what you’re talking about
I still use a default Vardy as my ST this Fifa. I don't care. He sucks. Srill banged 200 goals in the last few games.

More promos more packs more points more money for ea, they are fucking the game and they create an addictive gamblers community this game should be regulated from authorities. The difference between meta/ non meta is HUGE, almost at the point you need certain players to even have a slightly bit of fun.

Sometimes id see a ridiculous team and think "how the fk am i gonna do this?" Then i realise if i had at least 2 of these players, it was over before it started 🤣 imo fut was incredible almost close to perfect up until maybe fifa 15. I could list countless things as to why its gotten infinitely worse. But as we all know micro transactions have ruined games and this unfortunately most likely will never change with the companies we grew up playing most aka EA/2K/Rockstar. It will take new companies to bring a game of said field apart from rockstar (lets be honest nothing will top GTA series in that field) to bring back the joy we once experienced, i cbf ranting anymore lol

There still are ludicrously good gold cards, but no incentive to use them, for example, I bought a Michael, 77 rated, he was unbelievably good, the sort of card everyone would use back then, but I got a Vinicius jr with less than a week of play because I got lucky, afterwards I was consistently getting incredible players because of how easy it is to get good packs, I mean c'mon, you get so much fodder you legitimately can build a few sbcs on the bus or something and get a lot of great cards like it's nothing, on FIFA 15 if you had a decent inform, you were a king lol
The closest thing i've had is 81 rated Kondogbia wich was on my team ever since the beggining of the game because he felt like using someone like Matthaus in-game, but i really hope they bring back players like gold legends Akifenwa and Ibarbo.
Fifa players just love to cry no matter what the developers do, I remember people crying what is the point of having great players for 400k when you can just buy a player for 10k and he’s way better. Now that they’ve fixed this issue people are now crying about it but in vise versa.

As a fifa vet that stopped following the series from 2019, huge thank you for this video. It is upsetting that there won't probably be any change whatsoever considering EA's greedy asses. Another thing that is also missing from fifa is the point of using silver cards. In older fifas you could legit dominate with silver players in your squad, which is crazy to think about now

You're asking EA to reduce their short-term earnings for the good of the franchise and long-term mega earnings. Not gonna happen, it's EA.
Will never happen again. Remember playing the earlier versions with Norwegian bronzes, Russian league silvers. Had a gold/silver Argentina team. The way they spit out content these days people complain when they don’t. It’s the only way they can keep people playing nowadays.
Remember back in fifa 17 18 when everyone was using Butland and how OP he was.
Honestly quite a few of these could be fixed with the old Chemistry system so you only need 1 or 2 linjs for full Chem instead of half the team being a specific league or nationality. And also far too many promos ss you daid completely killing the game off even before TOTY

Great video, honestly the store pack with the guaranteed promo cards was the final nail in the coffin for me. What am I even grinding for, fodder to complete SBCs that everyone else can do? Evolutions which are a fun concept but drain my coins massively over time if I want to do all of them. I'm not packing anything significant from any promo, I don't even get decent coins from tradeable packs if it's not the 87 rating pack from champs. And little Timmy who got the game for christmas can load up for 200$ buy some store packs and have a untradeble team as good as mine. I don't even want to talk about the abysmal gameplay.
I think evolutions tried to fix it but the curve is stupidly hard. Honestly, I'm surprised not many people are saving all of their evolutions to grind certain players. For example, cards like Christian Benavente (set piece god) and Jone Amezaga have some of the best evolutions in the entire game but I haven't seen 1 content creator talk about either of them or other meta evo's that take more than 2 evolutions (besides Mainoo). It seems like people are so focused on spreading out their evolutions and taking the new quick meta player rather than investing in gold/ silver cards for the long run.
I hear ya. Evos are a great idea, one of the best they've ever had, but the power curve and lack of casual game modes make it difficult to fully enjoy them.

an inform was a luxury, I saw maybe 2 icons (at the time legends) and one TOTY the whole year in the enemy team since my team was worth around 150k at max, finished that fifa with around 1700 games with ibarbo
I packed 1 icon from FIFA 14 (their first year being in the game) to FIFA 22. Since then, I've packed 10+. And it's not worth getting excited about

last years ive played with silvers the whole game but now there are no silver informs so ive stuck to a RTG where i only use silver cards and upgrade them cant get higher then div 4 though.

Fifa14 and 17 were the most enjoyable for me. Left Fifa 20 for mental health as it was not enjoyable any more. Do you still have mid-season upgrades? Where your IF got upgraded after the base card got upgraded in Feb/March?

Well..this is one of the reasons why I don't play ultimate team that much... Gold cards are good only for the beginning...And if you don't start UT when the game is released is so hard to get a good team...you literally need to play UT 24/7 or have an incredible luck in packs...And the chemistry, I understand it, but it can be more fun without it, or at least to not count that much, so you can really make your dream team...
You forgot That this game is a luck based game. The game Choses 1 player from the start who gets heavily favoured to win the game. Your card wont help you to win this game
Just play possession and hold the ball. Thats what I do when the game favors my opponent with rebounds, etc.

Merry Christmas! But not for or with EA 😂. Just finished second weekend league since launch after not playing for 2 month. Best I get is 5x 85 looool. When all these promos are out. I will deinstall that scam again. They just never change…
meh, low rated gold cards like ibarbo or esswein was never "that" good, it's just that there were no fut champs back then so people are just equally shit and doesnt know how to deal with fast players. If you ever play Gfinity tournies back then you will quickly see only the top cards actually perform well, I think the only somewhat low rated cards that were actually competitive whole year round was Ramires in fifa 14-16 and Griezmann in fifa 16
I recently started to play fifa again after 10 years.
I enjoy it somewhat but after doing squad battles and a couple rival matches, i need something to play thats chill but makes sense to play.
Something is missing for us casuals who dont wanna play competetive EVERY game after squad battles… :D

I’ve been loving your videos that are outlining everything wrong with the modern fifas/fc 24. I used to love Fifa 14,15,16, 17 and even 18 and at the age of around 14 I was able to win division 1 titles on all those games, I was literally a child and was beating people with my practically full rare gold teams including Benteke, ibarbo etc. Now I can feel the sluggish ai holding me back most games and can already tell its chosen the opposition to “win” / have an advantage over me by how our ai play. My main reason for continuing to sporadically play every so often is just because I enjoy football itself and want a fun football game to play. Sadly I don’t think the game is going to change for awhile.

im so greatful i got to experience fifa 14 at that time, even if it had BS moments as well, people used to play for fun, there were no weekly rivals rewards, no fut champs to sweat on the weekends , you'd hop into divisions and have fun with whatever team u wanted to use. faced a 5 back rat? just back out and you wont be punished to wait another week for rewards, you can replay the division with rewards as much as you wanted. now everything has to be competitive, sweaty, and results mean more than the experience of playing, which saddens my heart that kids of today can't have the experience i had

I no longer play this POS franchise, but the community has always been the worst and best part about it. I kinda miss this part of FIFA. But again, not paying 60 USD for a game that feels nothing like football despite all the hardware improvements over the years. The less you play, the more you notice how flawed this gambling focused franchise is. Really wish PES made a comeback so EA had to work for their money again. I will forever miss the prime of FIFA games.
5:35 strongly disagree with that statement. FIFA 13 non-rare 79 rated David Luiz was an absolute monster who had no meaningful stats over 80 but could easily stop Welliton, Emenike, TOTY players etc. It was absolutely insane how busted that card was in-game. There was literally no reason to ever go for a more expensive CB because that David Luiz was goated til the end of the game (+extremely easy to link because Brazil was OP with him, Dedé, Felipe Santana, Ramires and other pacey monsters who could mix the team, not to mention the PL links). Smalling could still be improved tbh.
Tbh EA did everything the community asked for. Go back some years on futbin or social media comments and you'll find tons of those. Same as "nontent" nowadays if there's only a ruben neves (gullit gang) 87 sbc for 20k or shit like that. You would have paid a shit ton of coins for that sbc some years ago before toty...
I critized that years ago and got stupid comments as response to it. And tbh with (good, free) Evos, I can live with that eventough it pisses me off that every idiot plays with mbappe, blanc, vvd, etc.
And just look back at the first years of sbcs, fut, icons and the promoteams. I remember having kuba futbday (linked with pisczek gold or maybe even a +1 special card on rb) in my team at beginning of tots.
What I miss most is making starter teams with players like Acheampong (legend!!!), Rigoni & Paredes at Zenit or any CB with 75-80 pace.
Man do I miss Fifa 10-15… I grew up with Fifa 11 UT and it was simple.
Buying random bronze players without price ranges, playing bronze tournaments.
It was much simpler and free to play friendlier!

Just started playing FC24 a month ago and the ultimate team about 2 weeks ago, havent played UT since 2020 and wow its so confusing - VERY highly rated women cards, those ICON cards everywhere, even in the lower divisions. There is a fucking color bomb in your face if you venture more into the leagues, I have no clue what all these colour cards mean anymore and it fucking sucks....
I miss silver Elton with 5* skills from FIFA 18, or Cristiano. Playing with those kinda of cards for long long time was something special.

In FIFA 15 you didn’t need 5 million for a CR7 or Messi (yes there was a time w no price ranges and the players were expensive af). You only need 3k and got the best trio upfront. Gervinho Doumbia and Ibarbo (all 3 played for AS Rom at that time) thats no joke OG‘s will feel what i say
Make fifa not about "Cards" again please. I quit when Ultimate team took over career mode as priority. I played football games from 1998 til about 2010. There was only a very brief period in which football games were advancing and improving things that mattered. They are now tools to exploit children and adults alike. Shouldn't be legal.
The community ist big problem aswell. I'm playing casual, no sweating whatsoever. If i lose, i lose. I don't try to be the CR7 of Controller. I play my type of ball, if your style is, mbappe, salah, jairzinho cut back passes griddy style, have fun but without me. The community is just rats. Everybody blaming ea, yeah they've done shit a decent amount of times now, but it's a video game for christ sake. Everybody acting like they youtube-pro-stars, sad how the fifa community degenerated...
This also happened because people are more interested in the pack openings rather than in the gameplay.

2. Gameplay is shit. FIFA 14, if you were better than your opponent you won 2-0, even with shitty gold cards. FIFA 21 doesn’t matter your level, you you have cracked players you and your opponent will score 6-7 goals each match and who has the favorable script wins.
So yeah, of course they will put hundreds of promos, and it’s not even for the money: they do it to keep the attention alive on the game and to make you log every day, since you don’t play the game to PLAY but to collect cards

Div 6-3 feels extremely sweaty because everyone is copying strats from pros/youtubers, they dont think from themselves and just use meta shit, I think people here spend the most in FC points. Equivalent to League of Legends platinum-diamond.
Once you get to top divisions you get players that play with non meta teams because they are actually good at the game, whilst also recognizing that they are not going pro so they don't have to buy FC Points. This reminds me of Masters in LoL (Top 1% of players), where people just fuck around a lot and experiment with builds that end up defining the meta.

I think it’s insane I left fifa at fifa 19 after playing for 10 years plus and came back to Fut Champs being way easier than like Div5-6 in Rivals is wild, also after 5 days playing I have a better team than I used to after 10 months of grinding 💀💀💀 absolutely insane like all my players have mega icon stats and they cost a 5-70k … what’s going on icons are selling for 30k … they used to be at least 300k the “bad” ones that were still considered amazing

There's too much options in SBC/evo cards that can replace gold card.
An ‘All Gold Card’ mode would be great, similar to how Fortnite did their ‘No Build’ mode. I’ve not played/bought FIFA since 2019 but I would definitely purchase it if it had an all gold mode
