My first breast reconstruction was with sub pectoral implants. I wish I would have been more informed about how this would affect not only posture but the effect of range in motion of the shoulder, pectoralis major strength and of course breast animation deformity. When I had my second reconstruction I DIEP Flap. I still notice rounded shoulders but fortunately I have had a qualified team of therapist that work on manual, lymphatic, dry needling and strengthening techniques. one thing I could advise is that when focusing on improving posture in the cervical/thoracic region often times people will hyperextend the lower back so it is important to remember to tuck the pelvis at the same time as correcting . I found great relief in all areas when I started flying kites - now I am the director of a kite club and can fly any kites from huge show kites to technical four line stunt kites.
Last week I visited a physiotherapist in the hospital where I had mastectomy on 1st of April 2021. I showed her all the exercises I was doing and she was amazed at the flexibility of my body which I owe mostly to you.So I wanted to thank you again and say how useful your videos have been for me.
Thank you Cari! Really appreciate you watching and commenting! I too am looking forward to the weight loss video - just organizing the date to film now! Jen :)
Hi from the US! Thanks for all your videos! A lot of stuff l wish I knew when I was starting treatment. PT helped me immensely with issues I had during & after chemo, surgery, & radiation. Also looking forward to the weight loss video as well! I was finally able to get back into weightlifting, yoga, and other exercise for a while now that has also helped a lot. chemo put me into menopause & also on anti estrogen meds has made weight loss a struggle.
Thank you so much for your positive feedback! We're planning the date for filming the weight loss video :) I think a lot of people need help with this issue. Jen x

Hi Tanya, I think postural supports / taping / bracing can be a good mental reinforcement for posture, but ultimately it shouldn't really be relied on for the long term. Long term posture improvements should come from strength, flexibility and good ergonomics. I hope this helps! Jen x
Hi Jen. I had a double mastectomy in 2/22 and radiation therapy ending 5/4/22. Since then, within 4-5 months I have had what I think is RFS on the radiated chest area and arm pit. I am considering a surgery to help me with the scar tissue and was wondering if you know anything about that or have seen anyone post scar tissue removal? My skin feels like it is attached to either muscle or rib cage and it is as hard as cement on my left side. Other specialist therapists thought it was chest lymphedema, but it really hasn’t changed and the scarring has just gotten worse.
Hi, thanks for your question and apologies for my slow reply. I have seen patients with Radiation Fibrosis who have had surgery, but it has been breast reconstruction after mastectomy and for at least a few cases I have seen significant improvement in their tissue following the reconstruction (specifically DIEP Flap breast reconstruction). There are some patients who are having fat grafting procedures done (as opposed to breast reconstruction) to assist with reducing the impact of radiated scar tissue. I haven't seen anyone with this myself as yet but have heard the results are good. Having a difficult time with posture since my double mastectomy and had large breasts
After lympectomy and radiation, I been suffering from blood clots on my chest, what can I do
Will it be of any value to use a posture strap during the day to force the upper body in a upright position?
