Hello from St-Lambert (Quebec), I inherited my mother's old Singer 306k which works wonderfully well. I modernized it by changing some parts like the pedal, led light, and the coil case. Changing the bobbin case made it quieter! If it is the worst Singer model, I think it sews great.❤ My parents were married in 1956, so I assume they bought this model around those years. I have the brown-beige variant, a weird indescribable color. But it works so well!
Hi, really interesting video, I am watching all. I have some of these sewing machines, but I can't find the correct bobbins. Could you give me the really dimensions of the bobbin? I bought some of them, different times, but they didn't ever correspond to the right size.
@@JebbAdams I am new to vintage machines and what to know how take care of mine. I have a 15-91 and a 306K. They are new to me and I will be using them for sewing. No budget for a "new" machine and dont really want all the bells and whistles just something to FMQ with and "make" things..rugs, bags, repair my son's various outdoor items.
@@beckybreyen7573 What a great message! So glad you have a couple of wonderful machines already! And Strong; both of them! Quilting is in my 2022 calendar. The intention was to become a sewer ... and then I fell down the RUclips burrow, lol! Are you going to publish videos about your restorations?
@@JebbAdams nooooo....lol. I am really not restoring them. The 306k is at the sewing center for a tune up, same place I took the 15-91. There are just some things I want to clean "better" and know how to take care of going forward. They seem like straight forward machines and the youtube rabbit hole has given me confidence!
@@beckybreyen7573 Do you have user manuals for the machines? You can get them for free online, but some try to get you to pay. Checkout Andy Tube for videos on maintaining machines and he has a link to Singer Manuals as well. Chatterbox Quilts makes quilts and restores machines too. My first step was to find the little oil ports on the top cover and put a drop or two of oil in each port. But you already had that done when you sent them for servicing. But do it anyway. You can't hurt them. Besides if you have gotten here, then you can get 'there' wherever 'where' is for you. You can do this! The 306K, as you have noticed, is lighter in weight than the Singer 15-91. I like both models. You know you can do this! Do it!
Hi there Linda Baker! I hope you are having fun these days! I am too. That is a great question. I may not be qualified to answer that! BUT What I do know from experience is that they are a lot of work to take apart and put back together again! So that is my experience but what about you, Linda? Do have a 306/319? They are great machines. I have a few 306’s (4), and 2-319’s. If I ran across a Singer 320, I would buy it. I paid $160 for the green 319k and $150 for the shiny black 319w. That is Canadian dollars which are about 27% less than US money. My most popular videos are the 201’s and 306 videos. In my Top Ten most watched vids playlist, 9 vids are 201 or 306 and the 10th is the Singer 431G Combination. I want to let you know how much I appreciate you coming here and chatting with me! Thank you for subscribing Linda; it does help. Tell me about your machines or whatever. I live in downtown Montréal. Peace!

I like that colour Sylvain! Cool story.
Awesome machines.
The more I look into these, the more interested I get. The idea of having a treadle machine that will reverse and zig-zag is pretty appealing.
Gloria cannot be as old as 1949 because the 306K was made from 1954 onwards in Kilbowie. Still a respectable grand dame!
Yes that is also my understanding too. My 306K was also built in 1954.
My black 1954 Singer 306K maybe is an earlier model as it does not have the external cams.
Hi Jebb, I have one of these, could you tell me how to disable or lower the feed dog. Thanks!

Thanks Gianluca Urso! I am sure you will have success! Good luck!
What kind of oil are you using
Hi Becky Breyen; I use Tri-Flow Oil and Tri-Flow Grease. I am more than satisfied with the results. What do you use?
