What are you guys going as, this Halloween? I'm stuck between Dracula and the Invisible Man. Also there ain't NO ADS on this video! Please support ya boi if you can or go listen to my music. This video took me about 80 hours to complete in total believe it or not... Or you can go follow my Instagram. I want my classmates from Highschool to think I'm cool again. Cheers, Mario
Even on my demo/rough mix I made this week from scratch, having only a few hours at home to assemble the track myself as I was tracking, I couldn't resist the creative spirit of SFX. It told me to build a stack cymbal and overdub hitting it with a wooden beater right at the end of the intro buildup, so I did. Your album rules and I should listen to it again!
I agree about that song being your best piece of work. I dig the feel of that song. Thanks for making this long video. It kept my attention all the way through.
@@Mario_DiSanto your content is great. I keep it playing during my drum warm ups on the practice pad. Next time you are in the Philly, New York area I’ll cover your tickets. Have you heard of the Outsect or the Low Spirits? They are featured on a new Halloween comp. They remind me of the Seeds and Count 5.
I missed the Outsect at the last Gories show as I was busy with the interviewing duties. Haven't heard of Low Spirits. I will check out both. Cheers@@LucasDad
Great tips. I really like watching the process of music being made and the way you talked about it was amazing and inspiring. looking forward to future projects!
Mario! I did listen to the song a lot and the Sound FX did add a lot for me. The juxtaposition of these sick lyrics and happy rhythm is so much fun. I know a lot of great songs that have the music pulling feelings in one direction, and lyrics that pull in the opposite direction, and yours is a perfect example. It's pretty amazing that while recording your album, you documented the whole process so faithfully. This video is a real eye opener and I enjoyed it a lot, again! Take care Brother!
Claude, there are a lot of moments I wish I got on camera for these videos. I am usually so focused on the actual tracking session that RUclips videos are the last thing on my mind haha. And don't tell anyone but sometimes I fake the moments that I forget to press 'record' on my camera...shhhhh ;)
(Warning, halloween theme reply) Nobody here but real ghoulish fans@@Mario_DiSanto. I'm bringing this secret to my grave, and to all of our graves! Mouhou ha ha ha!!!
Im 7 minutes in, and this is gonna be a great video. So many people seem to miss out the idea of adding FXs and fully fledging out productions. Whenever I get a demo of a song, it's usually either acoustic guitar and my scratch vocals or maybe some half arrangement and scratch vocals, but I'm always thinking of finished arrangements even when I'm writing out a song or parts. Really love the breakdown for Serial Skinner! Your content always inspires me to create more concepts and ideas!
Cool, I love using my Tascam DR-05X hand-held recorder to record Foley effects. I normally play them back on my old E-mu sampler. One of my faves is the old smashed milk bottle on the downbeat. If you start recording your own, I'd recommend buying some safety glasses though, lol.
Serial Skinner is easily one of my favorite songs of yours. Was totally hoping for a video like this for it. Looking forward to Confession Tapes Vol 3 through 63
17:50 Yes! Tempo fluctuations are amazing! Since I cant play drums well, I'll program a tempo map that varies so it'll match the flow of what I picture for the song, and then I'll send the track out to one of my drummer friends. On the other side of the coin, I'm always practicing instruments, playing to albums/concerts, and working with with other musicians in jams, really locking in with the groove. I played with one particular drummer where his timing fluctuated heavily. Like, it wasn't a "okay, we're slowing down into a slow section/picking up to a faster section" way. It was more of a "oh snap, the drummer just completely rushed an entire measure." There were a couple practice sessions with him wqhere he said my timing was off only to come back a day or two later and say "Oh no, Bill, I listened to the recording I captured in my DAW, and you were locked in with me 100% of the ti, idk what I heard" when it was his sloppy, loose playing that through him off.
Yeah...drummers can do that haha. Especially during fills, it is very easy to unintentionally rush the measure. There definitely is a little give and play when you are jamming like this though. The other instrumentations do have to compromise a bit sometimes in order to match the drummers down beat on the 1.
Awesome video Mario! Loved the costumes, especially the same one you used for my neighbours cat! Oh and that band I went to try out for wasn’t my thing haha, they were too heavy metal where I’m more psychedelia/ garage rock. Anyway have a great day😊

Great costumes, man! Your techniques always inspire me!
The way you switch between songwriter and the primary character of your song terrifies me.
It's easy to do when you're the same person.
Love the run chase part/lyrics reminds me of Run For Your Life off rubber soul ;)
Happy Halloween everyone!!!
Great vid. Hell yeah Mr. Bungle shout!
One would think I am a huge Mr.Bungle fan as they are right up my alley but for some reason they never clicked with me.

I never realized how fucked up that song is. I also love the costumes. And of course the music.
Read description. Confirmed weirdness. Today was a good day.

Got no words for how much inspiration and happiness you bring me! Will your album come on vinyl?
Working on that!
I don't recall seeing the grand piano in any of your videos. But I probably wasn't observant enough. Would love a shot if it. Btw. Love your stuff
The piano is in my living room so I don't think it has been shown in any of my videos yet. I will try to incorporate a shot of it soon.

SAFETY GLASSES? I only know 'safety squints'.
This is awesome, very inspiring
Sup dude, can you do a video about shure mic mixers. I just got one, needs fixing up, but i love all the sounds you get.
Are you looking for something specific? Like how I use them?

Damn do we have the budget for a music video for each?
@@Mario_DiSanto we barely had the budget for the first. But that’s why we rotate and do a video for every 5th entry

It wasn’t a dark lonely night
Out in the middle of nowhere
The wind didn’t blow
And the dogs didn’t howl
And I didn’t hear footsteps coming down the hall
But nevertheless I wasn’t scared
I did pull out a stick of gum but I didn’t chew it
I threw it down several times and put it back in my pocket
Ooooooooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooow
But suddenly I wasn’t attacked at all
By a creature of huge size or even an ugly person
I did get a case of indigestion
So I went home… …
Ooooooooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeooooooooooooooooow
Did my best to remember my song from many moons ago.
Man Chuk, you need to invest in some tums for that indigestion lol
