- BR Class 55 Deltic 55009 'Alycidon' takes on a temporary identity of scrapped classmate 55013 'The Black Watch' on UK Railtour's "The Coronation Deltic". The original 55013 was withdrawn from service at the end of 1981, and by the end of 1982, had met the cutters torch.
The change of identity for No.9 was in celebration of former Deltic driver Harry Wilson, who recently celebrated his 100th Birthday, with the identity 55013 being chosen due to being his favourite member of the class, with Wilson and his family joining the tour at York for the final stretch to Scarborough. In addition to capturing the Deltic at Newark Northgate, and running only a few minutes ahead of the tour was LNER Class 91 91101 'Flying Scotsman', on 1D07 London Kings Cross to Leeds.

An excellent view of the Deltic passing through.
Class shot this, the 91 set almost a museum piece itself, but better yet the thundering power of 36 cylinders giving their all, and echoing sound as it approaches, one very magic gem of a shot, on two fronts.
That thing is ballin'
Nice video of the deltic
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Good video :)
Thanks!
Superb video of the Deltic.
Thank you :)
Didn't know they were still using class 91s
My Lords!
When's the locomotive returning to traffic
Load 13 Kings Cross to Scarborough and failed on the return at Retford.
Not bad
*for a Deltic in the past 2 years...*
Not a major failure thankfully, easily rectified
