We'll probably will never know the reason why they wanted her to play w him. But that reminded me of someone in my own family who would definitely would do something like that without asking if i feel like doing something only to have something to brag about to others later to seem like a "good parent". As a pianist, I can understand the nervousness and discomfort. My parents are decent, but this seems like something my mom would do. But props to you guys for saving her! W
I HATE those kinds of parents. Those kind of people are the ones that will extinguish the spark in you, who will put you in a uncomfortable spot, and push you to do stuff that you’re not comfortable of doing. She might not be confident of her skill yet to be able to perform in front of everyone, and I understand that feeling. I personally know that feeling…
It's important to push people outside their comfort zone, that's how barriers are broken, dreams are realized, talents recognized, friends made, worlds changed. HOWEVER, I do side entirely with you. This is not a push out of a comfort zone. This is shitty parents trying to live vicariously through their daughter, projecting their own shortcomings or regrets on her. The look of disappointment when the mother rolls her eyes is absolute douchebaggery. I hope this girl a.) wants to play this instrument and wasn't forced into it and b.) doesn't let anyone, especially not her parents or people she loves, shut her down or turn her off to her own dreams. It's the people we love that break us down the hardest. She needs a gentle nudge when appropriate, not a forceful shove into her dickhead parents' trophy case. My wife went through the same thing. Now she has cPTSD and motivational issues, and this video reminded me of what her parents were like the first time I met them. Needless to say, I gather she's happier without them breathing down her neck anymore, and I am sure this girl will be too. I hope her parents realize before they drive their child away.

I disagree. Whenever i have been forced to do something and then did it, i have felt more accomplished and came out of it stronger and with more confidence to do it later. People are too quick to let normal every day anxieties get in the way of their ability to accomplish things and it makes them weaker and less capable people.
This is sad, the girl was FORCED to play, and it was OBVIOUS she was uncomfortable, neverless, thanks for the awesome guy to help out and play the song.
It’s okay to encourage your kids to step out of their confort zone every once in awhile, but respect them when they clearly show signs of stress or discomfort. Giving them the confidence to say “no, I don’t want to” in situations is an important lesson to learn, especially when they get to middle/high school.

Oh yes, a parent pushes their child a little bit out of her comfort zone. Oh shame on them for trying to help their child be more well-adjusted. You're dumb.
We'll probably will never know the reason why they wanted her to play w him. But that reminded me of someone in my own family who would definitely would do something like that without asking if i feel like doing something only to have something to brag about to others later to seem like a "good parent". Wish her parents didn't insist on playing without asking. She was obviously uncomfortable and shy. But just stood there filming. Omg🤦♀️
The way the mother rolled her eyes… she’s a piece of work and I bet she got upset with her daughter later because she didn't want to play. 😢
Exactly like wtf
Yeah
Yeah I can't understand why parents force their kids to do stuff they are uncomfortable with
I literally had the same thought 😢
Winning isn’t always easy. But wasting yourself away sure is.
OMGGG the guy who came (the savior) looked like harry styles!!!
It’s so annoying because i feel like this is the reason why i can’t express my personality in front of my own family, it just makes me uncomfortable
that's what mine do 😭😭
Basically every Asian parent
Mine were like that, too.
The eye roll from the mother and even granny not caring about how uncomfy she was, that poor girl! 😢 but well done to the guy who stepped in 😊

if a child is feeling uncomfortable there is a reason. always listen to your kids!
Especially when you have her sitting next to a man that she doesn't know.
If you let kids always decide for themselves they may never push themselves. It's ok to get put on the spot sometimes but i think this kid just isn't very good if she doesn't even know the names of anything

I hate when parents do this. I'm not even kidding. My parents did this to me a lot and now it's left me with stage fright and being afraid of being called up to present something. I still have this anger in me everytime they call me up. But now that I'm an adult, I can call them out on their shit when they try to do the same thing again and it honestly left them surprised. I'm glad they stopped after seeing my point cuz that terrified me as a kid. I'm not letting that happen to me as I age.
Look back on all these memories & as you do so move your eyes from side-to-side this tells you that you are moving on: this rewrites the negative experiences & emotions attached to these memories & brings them to a at least neutral perspective with no negativity. Works everytime! Based on bodies natural movement & neural pathways accessed when moving around especially in unknown or built up environments: or when you are moving along defined paths; you have to look side-to-side as you progress along the path. This enables you to MOVE ON BUB!!

I have been playing piano and I've been singing ever since I was four and at every single party or gathering we went to I was forced to perform. As I grew older I began to realise how uncomfortable i felt while doing it but I was told that it's a "phase" when everyone's confidence goes down and it's normal that I'm feeling this way. They said that they felt happy and proud when I performed but I feel like my perspective counts too right? So ever since then I promised myself I'm never gonna do this with my kids and I'll only do it if they really want to perform themselves.

Yea those little things you expirience as a kid can really impact you in the future. I always think back on those awkward moments that come into your mind when you try to sleep. Like those things that could of happened when you were 10 and absolutely nobody remembers but me. I feel like those moments contribute to my social anxiety while growing up
I disagree. Whenever i have been forced to do something and then did it, i have felt more accomplished and came out of it stronger and with more confidence to do it later. People are too quick to let normal every day anxieties get in the way of their ability to accomplish things and it makes them weaker and less capable people.

It’s okay to encourage your kids to step out of their confort zone every once in awhile, but respect them when they clearly show signs of stress or discomfort. Giving them the confidence to say “no, I don’t want to” in situations is an important lesson to learn, especially when they get to middle/high school.

You COULD'NT be more correct.
After years of opera training I still had anxiety & disdain for public performance for this very reason.
