Listen to previous ones. Jmo, but a voice more suited to a 40 something, strong woman, not old sounding. I'm old and this voice reminds me of that old lady investigator show, Murder She Wrote.
I just finished listening to the latest 2 Scarpetta novels: IDENTITY UNKNOWN and UNNATURAL DEATH. BOTH narrated by January Lafoy (?) who did an excellent job as narrator! She's amazing giving each character their own uniqueness! Sorry but this narration is stagnant and boring.
Great author great narrator. I am thankful no AI that really ruins the story. It might be the narrator but it sounds like a J B Robb audio. Thank You!!
I’m may have heard this narrator before and I think she does a great job with Scarpetta‘s voice, but she doesn’t really change the voice for the characters much. She does manage to put a little bit of variation to Moreno‘s voice but that’s about it
It just dawned on me that this narrator sounds just like my mother in law 🙀🤗 . She lives in Alaska we don't see her much but a very nice person ...Thanks for sharing this book . I love Patricia Cromwell. It has been years since I have read one ❤💖
My immediate reaction was that the reader has too old a voice for the woman I think of as Scarpetta from reading Scarpetta books and hearing her narration. It's as if it's her mother reading. Will continue...
Earlier Scarpetta books were brilliant after 9/11 the books became less about murder mysteries/ pathologist orientated and more about American politics and dare I even say it…propaganda☹️😳 I find that as a non American hard to understand or care about all the emphasis and move into politics that Scapetta has been taken into. That is just my own opinion, the books are still very well written…just the topics are of less and less interest😮😢😢
The narrator is not great. She's reading it like a teacher to a class of 5 year olds : over exaggerating & going slow. Edit: at x1.25 speed, its great.
This is a difficult narrator to listen to. How does someone get s narrator’s job? Doesn’t he/she need to audition? How could anyone believe this is a good narration?
I've had designer pieces and knockoffs of kislux . I ultimately prefer the knockoffs because I'm not worried about scratching it, preserving it, or someone stealing it.
I sure this will be a good story but I have say being sincere, the narration is atrocious I suppose for readers who do not have english as first language it is comprehensible but the incorrect accentuation , jumble of inflection and shamble of timing makes this a very difficult/frustating listen
The narration is dreadful. I can't even listen to it and it's so disappointing. I wanted so badly to listen to it. The narrator usually used is great, but this one just doesn't fit.
I had to bump up the speed a little bit to make the narration work better for my brain. Great book and narration.
That was such a practical suggestion. It helps a lot. Thank you!
Thank you, that fixed the brain issue here, too. :)
Thx
The narration is very good. She does a great job with the story.
Thank you, I so enjoy listening to audiobooks
Love the Scarpetta books. I love that the narrator sounds like a mature adult. Think she's a perfect choice for this book.

I agree that increasing narration speed is much better. Awful at normal speed.
I can't take this reader

So this is a series? this isn't the first book? I'll search for those other books, I hate listening out of order
@@Miss_JudyI think there are about 25 or so of the Scarlett’s series…I think the earlier ones are so much better than these later ones.
@@kikibalden7462 thank you! 😃
Yes, January Lafoy is such a GOOD narrator!
Didn't even make it to the coffee pot 😂 7:12

Patricia cornwell is an amazing writer all of her books just suck you in and make you want to read more

She does the JD Robb books
I can picture the narrator with a Beret and Bongos reading Beat Poetry. Bumping it up to 1.5 speed helped!

1:14 in I'm done this voice is hurting my head
Seriously? Yikes. I flee that too. Thanks.

I got used to the narration. Excellent story. Well done. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
One of the best. Her books are always great?
Great narrator
Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤🧑🏼🦳🌵
I love Character, just not not the Narrator. Sorry she’s a lil hard to listen to .
Very tiring to listen to this unchanging forceful narration. I'm off.
She is really good like her voice she reads the indeath series
I thought I recognized the voice. The In death serie!
Gotta stop thinking about the lady in the cooler ffs!😂
This book and narrator just gave me a migraine 😢
The narrator is not great. She's reading it like a teacher to a class of 5 year olds : over exaggerating & going slow. Edit: at x1.25 speed, its great.
Thanks for the heads up. I set playback speed to 1:25 and it's better.😃
@@nancyscogin7549 RUclips is great to have that mode, thank you
Hmmm.. hard to take your criticism seriously as you actually said “ over exaggerated…”
@@kimberlyrogers9953 It's a common phrase. As an ex teacher, I know exactly what it means. Clearly, you don't.
Sorry can't stand listen to the robotic narration. It is jarring not relaxing.
I don't care for the narrator. Can't listen anymore. Very disappointed
I agree this narrator does nothing to encourage me to spend time however, I will give it ten minuets to make a fair assessment of this.
This narrator spits out the dialog. I have heard better on other Scarpetta stories....
Ok Virginia and sunset, what you trying to manipulate me into now??
Don't like then narrator's voice.
Lol the narrator is a hoot
Hi
Oh wow, the narrator is like a AI 😢
Couldn't listen. Recording keeps skipping a few words and is garbled every few minutes.
change quality to 144p. no skips after I did the same.
I am a big fan of Scarpetta books but the narration just rubbed me the wrong way.
1hr 35min
This is a difficult narrator to listen to. How does someone get s narrator’s job? Doesn’t he/she need to audition? How could anyone believe this is a good narration?
I can't listen to this narrator anymore. She reads slow, and forcefully. Just too much to try to get through this story. I sincerely tried....
This narrator is so wrong for this book.I no longer buy or read any books read by American women just terrible.
Good try buying your books next time
The pace & phrasing is terrible
Thanks for sharing
Lol im so glad i am not the only one…. I just cant stand it.
I really thoroughly enjoyed this brit named Red Fox when he narrated Bram Stokers Dracula, just can't say enough about it.
The narrator’s voice just is not believable for the character. I can’t continue.
I've had designer pieces and knockoffs of kislux . I ultimately prefer the knockoffs because I'm not worried about scratching it, preserving it, or someone stealing it.
Narration very wooden. Disappointed
Second minute & it's impossible to listen this voice😂
Narrator is somehow wrong for this book.
Too slow.
Unbelievable BS in this book. Between the covid bs and 'can't tell you're talking with AI' - looser book.
I sure this will be a good story but I have say being sincere, the narration is atrocious I suppose for readers who do not have english as first language it is comprehensible but the incorrect accentuation , jumble of inflection and shamble of timing makes this a very difficult/frustating listen
No, I find myself getting impatient. This book needs a British speaking male. This narrator is so wrong for this genre.
Bit boring, I used to really enjoy her books, I don’t think she reader helps
Sorry
Love all scarpetta novels, but AI is terrible. I will pass.
This is narration. Pray delegate...gemtly
Narration stinks!
Narration is terrible
