Have the same stove. Bought last year about 3/22. Went camping middle of April, Having a wood tent stove opened up my camping season. Being able to make coffee and full meals in the tent and keeping cozy warm is a game changer. it kept my tent so warm that i didnt need to sleep in the bag on my cot and i could sit around in shorts with out a shirt, while it was 30f degrees outside. I used it a number of camp trips now. A big bonus, that when it rains all day and night, you can cook meals, boil water for coffee which makes a rainy weekend camp .still a nice time. I know many are bummer by rain, if you have the right gear andd can stay warm and dry ...its really nice vacation. There is nothing more relaxing than having a fire place going and listening to rain...its almost therapeutic.
Sounds wonderful. I haven't had the chance to use it this past winter because my daily thyroid medication wasn't keeping my levels at the right place so I had very little energy.
I think that hole on top is so you can have your pot get direct heat for cooking. It's the only thing I can think of for it to be there. Great video and nice little stove. Thank brother
this looks like a nice little stove , and well made shall be nice to see you use it at the shelter, shall be cozy n warm in there with this . very nice Jim, thanks for showing us .
Looks like a good one. Going to be great for the camp if you do not mind bringing it in and out, and a sled would solve that problem in the winter. Thank you for showing this to us, Jim. Stay safe and stay warm
I have this stove. My best guess is that the opening on the top of the stove is for cooking with direct heat. I like having the little cover open when I cook.
You found a really good stove for the hoop shelter! I am happy for you. It will be nice to see the first video of you using it. This video really made my day. Steve. 🙂
Thanks Steve! We don’t have any snow yet but we’re getting some this afternoon and lasting into tomorrow afternoon. About 8 to 10 inches. I’ll have to get out there to knock some of that snow off the shelter!
@@MuskratJim Sounds like a winner! Have you designed a new sled for carrying your stove in the snow? It is good to hear from you. My health is getting better and I hope you are feeling more energetic. Steve
@@stephen8433 glad to hear you’re feeling better! No I haven’t designed a new sled to haul the stove. I’m just wrapping it up to keep the snow off it and tying it down to keep it from falling out. I ordered a chimney vent for the chimney so it can go through my tarp roof. It should be here by January 1st. I’m looking forward to camping out with it.
Hey Jim, Found you from a search for fitinhot. I was surprised by this stove and it's weight. I'm guessing this is anodized stainless. As I understand it's one of the few alloys that anodizes other then aluminum. That cover hole in the top is so you can put a cooking pot directly over the fire to heat faster. Old cast iron stoves had a standard sizes of cover plate for the various cast-iron skillets, kettles, etc. Also, I was under the impression it came with a pass-through plate for a tent? Darn nice little stove though. When you get it set up more permanently, could you try to estimate it's BTU output? Thanks. Happy Camping!
Happy cooking and warming Jim. Looks the business 👌 enjoy. Finding real bargains as Black Friday deals are almost gone now many companies using the terms to pass off con jobs. I'm not sure I'm ready for the hot tent experience yet. The circle in the top is to put a pan over and cook with direct flame. Like skillets and pots. That's gonna look top draw in the shelter Jim.
That hole in the top is either to put a pot on, or it has a wood pellet attachment that would hook up there.....Had a look on other stoves on amazon and they call it a cooking plate. I think you take it off to get direct heat to the bottom of your pan or pot and I think the pan or pot needs to be bigger than the opening.
I guess depending on how far you were traveling and whether or not a person was leaving it behind; the 15+ pounds. I have been checking a few portable wood stoves to have for our on our porch
I’ll be pulling the stove on a sled… with or without snow on the ground 🤣 As far as heating a front porch, it might be too small unless you’re going to be out there the whole time it’s burning.
Wow! You're getting serious. I expect some interesting videos coming in the futre. Nice piece of gear partner. The hole on top is for pans or pots. I keep thinking, pancakes. Am I wrong?
Holy good deals...This could be a game changer because it's totally made out of Stainless Steel and that pot hole removable thingy is possibly good for a cast iron or even Stanley Stainless steel cook pot if it fits, to cook up some good frog legs...lol.
@@MuskratJim Heck JIM you can get them at a grocery store...give them a go and see if they actually taste like chicken...lol...insider taste test....they taste like frogs...and the smaller sizes of legs taste better than the huge 2lb boxed ones...that's what me and Bones have found out.
