whataburger honestly is the most overated spot I''ve ever eaten at. texas loves to wax poetic about this burger chain, "its the best burger" they say, " its as good as in n out, better than shake shack!" it can't even compare to five guys, InNout or shake shack, they all blow it out the water. it tastes like an average fast food burger, like a burger king or sonics. its only good because your drunk and its 24 hours.

I feel the same way about In N Out tbh. Culver's, Mooyah, Shake Shack, and Five Guys are way better. In N Out tastes like a slightly higher quality fast food burger, but people talk about it like it is Shake Shack when it is nowhere near. I'd put it under Hardee's and even Wendy's tbh.
I had Whataburger and In N Out both in Austin back to back and they were pretty similar.

I miss Whataburger! I lived less than a mile from one in Phoenix and I would get a huge burger every Friday before work! I used so much Spicy Ketchup that the manager actually gave me a case of it to take home so I don't bug the drivethru workers when they skimp on the containers.

I've never known a single person to just get one of their normal ass burgers, those have always sucked. Whataburger is best with their specialty burgers or customizing your burger. Whataburger's problem now is they were sold to some shitty bank that is further driving the chain into the ground for increased profits

Not a fan, but the older I get the more I dislike almost all fast food. In and Out is the only one that doesn’t make me feel like absolute shit.
I dont really care much for most of their food, except for their Jalapeno Biscuits. That and the spicy ketchup is legit the only ketchup I use at home.
My first Whataburger experience was at the Houston airport this summer, and I was extremely disappointed in all aspects of the meal

As a Texan, I can tell you Whataburger is more nostalgia than anything. It’s a place you spent some late nights in high school and ate some greasy food. It’s better than McDonalds, but it’s not in the same class as In-N-Out. It’s not as good as Denny’s even. It is a place you can get jalapeños on a cheeseburger if you’re into that sort of thing.
Wait a second. You can get a random slice of pizza anywhere in New York and it’s unlike anything you can get anywhere else. It all starts with the crust. Incomparable. I was going to say maybe you had two bad whataburgers (I’ve had many), but I’m starting to think your taste buds don’t function correctly. I just want people who come to Texans to really temper their expectations if they decide to try it. Get Texas BBQ instead.
thank you. some honesty here. its popular because you can get it drunk at 2 am and you have no ability to descern flavor. its not bad but its very average and doesn't come close to the GOATS innout, shake shack, and five guys. As a born and raised Texan, I love Whataburger. However, I never get the actual burgers and will easily admit there are better fast food burgers imo (Five Guys/Shake Shack). Breakfast tacos and BBQ chicken sandwich are my mainstays every time and consistently good. Also the 24/7 hours made it amazing after-drinking food in college. Love the rants gents

I’ve never had whataburger but you can’t base an entire experience and rating on just 1 experience from 1 place. For example there’s a Jack in the box by my house and for those of you not from Cali it’s just a fast food burger chain in the west coast area. Anyway the one by my house is extremely good and every-time I order from there it’s always fresh and hot but go down the street it’s a hole other story. That’s why I say you can’t base wether you like it or not without giving it a real chance bro.

Yeah jacks is definitely under rated is way better than McDonald’s in my opinion. Jack in the boxes double bacon ultimate cheeseburger is so fukin good man. If anyone ever gets one get it with extra ketchup, mustard, mayo and cheese you’ll think me for it. It’s so damn good man.

You can’t really eat Whataburger outside of Texas. It’s not the same. Also, as a native Texan, Whataburger in general has gone downhill a little bit in the last few years.

Lol this is like the fifth time this week I’ve seen people say it’s overrated and I just have to say that people go there for all the specialty burgers (Sweet and Spicy, Patty Melt, Avocado Bacon, Chili Cheese, Chicken BBQ, etc.) not for the regular ass burgers despite the name and everyone not from TX usually gets led astray and tries the normal ass burger that to me just tastes normal lol.
It’s all about the All time favorites! Everything else is just regular smegular Patty melt, sweet and spicy bacon burger, green chili burger!

Whataburger is meh. A lot of them opening in Kansas City area with Mahomes being a franchise owner. Burgers are terrible, patty melt is overrated, it's on par with BK. It's not that I'll never eat there, but not on top of the list.

Went to Culver’s in Utah and it was 6/10 bang average.
I'm from Shreveport and we have the worst Whataburgers I've ever seen, be grateful you didn't get it here. Our Griff's chain is way better.

I can't believe Greg went to Whataburger and couldn't figure out what the order should be. They have a section of the menu called "All-Time Favorites" those are the ones you order. And if you are going to order a regular whataburger or something like that, at least customize it a bit, Whataburger allows you to pick and choose from anything on the menu and combine stuff. I had them put the chili from their chili burger on a What-a-Chicken sandwich, and added bacon.
