But what about #2,3, and 5 with odd shaped hole - any tricks, what pressure, are you just listening to hear the pistons move or is it suppose to hold air like a tire? Thanks very much for taking the time to do this video.
Hi, I'd use a rubber tipped angled blow nozzle like this: amzn.to/4e0JGIJ I'd limit it to 50 psi, and with overdrive limit to 25-30psi (that should be enough to apply the clutch). when applying air, you should hear a thud. If it just blows all the air by with no thud then you may have a problem

Hello. I work on vehicles at home in my garage. I came across this 6F35 transmission for a front wheel drive 1.6 Turbo 2013 Ford Escape. The code I got was P0732, gear 2 incorrect ratio. My head went straight to the torque converter, front pump & filter. I do hear a whining noise only while the vehicle is on drive within the first 10 to 20 mph range, I'd say. The vehicle drives perfectly fine at higher speeds and in reverse. There's no issues. The only issue is initially taking off with no power until the transmission catches and starts moving again. Before I put this transmission in, do you have any recommendations? Do you think I should do everything you did in this video? I'm hoping the issue is only the converter, front pump & filter.
@BigBensCarsAndCycles, I completed the rebuild in my garage thanks to your video and some guidance at my local transmission shop. Quick question: Since this is a rebuild, how many quarts of Marcon Transmission Fluid should I use? O'Reilly representative showed me 8.9 quarts if it's a rebuild, and 4.5 if it's just regular Transmission fluid service.
hey Ben, I rebuilt my09 escape 6f35 and am getting to the last steps, i got some mercon lv at the parts store and a conversation broke out about using v instead of lv..i got the mercon lv but now i am nervous about it. what would you suggest? specifically===>Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid 1 Gallon
I have been using Valvoline lv fluid in my 14 fusion for 8 years now, I change out 4 quarts Every 36000 miles or every two years, and my transmission works fantastic, even at19400 miles, and I have a 300 ish HP vep 2 liter engine
20 mins 30 second in you take out a ring for the intermediate clutch, it covers the return spring and you warm it only goes in one way. You wouldn't happen to know the name of this part? Mine is in 3 pieces and not in any diagram..
28 minutes in, bushing and support tower. i bet this is what is wrong with my trans. i hear a scraping noise coming from here in neutral and in gear.................. where do you find parts?
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles this is amazing timing, I just got my transmission out of the escape last week. Thanks for filming this, I am competent just not experienced and this is what I needed.
I knew a builder that has dorito bags everywhere and everybuild he did a i had to re-do em cause they never left and a few of them had doritos inside the transmission.
I can’t believe there are so many parts in this transmission. What a major job. That’s why Coleman Taylor wants $4650 to rebuild it. A fully rebuilt trans is $3100. Who would spend that much on a 2010 Ford Fushion? Time to buy another used car! It’s a sorry trans built by Ford, that only lasted 150,000 miles. And the car was driven very easily. More people are buying foreign cars because they seem to be built better. What a major time consuming and costly transmission this is to rebuild.
Back in the day if a transmission was slipping they would put sawdust in the transmission, idk if that’s what that is but I bet someone attempted to duplicate the theory

Looks like it's out of stock. Replace the 4 seals on the bare drum, they're all different sizes can't mix them up. Put the direct clutch in next.. wave spring first, then steel, friction, etc then end with the pressure plate, pop the piston and spring in, then overdrive, I can make a video when the opportunity comes. But I do have confidence that I can with this video to go by. I need to ask you please if you could possibly find the exact master kit link that I can buy. I also need to know if you could tell me what else I need to buy. I looked through the comments on this page, and I see you suggested a 7153 kit, a pump and a converter. I tried to look for 7153 on Google but there is different kinds that have different letters before 7153. I'm just not sure exactly what to get and are you saying that I would need to buy a pump and a torque converter as well? My transmission jerked then wouldn't move but moves works when its cold and also makes a clicking sound when idle in park. I have 2000 to spend so whatever you think I should just get will you please send me links to the stuff, I could send you some money for your help. Please and thanks. Its been since November and I am struggling.
Sorry to sound like an idiot. I have a 6f35 transmission in my Ford edge. I think the axle bearing or output shaft bearing is bad. It's it accessible from the exterior of the vehicle? I don't want to disassemble it if I don't have to but can follow your guide here if need be
Hi, the final drive bearings require taking the case halves off out of the vehicle
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles do you have a part number for those bushings? This is a 6F50 not a 6F35
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles I am posting a video on my RUclips if you could give it a watch just to see if you have an answer for me that would be greatly appreciated I have no idea anything about these front wheel drive transmissions I know none of the clearances but I posted a short to be able to draw other people's attentions and I posted the full video which is not quite there yet but it should be on its way any second now
Rebuild cost parts an labor?
Transmission removal and overhaul - expect to spend 4 or 5 grand
Hi, it's a good idea to fully tear it down to inspect everything and see if any clutches were burnt when the pump was losing pressure
@rome8087 glad you got it built. Yes, 9 quarts is right.
@BigBensCarsAndCycles, do you happen to have another video testing the Air Check Locations to make sure the clutches work?
@rome8087 no, but I've got another 6f35 I'm building at work and can make a video tomorrow
Why do you say that if there’s a ridge I need a new case?
You can also get a case saver. That wear can cause to case bushing failure to the axle, according to sonnax www.ebay.com/itm/115672231521
Honestly looks like a shredded up rag.
hey Ben, I rebuilt my09 escape 6f35 and am getting to the last steps, i got some mercon lv at the parts store and a conversation broke out about using v instead of lv..i got the mercon lv but now i am nervous about it. what would you suggest? specifically===>Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid 1 Gallon
I would use whatever your dipstick says. Should say LV. Also, I've heard on a Ford tech group that LV supersedes V and can be used either way.
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles thanks, just didn't want to screw up on the easy part after all the hard work.
That is your intermediate clutch snap ring. The ford dealer can get one for you if you can't find it
28 minutes in, bushing and support tower. i bet this is what is wrong with my trans. i hear a scraping noise coming from here in neutral and in gear.................. where do you find parts?
Hi. You can get parts on ebay
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles this is amazing timing, I just got my transmission out of the escape last week. Thanks for filming this, I am competent just not experienced and this is what I needed.
@@johnsmith-dm2tq awesome. Good luck!
I knew a builder that has dorito bags everywhere and everybuild he did a i had to re-do em cause they never left and a few of them had doritos inside the transmission.
OMG it’s sad, how can someone leaves all those debris in there, no proud and consciousness for the job he did.
It's sad! Yeah
He’s just a poorly trained so-called mechanic. Lacking some common sense as well.
I do wonder what caused this trans to fail. A true mystery
@brendonrenken6811 the mystery has become a cold case 😆
Back in the day if a transmission was slipping they would put sawdust in the transmission, idk if that’s what that is but I bet someone attempted to duplicate the theory
You could always save yourself much money from rebuilding your own transmission. Tell me you don’t own a Ford? Lol
Your flag is up backwards. Star field goes to upper left looking at it.
$3500 + a sponge = $7000
That is called a shit mechanics job security!!!
Do you by chance have a link to somewhere I can find a loaded drum? I can find bare drums on eBay but cannot find anybody with new loaded drums. I’m not interested in a used drum as I would only be buying it in order to save on purchasing the OTC tool for disassembly. They are $450+ of you can even find one. If you do not know of a source for a new loaded drum, would you mind making a video of the assembly of the drum on your next 6f35 please? Common sense says “just put it together in reverse of disassembly”……..but 25yrs as a technician tells me there are probably tips and tricks to getting it all together again. I am trying to guide a friend along the way to rebuild his trans, but its those little tips and tricks I cant help him with as I used to only ever swap transmissions when i was a tech. As a Euro tech rebuilding them just was not in the scope at our dealers. Also, how much do you trust the ebay parts to fit and function properly in these transmissions? Thanks for any help you can provide. Great Video.
Thanks, glad to help. I just saw your comment 5 days late. I also cannot find a new loaded drum. Just used ones. I can build it if you mail it to me. I'm not sure when the next rebuild I'll get will come to record.

You can also bring the center support and direct drum to a dealer for rebuild
