    Why this car wasn’t just RWD in the first place will always be a mystery to me

      cost + honda. See the cost difference between the del sol and NSX and it will not longer be a mystery to you.

      @@zydomason this car could’ve been a MR2 competitor. I can’t imagine it would’ve taken away sales from the NSX the much if it just had a B16 in it. Light and nimble but the NSX would’ve been for real “power”

      Because it's a Civic...a CRX specifically, ppl seem to forget that. The Del Sol is essentially a CRX roadster.

    This is one of my dream ideas for my del sol but one thing I am concerned about is the handling, Sadly it's one of those things you cant really test before doing it so my other idea is K20 AWD, But there is just something special about a del sol mid engined rwd that just feels right.

    • @benniekerkhof
      @benniekerkhof  7 месяцев назад +1

      I'd go for the AWD setup haha far less work, everything is done already and you can buy everything. For a mid engine conversion there is much more work involved (think about cutting the chassis, coolant lines, fuel lines, fuel tank, braking system/bias, shifter linkage, wiring loom) and you need to think yourself about bumpsteer and handling and how to make everything work. If I would do it all over again, I'd go for a far more easy swap like an AWD conversion, mid engine is not worth the time and money or just buy an MR2 and kswap it

      @@benniekerkhof True true, I have tried to look for info on mid engine swaps on del sols and there is not that much info about it and it seems most people who start doing it gives up before it's even half way done. The AWD has been done so much that you can buy kits to fit drive shafts and differentials etc, I don't really understand suspension geometry and how to calculate it so it scares me to screw it up going the mid engine route when there is not that much info about it, All it takes is that one detail missed out on and then you are stuck.
      I could buy and mr2, Would love to have one but the Del Sol I just fell in love with I have spent more time and money on it than all my other cars combined, It's my first car that I am actually building on, Coilovers instead of cut springs etc etc no shortcuts or hack jobs😅
      Either way good job on your Sol, It is one of if not the most impressive Del Sol build I have seen it's also impressive to see that you still have it and didn't sell it off once it was built.
