All the performance you could ever sensibly use in 99.9% of driving, coupled with remarkable practicality considering that performance level. Pretty much sums up the 911 Turbo.
You see, if I have to chose between Urus or this, I’ll Go for the 911 997 Turbo. This car is still amazing after more than 10 years. I’m sure you have more pleasure by driving this with manual gearbox than an Urus.
This and the 997.2 Turbo and Turbo S is probably the most well rounded and timeless 911s ever made. The buildquality, torque and powerdelivery is unmatched in any other 911 to this day in my opinion. And iv driven pretty much all of the generations and models. My excitement is always the same when i get the chance to jump in a 997 Turbo. As soon i get the finances in order and my insurance is slightly under control im getting one. And it will be a good investment.
100% agree 0-100kmh in 3.7-3.9 depending on transmission and 190mph top end is fast no matter what era lol then there is the ease of tuning this thing into an absolute monster for a couple of grand
Nice car, i own a black 997.1 turbo tiptronic. Normally im a manual guy but im glad that i drove the tiptronic too before buying the manual, it surpriced me that i actually prevered the tiptronic more! This tiptronic just fits better for this kind of power, not to mantion its faster than the manual and more relaxed to drive in the city. For the racetrack the manual is better but i will drive it mostly in the city. Anyway you cant go wrong with neither of them. They are the last real 911 with the last real engine, get one while you can becouse prices will go up!!
I have one since 4 1/2 years now and i hope i wont ever be stupid enough to sell it. Even after that time it puts a smile on my face when ever i drive it. What it really needs is a sports exhaust, the best one is from M&M exhaust in germany. Stock exhaust is - as on all 911 turbos - boring. Aside from that its just perfect.
@@MsEdoxX I had my doubts as well. I was gonna say It was just a regular launch but then I saw that the driver click some button a few seconds before he launches It so I figured eh who knows. Thanks for the info.
Almost got a Turbo cabriolet (with a manual!) a few years ago. It was just *that* much outside what I could finance monthly. Still regret not finding a way to get it.
Is it possible to be free of the me, which produces all this chaos outwardly and inwardly? Can thought end so thought has no future? That which ends then has a totally different beginning not the beginning of the me, ending and picking up later.
Green plates in the Netherlands are special plates for import cars to drive to RDW (registration office), but car dealers also use them a lot for people that want to test drive their cars (kind of illegal, but it gets tolerated by the police/government).
I bought one of these, when they were new. It was a cabriolet with a manual gearbox, and I hated it! I should have bought a Tiptronic, or the facelift model with a PDK, couple of years later. And never a cabriolet, ever! I loved the idea of the car, but when it arrived, it was nothing but a big disappointment. In Porsche terms, of course. The funny thing is, that I'm actually looking for a coupe with a PDK right now to add to my small collection, but it's not that easy to find the right car.
I've driven a 997 c2 and a 996 c4s and they are a c o m p l e t l y different car than the 997 turbo. With that said I think the naturally aspirated cars are more fun off a highway
Imagine a 992 turbo with a manual gearbox. Damn, I feel like I need one of this =D This one sounds great btw, not like a standart turbo vacuum cleaner. What has been done to the exhaust?
Nothing has been done by the sounds of it, this was just from a time when they put way less shit in the exhaust for filtering and such that muffles the sound They can still be improved vastly yet, even though it sounds good here. Friend had one of this gen, had a custom exhaust made up for it and it sounded utterly insane!
@@nicwilson89 coming from a 997 turbo owner, the Car never Had a Lot of Sound. This one has as you can See in the beginning, a custom valve controlled exhaust

I have this one in diecast,it's so beautiful and an important turning point of the 911 history
Been lucky enough to drive one of these cars myself. Deffo the best car I’ve ever driven. So much grip and power!
