I am 52 years old and I just started playing tennis again after a 24 year hiatus. I have lost 35 pounds in 9 months from doing push ups, stretching, and jumping rope. I just got a slinger ball machine and I have been posting videos of myself practicing hitting off the ball machine. Great job on the video Coach. Thank you for posting this video my dude.

Awesome advice. I’d add one more: injury prevention -stretch before/after. Don’t push recovery

That's key. A lot of injuries are caused by a gradual build up of damage. Got to listen to your body and be very careful particularly with the high impact shots like the serve.

Great content as usual! I used to play tennis when I was younger and now I am starting to play again as my way of escaping stress from my work and just being a mom. I appreciate your comments about having fun and enjoying the game!

Improving my fitness helped my tennis game the most. I started rowing on the Erg, and jumping rope daily. I’m a better player than I was ten years ago.

Great advice. I totally agree especially the having fun part. Would add to the list - strengthen your legs. I started playing tennis at 12. Am 51 now. Stopped for more than 20 years and restarted 7 years ago. Am playing the best tennis of my life. I think I'd double-bagel my college day self. Am fitter now vs me from 1994 and have better techniques, tactics and more power. I just don't recover as quickly as before between games.

Pete- your passion is infectious. Your mentorship is invaluable. My goal is to overcome my injuries and recover with PT and shadow strokes until I can back on court. Be well

54 yo coming back after 2.5 years due to surgery followed by laziness. Really enjoying the process. Currently focusing on footwork/fitness (which is no easy feat after such a long break at my age) and technique/form using a ball machine to feed easy balls and keeping my feet moving between shots. I rally some with my 16 yo son but have no plan on playing any matches (even casual) for a few months because I want a strong foundation and would love proper movement and solid fundamentals to be more automatic…..as when you primarily play matches instead of practicing, bad habits tend to form imo.
