Even when my dentist friend takes his whole crew to Bangladesh to do unpaid dental work for people there, he pays his entire staff. Canada doesn't have and probably never will have free healthcare. I’m Canadian and lived in America for 2 years and experienced the complete opposite
Americans tend to romanticize how great their country is without looking at the many negative aspects while we Canadians tend to love our country but also bring up our many shortcomings and major issues especially the housing crisis and homelessness epidemic
Edit: I’m generalizing as there are many Americans that talk about the issues in their country and strive to make it a better place just as there are Canadians that think we are a perfect country but in general i feel the average Canadian is more introspective of our own issues than the average American

@@piggletimpact Please forgive me as I am about to air grievances. This is not towards you as a person but towards you and your countrymen as Canadians.
Anti-Americanism is baked into your culture. There are a couple of videos online about this very topic. There are videos of random Canadians being asked their opinions on Americans and most of the answers are negative. Meanwhile my countrymen love Canadians and Canada. A lot of them don't know a thing about you but still love you.
As for me, its funny. My maternal grandmother came to the United States from Ontario . According to her, her second cousin is Bobby Orr. I have heard her complain about this country for more than 20 years, despite living here since the early 70s. For the record, my after mentioned grandmother is the only part of my family that isn't a descendant of Calabrian immigrants.
Canadians should be proud of their country for it has done great things, but this constant one-upmanship with my country is pathetic. Americans don't consider being an American as not being Canadian. Then why is part of being Canadian not being an American. Even your response to me was a comparison between Canada and the United States.
When I say I'm proud to be an American, not once will I mention Canada. I am proud to be an American for many reasons, the technological advances Americans have made, our armed forces fighting for a better world, our mixed culture that allows people of talent and ambition to come to our country and our attitude that you can make something of yourself in this country.
No country is perfect and that includes my own but I do believe its the most important country on Earth right now. Bretton Woods changed how the world works and still Americans are talked negatively on. We give more foreign aid and donate the most to charity out of all the developed nations. We have given the most to Ukraine and there is no country that comes close. We were told not to be the world police but once Ukraine was invaded people said we weren't doing enough to support a non ally and criticized for stepping back from global politics.
You Canadians, and western Europeans look down on Americans, for being backwards, not providing enough social services, for not being safe enough or equal enough. But when the wolves are at your gates, who are you going to rely on? The Canadian military has a 3 day supply of ammo. Do most wars finish in 3 days? To answer the prior questions, you will rely on the American taxpayers and the American infantrymen to spend our tax dollars and spill their life's blood in defense of your country. Russia is on the warpath and China will probably join them soon. We have begged our NATO allies to get their military spending to 2% of GDP, and it took Russia invading Ukraine to get some but not all of European NATO to pump their military spending. Canada, with its new budget, doesn't even get to the required percentage.
Canada, as an ally, has consistently undermined the US in the most recent years. Did the United States ever invite and applaud a member of the Waffen SS to Congress? Did the United States ever leak it's own signal intelligence intentionally? The funny thing is, we gave you information about the Indian assassination network and Trudeau decided to make a public spectacle about it while there will still backroom negotiations ongoing. India's position hardened and it made it so much more difficult to deal with. We gave you that intelligence and you decided to go off the reservation with it. What about the NSICOP report? Fun fact, that info was given to the CSIS by the Five Eyes, or more specially, US signal intelligence. This info was known for almost a year and just this month was anything done and not much at that.
You guys are snakes and I could go on for probably another 5-7 paragraphs about Canada's repeated failures and shortcomings as a friend and ally of my country and to its own people. I'll limit it to two more. My people love your people and yet its not reciprocated. You constantly compare yourselves to the US but there is no comparison. Maybe you guys should cut yourselves off of American tech, including RUclips. Get rid of your Apple, Microsoft, Meta, Cisco, Google, Oracle, Salesforce, Alphabet and Intuit software and hardware. Airplanes, the internet, most of todays OS's, nuclear power and the fact that most wars today are NOT fought over resources are all a result of Americans. Maybe you guys should stop benefiting off it and start developing new tech.
To sum this up, Canada's childish attitude towards the United States is GROSSLY unfounded. I can go into the fact that your standard of living is not that great at the moment, or the weird Canadian view that Americans should pay attention to them when the only time they matter GEO-POLTICALLY is when they screw up, or that a lot of famous Canadian media involves a tyrannical USA impeding on Canadian rights or sovereignty. No Americans care about Canada enough to even think about it, let alone invade it. This is all the delusion conspiracies of Canadians that think the US is actively trying to influence your "culture".
Stop with your utterly pathetic mix of a superiority and inferiority combine and start thinking about what being a Canadian actually means without thinking about my nation.

@@TenOfTwenty you claim that you and your fellow Americans love Canada and Canadians only to call us snakes and leaches in the same comment then proceed to not only insult me personally but my people and my nation… that is a disgraceful insult from what most of us including myself consider our brothers to the south.
You also claim that Canadian superiority is baked into our culture which is a highly hypocritical statement coming from an American which is known to have the same damn issue
We compare ourselves to you because we are comparable! We are geographical neighbours with simpler culture (both positive and negative) and many shared citizens
The fact you think we should stop using so called “American advancement” because your butthurt is immature and just plain stupid.
If we play that game than you can stop wearing a parka in the winter or using alkaline batteries or kerosine I guess pacemakers are not an option anymore or insulin no more basketball either
Do you not see how stupid that is? This is how toddlers fight and should not be how we think of each other especially as such closely related nations
To be honest it seems you already had a negative option about us Canadians and you were just looking for someone to attack and all I have to say to you is
Get off your high horse and realize half the shit Canadians say about Americans are fucking jokes

You’re kinda proving her point. Canadians are pretty much some of the most nationally insecure people I’ve ever met. Many pretty much have the mentality that Canada has little to no problem and if you discuss any with them they will instantly pivot to either a tu quoque (if your American) or red herring (if you’re not American) of “But America has ____ problem!”
Another thing they will do is that they will often ignore issues such as them being almost completely geopolitically dependent on ten USA (and to a lesser degree Britain), their serious need of a robust bill of rights protecting things like freedom of speech, their lack of knowledge of (or minimization to flat out denial of) the simply horrific things done to the native populations in Canada by Canadians, and some serious trade and economic issues such as how each Canadian territory trades more with America then they do with each other.
Essentially many Canadians seem to act like an insecure younger sibling who resents his older more successful brother, and tries to have a holier art then thou attitude, all the while secretly knowing that said older brother is also the only reason he is relevant and protected. While I’m not saying this is true of all Canadians by a long shot I’d say that this completely unfounded mix arrogance, insecurity and resentment runs deep in many.
