The 7,5 joules variant seems to be woefully underpowered. In Romania I bought the 40 joules version and with 6,8 grams rubber balls goes through 10 cm/4 inches of pork lean meat. Also, it hits a 2,5 cm / inch pork bacon so hard that the ball bounces back when it reaches the thick pork skin. I shot a frozen pork rib and did a nice dent in it, but without perforation. A new ceramic roof tile is broken from the first shot, provided that the 88 gram CO2 bottle is fresh. This HDX-68 in the maxed 40 joule version is definitely a match for what the police is packing for riot control.

aMany thanks for the review. What if you shoot savagecriminal with some pepperballs , the charge the perp with the barrel and hit him as much as possible until he passes out. It doubles as a blunt force weapon too. Worth buying this.
Great video. That launcher is certainly beastly looking. It remains to be seen what level of power it is capable of. I think the internals of it are quite complicated compared to some of the other large Umarex models. Be safe from that scary sounding hurricane coming toward FL. My wife and daughter are flying back from Italy today just in time for the hurricane. Sad to hear you will have to find another alley. I will miss my GA house basement range when the day comes that I retire to FL permanently.
Oh man, I hope my man Troy will be up to the task! I’ve yet to ask him, but I’m strongly confident he can turn it into a 40j without too much effort! But let me check with him first hahaha Less-lethal for dummies is getting pretty close him self! Damn, sorry to hear - best thing would’ve been YOU joining THEM in Italy during the hurricane! I actually filmed the video for next week already and posted it for Sunday - as I’ll be chasing that thing to wherever it makes landfall. It’s gonna be a long and wet week! (And you guys might get some of it in GA if it keeps this current track) Hey if you loose your basement and move to FL we can join forces and become Scaredy Cat Alley !!
Be safe this week. GA is the worst with any storm. Atlanta is mostly pine forest with huge trees that topple power lines. I wish I could have went on the trip with the family but grant deadline in the way.
Like always great video. I was patiently waiting for the HDX 68. But you must speak to Troyz Toyz. I'm also sorry you have to move during these economic times. Stay positive, change is for the best. God bless you and your family.
Thank you so much and all the same to you and your family! I’m sure we’ll find something - I wouldn’t mind a garage actually. That could be a nice upgrade. No more fighting with extreme weather, neighbors and noises…. As you said it may be a positive thing. We shall see! I’m calling Troy tonight! 😁🤞🏽💪🏼
I find you can load these much quicker by unscrewing the magazine cap, removing the follower spring and follower. Drop in 16 balls and reverse the process.
Thanks for the video. It there any risk of damaging your barrel or airguns using these aluminum. 68 caliber rounds? Thanks in advance for your input. Stay safe and healthy. Peace
Hello my friend! I would say no. Of course these are paintball launchers, so the most ideal ammo is always the softer one. But… the aluminum balls are the “softest” and lightest metal projectiles out there. I consider them very safe :) Have fun!!
@@AirgunAlley Thanks. Appreciate your input I've ordered twenty four.68 caliber round aluminum balls to test out. I want to see what they'll do in my Byrna Mission 4. (Smile)
It seems you ignore (?) the .43 T4Es. Why is that? With a smaller diameter the trajectory will be better, right? A rat, a bad pigeon or a very bad jackrabbit might be easily killed from 40ft (12m) away. Or not?
Haha no I’m not ignoring the 43 cals - I just never got around owning one. Yet. Personally, I’m in it more for the coconuts and if needed, to use against the skull of a home aggressor. Any T4E (minus the HDS 68) can do a lot of damage, if fully modified. Distance however is its soft spot. They are definitely short range guns, especially with heavier slugs
Alright mate . Gotta say you've got a very interesting job travelling around everywhere .if you keep your trigger down after your first shot you can rapid fire it using the pump action don't know if you know👍 really do need to get one gonna start saving my pennies 😂 as always keep up the good work
Stuart!!! Really?? I didn’t know mate!! Thanks for the tip! Will try pump action shooting next time! Save up buddy! Hopefully Umarex won’t come out with a new gun for at least another 6 months. Gives you time to buy this one! Thank you as always mate!
Dude with how talented you are at doing these vids and editing but you should create a new channel that’s devoted to real pew pews imo your right up there with demo ranch and Kentucky ballistics what I’m saying is you’ve got the talent to make some serious money doing what you do

i would like to see one shot at 700 to 1000 fps. You would have something to protect yourself with for sure. Then again at the same price you can buy a old 590 or 870 shotgun witch is far better for the house.
According to their website 11 joules these are the Specifications I got from the web, cool gun but I just spent a bunch of money on a pepper ball TCP so it's going to have to wait wish they just sold it in the 40 joules version rather than having to find someone to convert it. Hey man! Yes - I actually need to let them know that it’s not the 11j, but the 7,5j. Absolutely - I’d also wait for the 40joules to come out. If it’ll come out 🤞🏽
So I started watching this channel some time ago and I am enjoying it. I am a caretaker at a freeway rest area and cannot own a firearm. I thought of getting the Byrna HD then I started watching these videos . Now I don't know what to get. I just watched the latest video with the aluminum balls and the HDR 50... impressive. I don't know what direction to go now. Any suggestions?
Hi John, thanks you for watching my videos! In my opinion, I would stick to your plan. I’ve yet to try the Byrna guns, but they are the ones trusted by law enforcement in the US and designed purely for that purpose (while the HDR50 remains a paintball gun). That said, the T4E line - as you see in my videos - is indeed impressive and keeps getting better. But perhaps I recommend them as a second choice….
GREAT VIDEO ...BUT...Why does no-one ever test for grouping. with your detail I really thought you would do it. Its not an accuracy weapon we know that, BUT really what is the grouping at 10, 20 30 ft? I live in the UK and everyone is weapon scared even air rifles. Just one review on grouping and power at range. Over 30 ft probably irrelevent. Still would be great if you can do an accuracy vid not sure why no-one does.
Hey Peter, you make a very good point and I'll make sure to do more accuracy tests! My filming environment will be changing as I'm moving at the end of the month. I'll have a complete new set up, again I'll make sure to have it properly made for testing groupings from a distance. Again thank you!
@@AirgunAlley Hi That would be great. I brought mine to a place in the country to test myself. However, the neighbours would get stirred up at the sound of it. This is the UK people have such a stigma to even airguns, laws too. I live in hope, one day I will be somewhere I can do all the tests myself.
Hey John, thanks for the request. I don’t have the HDP 50 at the moment, unfortunately. I’ll see what I can do once I get one. Thanks again and I hope you’ll keep enjoying my videos!
@@AirgunAlley one question...there is a company here in Germany (i am not in any way affiliated with them or get anything for it) that makes some really interesting slugs for the HDR50/68 and HDS. If you are interested in testing them, I'd send you some. Over here in Germany I can unfortunately not try them with full power, because of our gun laws restricting all free obtainable weapons to 7.5joule.
I wasn’t able to find anything 68 caliber on Amazon, other than these! I know Homedefense24 sells them, but I haven’t compared the total cost difference yet! I actually have a box of homedefense24 68 cal steel balls - so we’ll soon se the difference in quality and price… If you have links to cheap 68 cal steel balls, please send them over - I’m always interested :)

I actually wouldn’t mind a nice garage. That way I’m not dependent on the extreme Florida elements and it would definitely improve my video production… let’s see! Thanks again my dear friend
If you ever want to now if your gun is 7 joules or less, look for a letter "F" stamped in a pentagon shape stamped on your gun, This has to do with E,U. laws where they are limited to lower FPS, and lower joules. I noticed your gun had the "F" stamp on it, and I knew right away it was the 7 joules version.
Hi Earl, you’re right - this is generally the case. However in the US you can easily find factory bodies 7,5j bodies (with the F) but with bigger valves installed in them. Directly from the store. Not sold as modifications, but as factory releases. For example the HDR 68 (16 joules) here in the US has an F on it. So the “F” rule is not necessarily universal
Spot on man! I just yesterday sent an email to Umarex who answered that they’re not out in the US yet, but my name is on their list 🤞🏽🤞🏽 It’ll be orange and black though…
@@AirgunAlley orange and black for obvious reasons... But say someone had the black model and than took apart the orange and black model replacing all the internals for the orange and black model... Could work 😉 For cool to hear that you're getting one though
Er - your "Steel" Balls are very self-evidently Aluminium. A 0.68" sphere weighing in at 7.3g has a density of about 2.7 g/cm3 - which is exactly the density of Aluminium! ?- CM is 0.68 * 2.54, R is CM / 2, V is 4/3 * pi(R^3), D is 7.3 / V . CM = 1.7272 R = 0.8636 V = 2.697904113411096 D = 2.705804095746843
It really depends on the distance. Skinwise, a pointy projectile would most definitely, while a round one will give a hell of a bruise . 40j is a lot of power
Hey Jim, that’s a great question! It’s funny how every social media has its own systems. RUclips is one of the only ones that completely disregards the “likes” - especially in the long format, horizontal videos (not the “shorts”). Meaning that they base remuneration and generally the “success” of a video on the number of views and not likes. Even the subs count less and less nowadays. So I noticed that in my case, like in many cases, likes are around 5% of the total views… but the most important thing is that RUclips’s payment is based on the views and not likes, like other brands. Hope this answers a bit and thanks for asking!
Hey so sorry for the late reply. I think the HDX is a bit more solid than the HDB. Plastic vs metal. That said. The pump action is a lot of work. You have to pump it before each shot. If you live in a country where you can buy the 40 joules version, then I would go with the HDX 68. Modifying the HDB however is easier than modifying the HDX. They are both very fun! So, it’s hard to say which is better :) I hope my input is somewhat helpful!
Hello my friend, great question and sorry for being ignorant on the matter. I think for the HDX it’s a much more complicated procedure and I’m not entirely sure it’s possible. Try shooting this question to Rune Rebel on his channel. He’s the maestro at this stuff :)

There is! I’ve been wanting to test that one for a long time! It’s def top of the line when it comes to less lethal! Thanks for your input my friend!
aMany thanks for the review. What if you shoot savagecriminal with some pepperballs , the charge the perp with the barrel and hit him as much as possible until he passes out. It doubles as a blunt force weapon too. Worth buying this.
Hey man thanks a lot! And absolutely, well said
Great video.
But let me check with him first hahaha
Less-lethal for dummies is getting pretty close him self!
Damn, sorry to hear - best thing would’ve been YOU joining THEM in Italy during the hurricane!
I actually filmed the video for next week already and posted it for Sunday - as I’ll be chasing that thing to wherever it makes landfall. It’s gonna be a long and wet week! (And you guys might get some of it in GA if it keeps this current track)
Hey if you loose your basement and move to FL we can join forces and become Scaredy Cat Alley !!
You can also use an 88/90g CO2 cylinder
Can you, on this version? 🤔 that would be something!
Well great vidio.Gun price for power not on par but cool but at this stage toy level.love the work place.b safe bro....
Thanks Joe! Not thinking of getting one yet?
I find you can load these much quicker by unscrewing the magazine cap, removing the follower spring and follower. Drop in 16 balls and reverse the process.
Haha good one! 👍🏽
They should start making powerful hpa versions of these!
Yess!! 🙌🏼
Thanks for the video.
It there any risk of damaging your barrel or
airguns using these aluminum.
I consider them very safe :)
Have fun!!
@@AirgunAlley
Thanks.
Appreciate your input
I've ordered twenty four.68 caliber round aluminum balls to test out.
I want to see what they'll do in my Byrna Mission 4. (Smile)
That thing looks awesome!
It does!! 😎
Awesome video
Thank you so much!!
Why would I subscribe if i already clicked on it once and know it will never stop being suggested?
One of the basic reasons is to help out content creators who work very hard to make the best videos they can, for their audience
Safe to assume this can only shoot balls and not a D shape or something like Devastators?
Sadly, Eric. Sadly.
Cool video. The 40j version here in RSA has no pic on the box.
Oh man! I wish I had that one! I would trade the picture on the box in a split sec 😂😂
Thanks a lot my friend!!
Great video, I would like to see the 16 Jewel, 40 Jewel modification on this rifle. Rifle that should be awesome.
Me too!! Hope to have it modified soon 🤞🏽
And thank you very much my friend!
Great video. You convinced me to get one. Thanks for the code!
Awesome! You’re going to love it. Which power did you get?
I went with the 16 joules version for now but I definitely have my eye on that 40.
MCSUS also has a 40joul power kit for it. Has anyone tried it?

@@AirgunAlley heck yes I’d love to be your agent :) if you’d be up for coming to Nebraska I’ve got a couple few that would be prime for reviews I’d do it myself but plainly spoken I get camera anxiety but the offer always stands but in the meantime I love watching what you put out there and so far I’ve got 2 launchers that I’ve purchased because of your channel and they’re great fun in time these will become more popular but (professional) gun tubers are makings some serious dough just by going out in the country and plinking away no matter what u decide keep it up!!!!!
A request: Use a 3/4" pine board as a target when you use the steel bearings.
Ok! I actually shot a wood door yesterday with those, using my HDR 68 30 joules. The door won, actually. Small denting only. Have a look on Sunday.
I’ll try it my friend, after the hurricane we’ll have boards of all sizes everywhere…. I’ll look for a 3/4

i would like to see one shot at 700 to 1000 fps. You would have something to protect yourself with for sure. Then again at the same price you can buy a old 590 or 870 shotgun witch is far better for the house.
Hey Jason, you’re very right. But keep in mind that these are thought mostly for countries that don’t allow firearms…
Back in the ally with my boy!
According to their website 11 joules these are the Specifications I got from the web, cool gun but I just spent a bunch of money on a pepper ball TCP so it's going to have to wait wish they just sold it in the 40 joules version rather than having to find someone to convert it.

Funny MCS clearly says there's is 11 joules but from your results it is clearly more like 7 they need to fix their description
Yes they got it wrong on the website - I must tell them tomorrow… 🙌🏼
this is why i hate renting , ownership is the goal always. especially if you have kids.
Yeah, I mean why anyone wouldn't choose a free house gifted to them and their family instead of renting one? 🤪🤪🤪

Suggestion: put silicone lube on tip of each CO2 cylinder.
Thanks for this. Luckily it’s something I do and suggest doing in most of my videos. Good input indeed Sandy
HI AAM do you have an update modification of your HDX68
Nothing my friend :(
I nice piece of equipment but you have to get the 16J or 40 J to be of value.Thanks.
I can't wait to see the 40J with the super Italian rds.
100% agreed!
Is there a video that show how to increase to 40 Joules?
I don’t know if that’s even possible with this gun. The internal mechanics are very different…
Do you think you could do a comparison video on the HDP 50 with the valve block removed vs stock form? Apparently it doubles the power for free?????
Hey John, thanks for the request. I don’t have the HDP 50 at the moment, unfortunately. I’ll see what I can do once I get one. Thanks again and I hope you’ll keep enjoying my videos!
Hi, it would be cool to see what the old SG68 or RAP4 RAM68 can do. You wouldnt happen to have a maxed out version?
I wish man! Hopefully one day I’ll be able to test guns that are sent to me directly from shops/factories. For now I’m still at the ammo level :)
So, I was wondering. can the Umarex hdx 68 shoot shaped. ammo like the Grimberg HP 68 or devastates. Since you have one you should know.
Hello Uncle Sam, sadly I bring bad new: balls only for the HDX 68…

@@AirgunAlley Good points! Thank you!
Do you think it can be compatible with the compressed air bottle used on the mcx and mpx?
That’s a great question! I honestly have no idea - but I sure hope someone will be able to answer asap
@@AirgunAlley Im no expert, but since those air rifles use 88 gram co2 and can use the pcp tanks, it isn't a bad idea

Did Umarex give a timeframe for when they might be out in the US?
Er - your "Steel" Balls are very self-evidently Aluminium. A 0.68" sphere weighing in at 7.3g has a density of about 2.7 g/cm3 - which is exactly the density of Aluminium!
?- CM is 0.68 * 2.54, R is CM / 2, V is 4/3 * pi(R^3), D is 7.3 / V .
CM = 1.7272
R = 0.8636
V = 2.697904113411096
D = 2.705804095746843
Hello shopping Italia thanks
Ciao! Sempre un piacere!
Do you tjink 40j goes through skin?
It really depends on the distance. Skinwise, a pointy projectile would most definitely, while a round one will give a hell of a bruise . 40j is a lot of power
Would love to see the 40 joules one day 😅 have you already been able to modify it?
No I don’t think it’s possible with this one. I may be wrong, I just haven’t heard of anyone that did it. I can’t wait for it to come out though!
@@AirgunAlley well😅we’ll see would be nice for sure
Dunno if you care but how do you have 29k subs, 22k views, and only 600+ likes? Are "they" messing with your LIKES?
Hey Jim, that’s a great question! It’s funny how every social media has its own systems. RUclips is one of the only ones that completely disregards the “likes” - especially in the long format, horizontal videos (not the “shorts”).
Meaning that they base remuneration and generally the “success” of a video on the number of views and not likes.
Even the subs count less and less nowadays.
So I noticed that in my case, like in many cases, likes are around 5% of the total views… but the most important thing is that RUclips’s payment is based on the views and not likes, like other brands. Hope this answers a bit and thanks for asking!
Salut my Friends sais tu comment le débrider stp

can the Umarex T4E HDB ShotGun Take a 88Gram Co2 or just the 68 ShotGun and witch one is better.....? and which one is better for home defense
If you can get your hands on the 40 joules version than I would undoubtably say this one!
I thought the HDX t4e was 40 jewels it can push about 500
what do you think is better the atomatic shotgun or the HDX 68. PLZ PLZ PLZ tell me :SD
i want to know so i can buy one
Hey so sorry for the late reply. I think the HDX is a bit more solid than the HDB. Plastic vs metal. That said. The pump action is a lot of work. You have to pump it before each shot.
If you live in a country where you can buy the 40 joules version, then I would go with the HDX 68. Modifying the HDB however is easier than modifying the HDX. They are both very fun!
So, it’s hard to say which is better :) I hope my input is somewhat helpful!
So they're both pretty powerful and good for home defense
Not everyone is rich
By chance do you know anyone who can mod it to 40 joules?
Hello my friend, great question and sorry for being ignorant on the matter. I think for the HDX it’s a much more complicated procedure and I’m not entirely sure it’s possible. Try shooting this question to Rune Rebel on his channel. He’s the maestro at this stuff :)
