This was the song that was playing as he was passing away, the second the song ended he passed away then afterward Shelter (Piano Version) started playing and it made me realize he was at peace. This song will always remind me of him. You were the best dog. Meeting you at 7 years old and getting you was the happiest day of my life, you were by my side through everything. Even 2 years ago when I tried to commit suicide you woke me up after I passed out. You were there when I wrote my first song. You were there when I fell in love with Zelda and Half-Life. You were there for everything. Banks, I know you’re gone now but I know your soul is somewhere better. You will always live in my heart. I will never forget you. I hope we meet again someday my brother.

It has to do with the innate ability to recognise and understand melody without any sort of formal training, which is not by any means some sort of elitist thing, it just happens to be something some people are born with, whilst some are able to develop their understanding over time, and sadly there are those who are simply unable to ever truly understand music due to a genetic predisposition.

I discovered porter via an Undertale animation, then i listened to the full song, forgot about him, and in early 2017 i rediscovered his music. Now he's one of my favourites :D
I discovered the anime music video from "Shelter" randomly at the end of my first psychedelic trip. Deeply moved me. Since then I have a strong emotional connection to various works of his.
