Great audio, several power settings and extremely durable. Another great radio from Icom. I love their handhelds. I have an older Icom 32 AT that I bought 32 years ago. Still works great even after the radio and myself crashed into river rocks during a fishing trip years ago. Icom knows how to make durable radio's and does so. Nice review !!!!!!! Well done!!!!!!
Its because they are not modded out of the Box and not just a SHTF Rig. Tight front end. Sensitive Receiver and Clean on a Band Scope. No Spurs and Great xmit Audio with Menu Adjustments.
I heard from some ham radio users that the V80 has much better RX selectivity than the V86. The V86 is a bit deaf and desensitized unlike the V80 which has a better front end, though the speaker of the V86 is more louder than the V80 and more TX power bur with a compromise as stated earlier.
Mainly because I am an affiliate of amazon and any purchase made through my links goes to help the channel. Whereas through like HRO they don’t have affiliate programs
I don’t think that Icom makes a dual band ht that is not DStar, at east I couldn’t find one on hamradio.com. Here is a good Kenwood one though Kenwood TH-D72A Dual Band HT Overview
@@Everythinghamradio I’m a new ham , could you please recommend a HT that does Digital ? I’m visiting my HRO in Phoenix this coming Tuesday thanks JK7ZTI
Again depends on your Terrain. Avg. Two Miles point to point. About 10mi. To repeater with stock Ant. Get a 1/2 Wave Whip and nearly Double the numbers. BNC Connectors on these are Good not fragile Like the Sma's
You claim it weighs 1.77 pounds (light weight?!). According to ICOM: Weight (Approximate) 300 g, 10.6 oz (with BP-298, FA-B57V). Where are you getting this 1.77 pounds? Did you actually weigh it?

Hello do you know how is the mode when iperate v86 with external PTT. I am transmiting, but cant hear on the microphone
The only thing that Icom dropped the ball with on the V86 was the omission of the Tx/Rx indicator light. I would like to modify mine for Mars use
Yea I like the Tx/rx lights as well.
Why does most people say buy from Amazon? HRO has it for $128.95.. Most ham radio stores are cheaper than Amazon. Great video.

@@Everythinghamradio Amazon is evil
It has a Direct Conversion Receiver, not the Double Superhet Design the IC-T70 and IC-V80 used.
Hey what radio is similar to this except its dual band uhf vhf?

How far is the range with standard antenna?
With a hand held, you would probably get about 5 miles simplex, with using a repeater, it depends on the repeater

What about ic-u86?
Not for sale in the United States (don't know why), and it's super scarce in Europe
