I have seen her live in Bochum on 8 December, she was even better than on this studio version. It was a wonderful concert and Oh Holy Night was my favourite.

Thank you a lot for the reaction. I will hear this live in Ostrava, Czech Republic, in three days. I cannot wait. No one will get this song out of my top 10. I even listen to her Dark Christmas album during my workout 😆 I love Tarja's creativity and the boldness with which she transforms and creates music.
BTW: Tarja let her daughter and her friends choose the songs by playing different Christmas songs for them as she drove them to school because she and her neighbors take turns driving the kids to school.
So happy for you ❤❤❤ seeing a Christmas concert (or a classical one) from her is a dream of mine. She only comes to Brazil with rock shows. But I am grateful she's bringing Marko with her next year.

Tarja's voice on this song is amazing. One of my favorites on this album. I can't listen to the original song anymore. The dark times surrounding the birth of Jesus really comes out in this song. ❤❤❤❤
The magnificence of the Aurora, Finland is a great place to see it, especially reflected in the water.
(They are slow moving, that was time-lapse, sped up), but Tarja using her arms and hands!

Lovely to hear her matured voice, more careful, controlled, wonderful.
The Holy Night was not all good, there was a significant overhanging threat.

I was surprised to hear you say Tarja's version was your most favorite version of O Holy Night or Christmas song. Tarja was a good singer for Nightwish, but she shouldn't have presented one of the most beautiful hymns praising Jesus Christ in such a gloomy, dark fashion. I follow Nightwish and ither Metal Bands, but in my opinion, it sounded sacrilegious. There's a place and time for Metal.
I think Tarja handled this song beautifully. It builds tension from the anticipation of the arrival of something significant. I don't see anything in this version that detracts from it.
I agree with Petra. Tarja makes the lyrics really stand out and the orchestration gives you that sense of a momentous event happening, an outburst of light and beauty and faith contrasting with the uncertainty and the darkness that preceded. Tarja's singing is beautiful and emotional and powerful, and gives a new dimension to the song. Nothing sacrilegious here, on the contrary, a true homage. Perhaps you should try listening to the song a few more times without the visuals and just feel it.
