Great stuff! We've always been a car-free family, which is only possible here in Canada because we chose our neighborhood carefully. If our cities were more transit and cycling oriented, as we have seen by living in Europe and Japan, so many more people would be able to make the transition to a car-lite or car-free lifestyle and our streets would be much more pleasant.

In my community we have the saying: In the past having a car was a privilege for being able to drive fast. Today it is a privilege and luxury not to have to go fast and be in a hurry. Slow down, take the bike!
That's a great question! I wish I had an answer but I think it's complicated. Now we know that there "is" a problem, so we can start looking for solutions!
what about pedestrians? Where are people walking without getting run over by displaced drivers riding bikes just as impatient riding bikes on the sidewalk?
