  • I'm answering your questions on coping with chemotherapy and the nausea that often goes with it. I am a strong believer that my specific diet during chemo really helped with side effects. And sticking to an exercise plan with the simple baseline of just getting outside every day definitely helped my mood. And finally, why does even water taste so horrible while on chemo?

Great insights. I was given 3 months to live in feb 2017 with stage 4 lung cancer. Today I am happily tumourfreetim. I had four medical treatments radiation therapy, chemotherapy and most importantly medical cannabis and immunotherapy. In addition to that I adopted 39 diet and lifestyle changes that I felt then boosted my immune system. So your observations are a great help and confirm many of the things I adopted. No matter what treatment you get it is so vital to start living and eating well.

God bless you I’m in the middle of my treatment. It’s awful but I’m determined to complete it. My hair fell out already and the taste buds are gone it’s the worst part . I love food . And right before I get a new treatment it comes back . Food tastes great again then starts all over again .So frustrating.

Joan's advice for the eating regimen sounds workable during that in-between period. I think I may try that. Can't believe she exercised during chemo, I am 73 years old I'm lucky to get out of a chair without help.

@@RVGrannyWA About being able to exercise; I truly think it has a lot to do with your general state of health at the beginning of chemo, ..but even much more importantly, it has to do with the chemo drugs that you are administered. I had Stage 3 Triple Negative breast cancer and was put on 4 rounds of VERY aggressive chemo drugs. Three different kinds and all of them at HIGH dosages! Developed Severe blood sepsis and was hospitalised with my neutrophils almost at ground ZERO, so of course experienced a very weakened immune system. So Happy to say that even though I came very close to going into Septic Shock, finally with strong intravenous antibiotics, my white blood cells started to multiply and I was in the safety-zone and no longer had to be quarantined! Never, ever got THAT level of Sick Again!...(coz One of the drugs in the "chemo-cocktail" that I was prescribed was immediately Eliminated!)
Wanted to add that even though I did 12 rounds of Taxol after my double-mastectomy, I never really felt very ill at all on that particular chemo drug. (Of course I only had the Taxol by itself, and the dosage was very low!)
So Nope!, No way in Hell could I have exercised on Aggressive Chemo!.....(But with the Taxol drug, after I'd recovered from my surgery, ...yeah, I was exercising and able to do all my personal care and daily chores without any assistance!)

I've gone 7 months now with no grains, processed foods and sugar...very minimal dairy. Down 22 lbs, reversed kidney failure from stage stage 3 to stage 2, off two high bp meds and statin drugs.
Eating healthy fats is good for you, but sugar is not, it causes inflammation.

My mother who went 65 years without having a mammogram and didn't believe in doctors. At 65 years old she found out she has stage 2 a breast cancer...She just received her 1st dose...She is positive and as her daughter I'm a mess, and cannot stop crying....When I look at her I cry. Breast Cancer is aweful and this is only the 1st dose. When her hair falls out I'm going to be devastated.....Any tips re: her hair. I know she isn't showering because she is afraid it will fall out..,

I found that having my daughter cut my long hair to chin length helped because when it did fall out it didn’t look like my hair.
A few weeks later I asked her to shave it off & it was strangely liberating & so much easier to have a shower.
    I hope this helps.🕊

I just cut my hair fairly short. I'll wait and see when i start chemo if it starts to fall out then I'll cut it all off.
