I actually have one unit of this player. It suited my mercedes w124 however the only complain is when using the apple carplay, let say using the map together with spotify, it will lag.. maybe due to the processor is small. Other than that, it works fine and yes the screen is small but for that price, u cant find other player like that
I also have a 124, I think Im gonna go with the Power acoustik single din carplay unit. I bought a Joying 10.1 and it fits nicely but looks way too big
Surely you have played the lottery due to the bad experiences of some users, when purchasing a model like this one that has a higher 5188W, with the novelty that Android auto and carplay are Wireless, In addition to being able to use it with cable. I bought it on Aliexpress and when I have it installed I will comment on my experience. Thanks for the video. I purchased it at a very affordable price with the discount coupons and for 38€, European currency, it is an attractive investment. It doesn't reach $42 or £33
Bought the Ali express one and the Audio isn’t great and I don’t know if I need a amplifier but I love my music so I might go back to my pioneer from 2010 😓
That is an amazing price for everything that you get. I've been thinking about a single DIN unit for my beater car only because I can't fit a double DIN or a single with a 7" screen. You've given me something to consider.
@@paulbradford5692 I bought two different brands, but similar units on Amazon and they were both crap. I ended up buying an A-AINavi single DIN with a detachable 10" screen and it is awesome, I actually like it better than my Atoto.
I do like the physical form factor, but leaves the screen a little small. I'm hunting through your videos to try and find one for a VW Up... Looks like a floating screen is going to be the way to go, but this could look good too.....
The competitive alternative would be to do a regular head-unit with high audio quality for $40-$60, and a nicer phone mount. The phone is less glitchy and laggy, safer on the road. Plus the phone mount could be in a more logical position to be less distractive. A regular radio would have more dials that are tactile and require less looking = safer. The other alternative backup cameras now can connect to your phone, or alternatively a digital center mirror. So is this unit worth it? maybe probably not. These cheap touchscreens last typically like a year....
Yeah the Power-Acoustic CP-71 looks great & would absolutely suit my needs down to a tee. However; as it’s a Walmart exclusive; unless you know someone in the US that’s willing to ship it for you, it’s a no go for those not in the US such a shame as it’s a great single din unit.
hey, really appreciate the in-depth review. you’re the only one i’ve found that’s actually given a good review of this device. i had a question about the carplay. if i install this unit, and then install a wireless carplay device/receiver into the cigarette lighter of my car, would wireless apple carplay work? would really appreciate if you could fine an answer for me :)
Thanks for the review. Another question: does apple carplay work when plugged in to the upper usb-c (i.e., can you use apple carplay while charging your phone)?
would be awesome if you could review the unbranded (jansite, srnubi, develuck, etc) 1DIN "T10 / T10Plus", which seems to be the beefy version of the 1DIN "T3". its very hard to find good head units with actual 1DIN screens like this roinvou.
I had it in a 86 Mercedes 560sl. Used apple car play regularly and it lagged all the time. It was annoying. It would skip during a song or if the gps was guiding and musing playing with apple car play it would freeze sometimes. I think the processor wasn’t good enough.
I've had this unit for a year and 2 months and the touch screen just went black. And does not function anymore. I can still connect my phone via Bluetooth to play music and even with a USB cable using Android Auto and it works as well but you see nothing on the screen. Just wondering if anyone else has had this same issue with this model and if they knew of a workaround to get the screen to work again. It's a great little unit or at least it was a great little unit until this blank screen issue just occurred.
Install manual page 7 says to "connect the reversing cable". What is the reversing cable, and to what is it connected? I am not installing the reversing camera. Is this the pink wire labeled parking sensor control line?
Would it benefit from a quality amp, or does the cheap source make that non-beneficial? This unit is perfect for a classic car where we hide the head units in the glove box. Trouble is the car has quality speakers, so I'm hesitant to add a low quality source. Thank you!
i have the same unit, and i love the sound. no complains. - my menus look quite different, and i have never connected a phone using wires. Did you not realize, that this is ment to be bluetooth connected?
@@SaabUnleashed oh... damn the chinese copycat industry confuses the hell out of me. i wish one could rely on something or some consistency there. My radio is a nice product - it deserves to come out of the shadows, get a real brand name attached to it. I guess it violates too many patents for that.
I bought one of these and it’s awful. In the car, CarPlay rarely works, the radio reception is awful and the UI is really hard to see and use when you are driving around. I’m going to bin my unit and get something else. A wee bit gutted as this really suited my need. I like the idea that I could have a single din CarPlay unit that is less attractive to thieves. Hopefully another company will take this idea and execute it better.
Can you comment on the transition in sound quality between FM and Bluetooth? I noticed in some of these cheaper Amazon units, the unit won't equalize the different inputs, so you need to change the equalizer every time you toggle between inputs, if you want to get comparable sound. Is that true with this unit?
@@SaabUnleashed thanks for the quick reply! Love your videos. I have never changed a car stereo before and looking to change it on my new to me 2005 Seat Leon Cupra R. Just don't want to mess it up!
G’day mate! I’ve noticed a lot of these affordable units have the ISO connection into the base of the unit. I have a ISO harness that connects to my factory loom. I would usually then plug this into another Sony, pioneer specific power cord with an ISO connection on the end. But with these can I just plug my ISO harness directly into the unit and bypass the power and speaker cords that come with the unit? Cheers!
Do not buy this Unit. the Sound quality is bad and the small screen only works good in the dark winter. in summer its to dark even with high gamma. the carplay feels like a gimmick, and is not very useable.
The problem with this cheaply manufactured crap is that it's exactly that - cheap crap. They usually only last a few months before something blows on them.

Is there a single din unit that has better sound with the volume knob along with apple car play?

porsche classic has a single din car play headunit but it is $1200
Cracking review. Just about to pick up an old Crossfire with a single din head unit and want to put Android Auto in. Might end up going this route
its worth it. i just ordered a 2nd one for my other car.

If you're on a budget this is perfect, for $60 that's feature rich and a camera. Not bad at all.

I own a tab s4 but I'm too spoiled by reverse camera, i wonder if theres an rear view input for phones or tabs.
You don’t get a ticket for dicking with your radio. But you do for looking touching your phone
You made my day by the Saab color shout out
More Single Din like this please! People in the US have gone crazy over one in Walmart (Power Acoustik CP-71) but we can't get it here in the UK :(

Great review Can you add a dab stick to this also can you change the software launcher
No to both, because this is not an Android head unit
It has those markings because you never took the screen protector off.
Is that right? You have taking it off

I doubt that is rectifiable, sounds like a hardware failure. Probably best to replace it
