It looks like a Happy Meal toy, and no, it doesn’t have to do with the style of the character in the movie. They should’ve at least painted the webbing, but no, plastic looks cheap, painting looks cheap and it looks unfinished
Well me, personally, I absolutely love it when a figure has both a neck hinge and upper diaphragm+ab crunch combo because it's an absolutely great way to just totally skip out on a figure. Thank you Hasbro.
I'm the opposite, I prefer a normal ab crunch and waist swivel. It just feels more natural to me. But I wouldn't mind an upper diaphragm joint + Ab Crunch + Waist Swivel.
When I was a Kid I remember being sad for the lack of regular spiderman suit figures. Now we have like a couple of them every year and they all kinda suck
Hello Anthony, thank you for the review. A thing I wanted to point out is that Hasbro has released for the first movie a peter b parker which shares the upper body with this figure. That figure has (for the first time in ML history) a ball peg in the lower torso. This means Hasbro had the mold to give us a new Peter B parker (full suited) and instead decided to release another one with pants on last year and than made a completely new (and bad) lower torso with this figure. And it's not even the main Perter Parker in the movie! What the hell.
yeah, the indian spiderman uses ball pegs both in the lower torso and in the chest. Like any other company on the market for the last 15 years or so. I was shocked when i saw that. Did Hasbro finally advanced from the 90s and finally stands with the engineering where any other company stands ? Of course not. Still 30 year old nonsense, still neck hinge, still waist swivels, still ab crunches. Those three guys in charge of Marvel Legends have to be mentally disabled at this point. They're doing it on purpose
@@dz6ruDefinitely not "any other company" for 15 years 😂. Even early Figuarts didn't have that combo, but Hasbro is definitely very behind, specifically the Marvel team.
Hasbro is encouraging all of us to save money by releasing these figures. It's not the most profitable business model, but it is quite nice of them to think about our finances.
I hate the reverse ab crunch. It seems like Storm is going to use it in their new Storm Arena line. Just, why? Also, idk why they didn't just sculpt Spider-Man legs for the past versions of this figure that had a ball at the waist, but the civilian pants.
Wow I can’t believe they finally made a figure for the 2000 video game! Quality job as always Hasbro. They couldn’t even be bothered to paint the webs. 💀
Idk why they went with the reverse ab crunch when their previous release with the sweat pants had a ballpeg at the waist and had better range than this.
Yeah, they definitely should’ve put a bit more effort in this. I get that these movies were originally thought of as just being for kids and all but even kids don’t really seem to gravitate towards these figures. They never really sold well in any of the stores in my state
I got this because I love the movies and the style and figured, this should be a good Spider-Man. I was immediately filled with regret when I saw it in package. Then it was even worse when I opened it. I usually mod ML to make them something I’d like but this thing was so bad that I just gave it to my dogs. They didn’t like it either.
I have Mafex and Sentinel version of this Spiderman, they both are amazing. I wanted to get whole gang but Sentinel decided to not make Peni Parker and Mafex doesn’t want to make Spider-Noir and Peni with her robot, terrible. I avoided SHF line because they went crazy with prices for main 3 characters, that is Miles, Gwen and Miguel.
Had the misfortune of getting this guy as a gift and even as a gift he's not worth it Ended up putting a head from an old Spectacular Spidey figure on it and it's a lot better but still not great
QOTD: The execution may be a bit so-so, but I find what they at least attempted with this guy in terms of silhouette and proportions about 10x more interesting and appealing than the typical rubbery cosplayer ML body shape. If he had less slumpy shoulders and a brighter blue, I could definitely have considred picking him up as a Marvel vs Capcom Spidey. Hardly a great match but a lot closer than just about any other Hasbro Spider-Man imho.
This is the kind of figure I would get at a discount like how I got Jessica Drew for cheap last year along with classic Ant-Man. There should have at least been a wash to help out the sculpted details even if it wouldn't be 1:1 to the animation textures.
I really hope those reverse ab crunch doesn't stick and influence other toy companies (I already saw Figma dabble in it). The only figure I have seen them work is with a Second Axe figure (do not google with kids).
because they know most collectors don't mind mediocrity and inconsistency, hence they put in less efforts. That's what happens when you throw passion out the window and have a corporate mindset.
I think it’s mostly because Marvel Legends is marketed as the “budget” collection. SH Figuarts is very much marketed towards adult collectors that can drop $60-100 as opposed to ML where you’re supposed to get them in bulk for cheap. “Supposed to” being the operative word.
I guess because ML figures cost $25 while those kind of figures cost $60+. You'd expect compromises from a line that costs less than half. But maybe not as many compromises as you get.
I wish Hasbro would go back to the old ab crunch and waist swivel. Not being able to rotate at the waist is extremely annoying. The upper diaphragm joint and reverse ab crunch just makes me wish I had a waist swivel, or a double ball joint like SHF and some G.I. Joe Classified figures.
Some people will say "omg Anthony is too negative!" when he has to review figures like this. This one's a turd and yet he's still being pretty kind to it.
I hate that stupid ab joint. What’s funny is they had a torso of this Spider-Man or at least this style of him made, which the ball joint waist. As the Peter B. Parker figure, so they literally retooled or made brand new tooling in order to make the articulation worse.
Guess I'm the only one who genuinely enjoys this figure 🤷🏻♂️ Yes, it looks super Basic. I wish the eyes had more white. I wish the lines on the suit were painted. But, that aside, I love the posing and playability. The colors really pop when displayed with other figures.
Same here I also don't really mind the figure, it's a decent Spiderman figure with an unmasked head, that's all it is, the only problem is the ab crunch, looks weird.
It isnt an awful looking mold, but a lack of paint and not giving more clearance for some of the articulation and the severe lack of accessories makes me hate it. A black wash and shaving some plastic in spots could fix it.
I don't understand Hasbro at all, it's like for every 5 steps they take forward, they take 20 steps back. I thought the renew your vows Spider-Man body mold was gonna be the new standard going forward or the amazing fantasy Spider-Man body mold. Both those molds are amazing and have great articulation, Hasbro really couldn't find a way to incorporate this design on one of those molds in 2024? I wish they'd give up the marvel license, they clearly don't care about marvel as much as they used to. The lack of accessories and paint make this figure an easy pass for me.

I hate the combination of sculpted weblines with no paint. It reminds me of the toddler toys you can find at Target. That profile also looks weird. I like the style of the films so I want to support this line, but the execution doesn't warrant it.
Man, I loved the Spider-verse movies, but these figures are just not great. Got the Gwen from the first movie and it was decent. Spider-Man Noir too, and it is decent.. but the rest of the line? Maybe Miles from the first movie but it is damn expensive at this point for what it is. I'm thinking to try my luck with the SHFA versions but of course, the price is too damn high for a mexican collector. I'm not losing my sleep for not having a collection, I don't mind the cheaper brands, that's where I (as everyone else) started... but if they don't hit the mark for their own standards, it becomes an actual waste of money.
