This is a great song and captures the Sandakphu area so well! As a foreign tourist, I was grateful to be able to do the Sandakphu - Phalut trek twice this year, and recently stumbling upon this song brings back those incredible memories! The first trek was in March, getting stuck at the top of Sandakphu given heavy unexpected snowfall, which meant we couldn’t continue to Phalut, and had to make our way down to Gurdum in the snow and ice, and then hike through the black forest and beautiful villages to Rimbick where cold HIT beers, fresh momos and the Rimbick Snooker Club were the rewards for completing the trek! The second time in April we made it to Phalut and then through the forests onto the stunning Rammam villages and finally ending in Srikhola. From trekking in the Himalayas and through Singalila National park, fully blooming rhododendrons, great guides and friendly/welcoming locals, to the camaraderie with the troops at the Indian military check posts, eating and drinking with other trekkers at the guesthouses, Buddhist monasteries and small Hindu temples, as well as staying in village homes, this is a truly memorable trek! The Darjeeling district is one of my favourite places in India, and seeing Kanchenjunga on a clear day is like a dream! Thank you for a great song that reminds me of such great times, and I can’t wait to go back!
