"Big Night DC" is a great open bar/food/music/dancing party option hosted at the Gaylord National hotel (technically in Maryland) - the Alexandria fireworks are visible from the balconies
My favorite was the Y2k I remember those fireworks and dancing to stay warm with will Smith. I Come every year and I stay safe in my hotel when the ball drops
For once we in Charlotte, North Carolina, have something on Washington DC. We raise a crown to the top of the Bank of America building in the center of town for New Year’s.
@@TripHacksDC a nickname is the queen city. Hence the crown. There is a small town somewhere in North Carolina that used to have a plexi glass pyramid containing a live possum that they used to drop from the roof of a local convenience store on New Year’s Eve. Mount Olive has a pickle trap too.

I was not around to experience Y2K, but I can only imagine the fear some people had because of the Millennium Bug.
